Has anyone confirmed this? I know Carowinds is, but I posted a question yesterday asking if KD is. No one has replied. 40%, not 65%. Confirmed by me, today. Additionally, the Country Kitchen restaurant adjacent to Shockwave has closed. I spottee more markers behind the closed restaurant and along the very edge of the antique cars. Pictures coming later.

I've only been on five, but I have a love-hate relationship (love three, HATE two): Love: 1. Great Bear - Hersheypark 2. Talon - Dorney Park 3. Silver Bullet - Knott's Berry Farm HATE: 1. Afterburn - Carowinds 2. Alpengeist - Busch Gardens Williamsburg (FYI the hate has to do with rattle and not with layout, Afterburn and Alpengeist have superior layouts but are UNBEARABLY rough for me.) (P.S. To those of you quick to call me stupid or misguided, emphasis on "rough for me". You're entitled to your own opinion(s).)

Of course they do! Because it's a really fun ride and should be at more parks! And all BGW has done is proven how wrong obnoxious coaster dorks can be. And this makes me happy! I bet that "obnoxious coaster dorks" will be autocorrected to "certifiedcoastergeek" from now on in this forum . I never said that I hated Sky Rocket IIs, they're tons of fun, but if I were given the choice between riding a ride which I've ridden before and a unique ride (like Boulder Dash), then I'm going to ride Boulder Dash. Still a great addition. that heartline tho...

I prepared two pictures from Google Maps on the available land for the 2016 attraction(s) to replace Shockwave. The first image (below) features three sections: blue, red, and green. The blue plot, obviously, is the land opened up by removing the Shockwave. The red plot is land which I am relatively confident will also be used, due to the fact that I personally spotted little markers throughout that section. The little markers looked something like this, and because they were placed next to trees throughout the forest I can only assume the "removal" aspect of this landscaping: The green plot (Illuminati confirmed) is the land opened up by the removal of the Flying Ace ride (which is a rumor and unconfirmed), which would open up a much wider plot of land overall. I do not believe that the Blue Ridge Tollway will be removed in 2015, nor its land used in 2016, due to the fact that no markers have been spotted and no announcements have been made at this point. This second image compares the hypothetical three plots from the first image (represented in olive) to the nearby Dominator plot (in blue). For those of you who don't know, Dominator is a medium-large B&M floorless coaster (65 MPH, 157 ft tall, 5 inversions). Obviously, if Kings Dominion were to remove the Blue Ridge Tollway, the park would have plenty of room for a large roller coaster, but as I said earlier I do not believe that this will be the case. Rather, Dominator is significantly larger than the olive plot, meaning that a similarly-sized B&M invert or wing coaster is impossible; however, a MUCH SMALLER variant of either of these coasters (aka 50 MPH, 100 ft tall, 3-4 inversions rather than 65-70 MPH, 200 ft tall, 6+ inversions) would be possible IF, at the VERY LEAST, the entire red portion from Image 1 were to be removed. Alternatively (and seemingly more likely), the large plot could be used for a grand Candy Apple Grove entrance, as well as an expansion of the walkway which goes from the Floral Clock to the Eiffel Tower, along with two or three large flat rides. Here's the comparison photo:

It's actually been the #1 trend since yesterday morning, after the announcement. Far as the 40th, it's pretty much a memory now. I remember that you told me that you had "inside sources" on Instagram (you're @kingsdominion75, right?), so how long ago did you know for certain that the Shockwave was on the way out (just curious, no source disclosure needed)?

A launched wingrider is more likely than a hyper. But yes, I could definitely see a coaster starting out in Shockwaves's spot and going into the Forrest. No, no, no. Construction would have started, and remember back in 2013 when a Cedar Fair exec clearly stated that no new wing coasters were in the works? Three years aren't enough to plan one of these huge coasters, and it's highly doubtful that Cedar Fair can afford another large-scale coaster AFTER Cedar Point's "Valravn" and California's Great America's "Floorless Vortex" conversion. Plus, the Shockwave plot wouldn't even be large enough for a queue and launch portions. Believe it or not, B&Ms are actually huge #themoreyouknow. And a hypercoaster? That's A) preposterous B) extremely expensive C) would take up the length of the entire midway, so **** Windseeker and everything else in the way D) Busch Gardens has one, and it'd admittedly probably be better or very similar to KD's E ) again, construction hasn't started anywhere around there. Just get your last rides on Shockwave, and accept the new age of flats in Candy Apple Grove.

^I agree about the lift chain, but this isn't the "end of Cedar Fair standups", just the end of the contentious Cedar Fair - TOGO relationship (remember the HeadBanger er Windjammer Surf Racers at KBF?). Carowinds and California's Great America still have their B&M standups named "Vortex" (although if the rumors hold true, California's may soon be a floorless). This also doesn't confirm a new coaster for 2016 (although it does significantly increase the probability for 2017, but I'll get to that in a later discussion on a different day when I'm not so tired), and I'd bet that the land is used for two or three large flat rides, one of which will most likely be an upcharge FunTime SlingShot. I agree that flat rides of most varieties are superior to the Shockwave (except for anything upcharge, since I tend to avoid these). As for your trip, expect fairly large weekend crowds. You should be able to hit all of the coasters at least once (if you stay the whole day), with an opportunity to hit some flats/shows/coaster re-rides (with the exception of Volcano, DO THAT FIRST OR YOU WILL MISS OUT). Good luck finding any Shockwave merchandise, since that ride isn't much for bragging rights (although I'd expect lines to spike here in its final month with plenty of nostalgic fans who will leave green-faced and disappointed). I'd guess that Kings Dominion will do a last rider charity auction, and maybe some giveaways along the way, since they hinted at some "special events", but don't count on anything during your visit. If you're going to focus on Shockwave, don't bother picking up a Fast Lane, since you can't use the passes there, but buy a Fast Lane Plus if you really want to maximize your ride count on just about everything else and/or want more rides on Volcano. Hope this helps!

*basks in silence of Shockwave-free future* One down, two to go (I'm looking at you, Anaconda and Hurler). Realistically, though, while a new coaster would be nice, that plot ain't large enough. *UNLESS* the park also removed Flying Ace and the seldom-used arcade next door (and maybe the All Wheel Sports stadium could be relocated), then you might be able to fit a smaller coaster in that spot.

You should add this to the thread poking fun of the GP's ignorance. This is about as stupid as someone calling the New Texas Giant unsafe because the ride ops allowed a guest of extreme size to ride. This lady wanted attention from the sensationalist slow-day local press and now she can say that she got her 30 seconds of fame.

Most INTENSE Coaster Moment?

First turn on Intimidator 305. End of discussion. -
YES PLEASE!!!! Oh and make it a dueling loop like Twisted Colossus! Imagine a zero g-roll going over an airtime hill! Do we really have to go into hallucinatory KD fanfiction again? Twilight's got nothin' on whatever you're smokin'. Wingrider? Maybe (in 2017, ). Launched? HECK NO. Too expensive. Dueling? WTF(udge - PG13 censor) no, this isn't Universal. CF will never budget for a new large steel dueling coaster at KD, there's not enough attendance potential to do so. Zero-g roll over airtime hill? See "dueling". The area you indicated? Not likely, but may be used for a coaster in 2017.
