About ops, the only other SF parks I've been to are SFFT and SFDK, and both had better ops IMO than SFMM, especially SFFT. I don't have any big problem with no three train ops, but what I am bothered by is when a ride capable of running three trains is operating wih just one. Scream is the biggest culprit of this. About TC, if any element is going to be cool due to dueling, it's gonna be the top gun stall. That is the only real racing/dueling coaster innovation I see this making. To me, it's a kick ass RMC that you happen the get to ride twice, and the dueling may or may not add to that. Of course come opening day I could completely change this opinion.

Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
tatsu_dude replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That Immelmann is going to be absolutely massive! Did HW ever give a height statistic for it? This ride is reminding me more and more of Hulk at IoA, hopefully this can be the first properly intense wing rider following Banshee's reported greatness. -
^^I agree it's not the totally horrible, disgusting experience this forum makes it seem to be, but for locals who see every little detail of the place, there are so many things to nitpick about. The coaster collection is good, but there isn't really anything there with airtime (TC will change that) and the obvious star coaster is rough as hell 75% of the time. Ops are bad. I'll just say I've never seen stackless 2 train ops before, and I've never seen 3 train ops. Ever. ^It might be awesome. If it is I'll be the first to admit I was wrong. But I've never really been too interested by racing coasters, and in this bubble-wrapped, Un-Dueling Dragons day and age, how close to an actual high five are you gonna get? This ride is going to be awesome either way if it's anything like every other RMC in existence, don't get me wrong.

I seem to be in the minority in that I think that whether the trains duel or not won't have an impact on the ride. Sure, the high five might be cool, but it honestly just seems like a gimick to be seen from the parking lot to me. If there is any kind of effort to sync up the trains on the lifts it will definitely be automated a la Dueling Dragons. It seems most likely to me that either there will be no syncing after the first summer, or there will be a programmed system, but the MM ops will find some way to be even slower than the system allows for...

Knott's Scary Farm 2014 Opening Night Report!
tatsu_dude replied to ILoveRides's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Very cool stuff. I live in So-Cal but for some reason have never been to Scary Farm. One of these days I'll get down there, as it looks awesome, especially Special Ops Infected. Whoever came up with the idea of a zombie maze/laser tag mash-up is a genius! And was that Tony Baxter in the Special Ops video?!? -
Weird Roller Coaster Dreams
tatsu_dude replied to alpengeistdude321's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I had a dream as a little kid that my family was in Ohio, so we could go to Cedar Point, but only for a few hours because we had to meet family or something like that. When we got there my parents really wanted to go on the Power Tower for some reason, so we spent all of our time there waiting in a massive line for that ride while I stared, tortured, at Magnum cycling 90% empty trains. We never got on any coasters, and I still have never been to CP in real life. -
They are really cutting into that structure! Can't wait for construction to get to the point where you can see the profile of the new drop. As for the pre-lift discussion, RMC definitely knows what they're doing when it comes to airtime, and the hills will be interesting and funky for sure, but I think anyone saying "Ooh airtime before the ride starts!" might be disappointed. Either way, the whole of Twisted Colossus will be awesome regardless of what the pre-lift does. Looking forward to more track installation!

Expedition Everest, no question. -
How do you ride?
tatsu_dude replied to pkdcoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Generally hands up on lap bar rides and a few really smooth B&Ms, and holding on for OTSRs and some really rough woodies (cough cough GhostRider). -
I don't really see the point of having bunny hops during the pre-lift. On the original Colossus the thing was so flat that the kicker wheels in the station had to practically launch you out of the station to get to the lift. I like that RMC is trying to cram airtime in everywhere they possibly can, but I doubt those hills will actually do anything for the ride.

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
tatsu_dude replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
One time I was in line for IRat behind an overly GP family when the ride broke down. The family began discussing what could be wrong with the ride when the dad pointed to the ride's tunnel's exit, which always has tons of mist coming out of it, and said "Look at all that smoke coming out of the tunnel! Something must be seriously wrong!" I tried to hold back laughter as much as possible and explain the mist to them, but the guy still gave me a dirty look afterwards. -
I went down to the Mountain yesterday and took some Twisted Colossus construction pictures, along with a few around the park. First post on TPR! This was my first view of Colossus post fire damage. What's that I see over there...? More RMC track. There was a bunch more under Goliath I noticed later on-ride. Looks like Goliath took a big bite out of Colossus. You can see here that the entire first drop was stripped of track. The half bunny hop. The entire home stretch was either gone or trackless. Kind of hard to see, but there was a massive pile of blackened wood and debris in the turnaround. Included this photo for the sole purpose of captioning it. TAKE THE TUNNEL! Apocalypse money shot. She's getting kind of rough and worn around the edges, but she's still a great ride IMO. Back to Colossus. Same shot as the rest of the coaster geek internet, moving on... Colossus track through the trees. Station is still completely untouched, as is the other pre-lift as far as I can tell. Some keep hoping for some kind of dual station... sorry, this is SFMM we're talking about. Went down to Colossus's more recently used exit to try and peek in and was greeted by this amazing wall. I guess it fits well with Scream. WTF is this? Never noticed it before, but it reminds me of the stupid backstory sign in front of Silver Bullet at KBF. Swashbuckler is BLUE. Yellow swing thingies. One final shot of the sizable chunk missing from Colossus. Thanks for reading!
