  1. El Toro No. Not even close. I love El Toro but it's not butter smooth. It's smooth but not Fury smooth. Look, Fury may be smooth, but it will never be Mean Streak smooth. Very few coasters can ever be as smooth as Mean Streak.
  2. That might be a little low in today's dollars. I know Holiday World's Thunderbird was said to have cost $22 million.
  3. Maybe Cedar Fair is planning on removing the log flume and most of the trees left in 'Rivertown'. That way the area can match most of the park, limited tree coverage, nice wide walkways and trash cans. Growing up with Kings Island as my home park it was disappointing to watch Paramount gut a lot of the theming and beauty of the park and unfortunately Cedar Fair seems determined to continue the trend. I have no problem with a park changing through time but, some parks seem to do it with grace and care and others just chop the place up.
  4. Its probably the scary 4 headed snake, you don't want to look into its eyes very long.
  5. This park knows how to do it right.
  6. Except Mickey Mouse is a fictional character and these whales are live creatures in captivity. Not a great analogy. However large we think these pools are, these whales lives are the equivalent to a person being born in a house and then living the rest of their life in one room of that house. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of PETA and thought that Blackfish was ridiculously heavy handed. However, as a compassionate human, it is always a little sad to see animals meant for vast spaces confined to a relatively small living environment. Actually I think its a very good analogy. Mickey Mouse is an iconic brand for Disney and Shamu is the iconic brand for Sea World. My comment was focused on the business side of this issue not on the debate related to the different opinions on having animals as part of a theme park or zoo/aquarium.
  7. I respect their business decision and hope it works out for the Sea World parks in the long run, but it feels a little like if Disney announced they were going to phase out Mickey Mouse.
  8. This a great addition to Sea World. Can't wait to give this a ride.
  9. Great photos of Hershey. Thank you for posting them, I always enjoy seeing this park.
  10. I think a well themed splash battle ride that would be accessible from the theme park and from the water park would go well in the Girraffica site.
  11. When I was at the park last week, it looked like they had large new 'video' screens that were being taken inside the Moroccan Palace.
  12. Looks like another beautiful ride. This park looks amazing, its at the top of my bucket list of parks to do. Hope to make it there some day.
  13. I would agree, best Christmas event out of all the Orlando parks. Its very well done and they don't charge extra for it.
  14. I really like the placement and how they are using the current Egyptian theming elements for the ride. I also like how they are going to continue the 'excavation' theme that they have with Montu. I think it will make both rides seem very well connected.
  15. They could branch out and do areas themed to international holidays from other countries.
  16. Looks really good. Great addition to the park.
  17. I would disagree with this. I think they have good operation and much better than what I have experience at most cedar fair and six flags parks.
  18. This is from their most recent quarterly update (first of November). California and Texas were the problem for the summer, while Florida parks and their other parks saw increases in attendance. - Total revenue per capita increased by 0.6% to $59.36 in the third quarter of 2015 compared to $58.99 in the third quarter of 2014. - Attendance for the quarter decreased slightly by 0.4% as a result of a decline in California and Texas. The decline at these two locations was largely offset by an increase in attendance at the Company's other park locations due to an improvement in demand, related to an increase in promotional offerings, and a favorable operating schedule resulting from the later timing of Labor Day in 2015.
  19. Live in Florida, enjoy coaster riding and theme parks year around.
  20. I think a lot of people from Iowa go to Adventureland. You can add eastern Nebraska, but that only grows the population by about 1 million more. At the end of the day, Cedar Fair is focusing on a larger market area with higher growth rates for the return on their investment (ROI). It just business. I also think having Silver Dollar City, Six Flags and Adventureland in this same market zone affects growth potential for WOF. Carowinds closes big competitors is Six Flags in Atlanta, Dollywood in Tennessee and Busch Gardens up in Virginia (all different market zones with their own major population base).
  21. Actually the Carowinds market is significantly larger and growing much faster than the Worlds of Fun market. Charlotte Metro population 2.4 million (2014) with a 7% growth rate Kansas City Metro population 2.1 million (2014) with a 3% growth rate Charlotte metro has more than double the growth rate. The bigger difference comes when you look at the primary markets. North Carolina + South Carolina population is 14.7 million Missouri + Kansas population is 8.9 million This is one reason Cedar Fair sees Carowinds as a significant growth opportunity.
  22. Thank you for the photos. The more I learn about Cobra's Curse the more excited I am. Between the unique indoor queue line (that will follow the concept of Manta at Sea World) and the outdoor theming, this ride will definite step up Busch Gardens game.
  23. Beautiful ride. Efteling is an amazing park. I wish more American parks followed this type of ride development.
  24. Sounds like Thunderbird is really bring people into the park. This will allow them to add even more great rides in the future. Congrats Holiday World.
