  1. I think a wing coaster like Gatekeeper is highly unlikely too, it was very expensive and I think I heard that they wanted to make Gatekeeper the only one in the chain. RMC I think is also unlikely at this point in time since Timber Wolf already is getting retracked by GCI. I like the idea of a Premier launch coaster since they don't have any launch coasters at the park.
  2. I heard that Canada's Wonderland and Kings Dominion will be the ones in 2017 to get a coaster. As for Valleyfair, they just got a major investment to there waterpark, so I don't see Cedar Fair giving them something huge for 2016 either since Valleyfair is on the smaller side.I have also heard from an employee that 2016 Dorney Park will expand and with that expansion they will first get a coaster like a nice and cheap GCI woodie, like in 2013 when Cedar Point got Gatekeeper and CGA also got Gold Striker in the same year.
  3. Does anyone know why it has many mechanical problems? I don't remember hearing this many stories when it was in California. I can only speculate, but I wonder if the move did a number, plus being in PA, Stinger is exposed to cold snowy winters, rain, and some large temperature fluctuations. That has to do a number on roller coasters. I don't think that's the reason because you've got so many great coasters all around the northeast and they are super smooth and don't break down, Steel Force is 18 years old and is still very smooth. Stinger did have trouble in CGA, and that's probably why they wanted to removed it in the first place. This past weekend Stinger was running great and was open the whole time on Saturday and Sunday.
  4. It should be moderately crowded (typical for a summer weekend). Could you specify what "should I choose to go the Fast Lane route" means? I don't think you'll need Fast Lane. Based on the fact that you seem to be out of town and have to be at BGW on Sunday, I'm assuming you have around eight to ten hours at the park. In that case, get there ~30 min early, even though you won't get Early Entry, and wait near the early entry gate to the right of the Dominator pavilion (Don't ride the Dominator first thing, as lines will accumulate quickly). Once normal ride operations begin at 10:30, go straight through Planet Snoopy (past Boo Blasters) to the Volcano, and ride that. Next, go ride I305 and hit Flight of Fear after that, to avoid lines. Ride the Backlot Stunt Coaster next - for some reason, this coaster has a considerable wait time on weekends, even though it has moderate capacity. The other stuff in the Congo (Anaconda, Avalanche, etc.) never draws more than a 15 min wait time, so go to the Grove and ride Drop Tower and Rebel Yell. Windseeker's worth the ride if you haven't been to a CF park before, Hurler's OK if you don't mind a pretty rough ride, and Grizzly is a little better than Hurler. (Note: to find Grizzly, you have to walk through the dinosaur gift shop - don't ask me, there's been some confusion recently). Later on, ride Shockwave and Boo Blasters or another smooth flat ride because Shockwave is a head-rattler, despite its fairly impressive airtime. When you have around an hour to an hour and a half left, queue up for Dominator, and call it a day. Pro Tips: 1. Avoid Fast Lane, unless you want multiple re-rides. Fast Lane is usually not necessary unless you're planning to visit on the Fourth. 2. Don't buy Preferred Parking; KD's lot is well-designed and a short walk anyway. Buy parking online and save $5. 3. Avoid the "All Day Dining Plan", and KD combo meals in general (unless you're cool with paying $15 per meal). KD allows hand stamps and parking lot re-entry and provides pavilions outside the gates for outside food, so hit Martin's grocery store in nearby Ashland in the early AM and bring a cooler to pack lunch and dinner, or eat at one of the various fast food places nearby. 4. If you're going to buy ride photos, get the "All Day Photo Email Package" for $30 and get unlimited ride photos sent to your email from (I think this is the complete list: I305, Volcano, Dominator, Boo Blasters, and the Woodstock Expresss). 5. Don't bother packing $$$ for ride l ockers (for some reason, it changes the word without spaces to "fluffy, fluffy bunnies filled with medicine and goo") - save it for BGW's mandatory l ockers and/or souvenirs. KD provides FREE article bins on every ride platform, a rare sight to behold. All in all, enjoy your day at KD and your weekend of fun in the heart of Virginia! (Hope this miniguide helps). Thank you for all of this information and tips, this is sure to help me when I go there and I am happy that I most likely won't have to buy a Fast Lane because when I went to SFGA I had to get it and it was an outrageous price.
  5. These are in my opinion the top five roller coasters at Dorney since we are kinda talking about that, 1. Talon ( My favorite ride at the park it has everything you could want speed, intensity, low to the ground elements, and a unique mid-ride drop) 2. Possessed ( This ride never gets old, 5...4...3...launch) 3. Steel Force ( This ride was amazing 15 years ago, but it is still a fun and enjoyable ride that is still very smooth) 4. Hydra ( This ride could of been so cool if they had it interact with the lake, but it's an alright ride) 5. Stinger (If it doesn't have any major brake downs I could easily switch this with Hydra, not betting on that though) As for the most intense coasters in the park I couldn't agree more that Possessed and Stinger are at the top with Talon right behind them:)
  6. I am going to the park for the first time ever on July 25 which is a Saturday and I only got one day there because the next day I go to BGW, are the lines very crowded like I think they'll be and should I choose to go the Fast Lane route. I won't be going to the water park or any children rides, just the family and thrilling roller coasters, other types of thrill rides, and a few of the family rides.
  7. What is the deal with the land they bought awhile ago, they could put a new parking lot there to open up room elsewhere so they don't have to be as land lock.
  8. Cedar Fair usually gets two coasters a year with the exception of this year with only getting Fury 325 (I don't count Rougarou). I don't expect more then two coasters in 2016 with Cedar Fair giving 120 million to there parks and Cedar Point is most likely getting a dive coaster that cost around 15 million. So I think either WoF, Dorney Park, Kings Dominion, or Valleyfair will be next in line for a coaster, but I think Wof and Dorney have the greatest potential because both park got very small investments with Wof getting a splash pad and relocated swan boats and Dorney getting a Larson Flyer unlike Valleyfair and Kings Dominion that both got pretty big slide complexes. This year is going to be interesting in the Cedar Fair chain!
  9. Coaster Force rode it and said it was very smooth, had great transitions, and overall a super fun ride!
  10. I am heading up to Knoebels tomorrow to ride Impulse and my concern with this ride is it looks like on the test run that it rattles. I was on Thunderbolt in Coney Island and that ride looked very cool from the outside, but then I rode it and it also rattled and jerked you around. I am praying it is not the same way because it looks like a great ride and I love that it has lap bars instead of the over the shoulder restraints.
  11. Worlds of Fun has a lot of potential, but will most likely never come close to Carowinds. Carowinds IMO has 2 of the top five B&M coasters in the US and Cedar Fair is actually trying to make that park as good as a park like Kings Dominion/Kings Island unlike Wof where they are trying to make this park a very good park, but not an amazing park. It reminds me of a park like Dorney Park that is very good with a great waterpark and several good coasters just like Worlds of Fun, but just isn't made for being a great park.
  12. Don't bag Steel Force just yet, it might not be forceful, but the airtime in the front row is great and the helix is very fun ( also IMO the best night ride in the park with the lake in the horizon).
  13. I went to Dorney yesterday for Autism Speaks and saw some changes. In addition to what I saw, Dorney announced a new light package on the Ferris Wheel and it looked amazing. Here's whats left of Hangtime Some new fencing around Thunderhawk, very minor change but gives it a more old feel Very nice new entrance sign on Thunderhawk (love the yellow supports), sorry took this with my phone sideways I guess the employee I talked to was right, Stinger is going to open opening day! As I was leaving I saw Cedar Creek Flyers test run.
  14. I really don't see a dark ride happening for a while, parks like Cedar Point, Carowinds, Kings Island, and Worlds of fun are going to get one first then Dorney so probably they'll get a new coaster most likely in 2017 then a dark ride a few more years later.
  15. Definetly doesn't bother me, relocated or not it is great!
  16. How is Possessed a hand me down shuttle coaster, it is my favorite ride at the park for the extreme intensity it offers and Thunderhawk like said is 92 years old and not extremely rough I think they are doing a decent job with the coaster. I also can't see Dorney getting a woodie with all the noise they make people around the park like ususal would be furious unless they make a lot a tunnels and half tunnels like they did with Gold Striker. Dorney also could use a good family coaster ( wild mouse is not fitting that gap), but I am not talking about 2016 I am talking there next future coaster and they really have no other steel coaster to choose from that is actually reasonable for Dorney park maybe they'll get Shockwave at Kings Dominion and advertise themselves as the relocation rides capital of the world!
  17. What was the second hand me down shuttle coaster. I don't feel that bad for this park since they do have one of the best water parks around and a great collection of kid, family, and thrill rides. They just need one more good coaster (GCI woodie) to put it back were they need to be which is being a fun and very well rounded amusement park. They also are starting to put some charm back into the park with the many signs around the park telling about there history, but they need to put some more trees in the upper midway and make some landscaping charm that's been noticeably changing. Compared to some of the other parks in the chain like Valleyfair that hasn't gotten a coaster since Renegade and has a very below par water park ( even with the big expansion), Michigan's Adventure hasn't gotten a coaster since there relocated slc and doesn't have one decent steel coaster, but at least they got a good water park. Worlds of Fun is just like Dorney park at this point in time other then that Dorney has more steel coasters, but I do love Prowler and there unique thrill rides.
  18. This year of Haunt might be one of the best years yet! With this new Haunt building and a new haunt attraction in place of the weirdly themed Desolation this year is sure to bring some more " scares." I just wish they can do something about that pirate themed one that nobody cares about, at least add some more props besides a pirate ship unless you are trying to scare five year olds.
  19. Has anyone seen the new Smokehouse Barbecue on Dorney Park Twitter? It looks nice and it's indoors, but it looks very small.
  20. I know we are joking around, but I am not. I am hearing from a Dorney employee that Stinger will now possibly be opening for opening weekend. I know it's had an extremely rough two years, but when I did get to go on Stinger it wasn't a bad experience and in some case actually pretty enjoyable so I am giving it one more chance to prove itself.
  21. You can have a invert that has amazing pacing with just 4 inversion. Talon one of the most forceful inverts around with low to the ground elements goes right to a vertical loop to a zero g roll then an Immelman and after that you still get great pacing.
  22. Valleyfair has potential and a big population around it, but it also has competition that's dragging people elsewhere. That's why the attendance is on the lower side. Carowinds might not have as big as a population around it, but it also doesn't have competition so that's why there attendance is higher. The parks with the highest attendance Cedar Point, Canada's Wonderland, Carowinds, and Kings Island will be the best potential for expansion ( the expensive and the best quality coasters). You also need land so even though Knotts gets the highest attendance out of all the parks it is only 160 acres and that is why it's more of a family park.
  23. 13 million is 2001, prly 15-16 Million in today's money[/quo Patriot was only about 12 million i think, and that was build in 2005-2006 off season. And patriot is slightly longer. Wonder why Talon was 1 million more? I think Patriot was 14 million
  24. Talon was named that because you are hanging below the track just like you are if you were an animal hanging from a birds TALON.
  25. Talon is at my home park and that ride would make a very big upgrade to Valleyfairs lineup and in my opinion Talon is one of the best inverts out there and I believe it's only 13 million which would be right around Valleyfair's Budget.
