  1. Just happened to come across this... Musicals are probably my favorite things to be apart of! I've been apart of 9 so far! (The Apple Tree, Oklahoma!, Fiddler on the Roof, Honk!, Les Miserables, Willy Wonka, Beauty & The Beast, The Madrigal Dinner, and Aladdin: Dual Language Edition. Outside of those shows, my favorite musicals are probably "Wicked" and "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown!". Besides being a coaster geek, I'm definitely a huge theatre geek.
  2. Well, I'm just sitting here browsing the forums, and realized I never did this. So hi, I'm Nicole! I'm 16 and my home park is Valleyfair! I love performing, I'm in band, theatre, choir, showchoir... Just about everything! I found this website from a friend, and I'm glad I did! I've been a member since sometime over the summer, but recently have started posting more. Oh yeah, I have a Twitter (same user as here) and I have a blog about my home park. Soooo i love taking pictures at Valleyfair, and yeah! I don't know what else to say besides I'm really awkward, so I'll end it here! If anyone has any questions, feel free to PM me.
  3. You might be a coaster nerd if you take a practice ACT for your English class and your topic is about online forums and you write about TPR... this may or may not have happened to me today (and by may, I mean it did)
  4. I actually stick my head out to get even more wind I've done it. Gotten weird looks, but I do it quite often.
  5. You might be a coaster nerd if you like sitting in the back seat of a car going down the highway and having your window down all the way so the wind is like the wind from a roller coaster... OR.. if you wrote a 4 page college paper about things you value and they're all related to your home park.. (guilty of this- got a perfect paper)
  6. I just met garyman6 for the first time last weekend and had a good time and I am always up for meeting other theme park enthusiasts/'geeks'. And this goes for anyone on this thread, just send me a PM through this site or make a blanket post on here about a meet up at the park and I am there. It would be fun to get together and meet some of people behind the posts. Personally I think we should all try to meet up on the last Saturday or Sunday this year for sure just to say we rode coasters in November in Minnesota. I would LOVE to do that! But I'm in a play those days so my last ride of the season will be Halloween. But yes, we should try to have some sort of meet up, even if it's quick, before the season's over. It would be cool to finally see some of the faces behind some of these posts. I'm sure I'm easy to point out, I'm one of the only girls who posts regularly on this thread Feel free to shoot me a PM (or tweet me, if you have a Twitter) of when you (any of you) will be in the park next, maybe I'll be there or something.
  7. I would LOVE to work in the park, I'm really shooting to do so next season. It seems like a blast. Kind of a drive for me, but I'm there a lot of weekends anyways so it's nothing too bad.
  8. ^^^ That all makes sense, haha. Kinda feel silly for asking that now, but the only reason I asked it was because I'm pretty sure there were enthusiasts behind me on High Roller Saturday. Not that I would even know any of you if I came across you haha
  9. So, this is really random but do any of us ever do meet ups at VF? I feel like I've probably ran into you all (or some of you) a ton of times, but I don't know like any of you haha. But maybe I'll see some of you sometime!
  10. Maybe "parade" is an overstatement. Around 6:30 they open up the gate to the other side by the first aid station, and all the monsters come out en masse with a drummer and carrying huge banners with the name of the haunt that they're going to. Valleyfair's monsters seem almost entirely young people, at Six Flags Great Adventure they had quite a few older people, but maybe there's a lot of aging wanna-be actors in the New York area. (like the one that ambushed my sister while she was standing around waiting for me to use the restroom and caused her to injure her ankle when she jumped). I'm 40 and I couldn't take that amount of standing and screaming, but I do think it would be fun to work Hellside for some reason. I'll have to check it out next time- I was actually going to stick around by High Roller/First Aid at about 6:15, but I didn't want to miss the Thriller ceremony. I've noticed lots of young people as well, in fact I know quite a few of them from school and whatnot. I planned on working there this fall, but something came up preventing that so I'm really hoping to next year. I for some reason want to be in Zombie High. I also want to audition for Live Entertainment next year. Will it happen? Probably not, but hey, a girl can dream.
  11. ^^^ Oh good, you thought it felt faster too? I thought I was going crazy.
  12. ^ The parade was the only thing I missed. When/where was it? I also don't understand why they didn't have 3 trains running, because it was like a 20ish minute wait. It would've been a lot worse though if they only had one train running, I'm glad they had two. Right before I got on the train before me stopped on the lift hill, better them than me. On the topic of WT, I find it a lot more fun in the dark during Haunt season because you go diving into the fog. Just me? :
  13. Hey! So lines last night (and I heard last weekend as well) were 15-20 minute waits. I think Fright Lane/Skeleton Key is worth it just because you bypass the line for each maze once, and most Of them have an exclusive room where you need to find your way out. Lines might not be as bad on a Friday, but I'm not sure because I've never gone on a Friday. If you wanna get there and wait to see how lines are, you can always buy Fright Lane at the park. The skeleton key rooms are exclusive little rooms that are basically challenge rooms, and they're quite fun and disgusting. If you have any more questions, let me know! I have more details about everything on my blog, but I definitely spoil everything on there so if you wanna be surprised, don't read it. Have a great time at Haunt- don't forget to do a trip review!
  14. Hey all! Quick trip review (short version) from yesterday! High Roller- Decent ride yesterday. I think I had a group of VF enthusiasts behind me because they were screaming "YAY! VALLEYFAIR IS NUMBER ONE!" and stuff like that. Wild Thing- BEST ride I've had on WT all season. Fast, smooth, it was great. And it was fun going into the fog! Abnormal Alley- Disappointing this year... Last year I LOVED it, this year I saw maybe 3 scarers in it. Blood Creek Cemetery- My favorite scarezone last night. Lots of fog (infact, I couldn't see anything) and lots of nice scares. Carnevil: Ringmaster's Revenge- Had SO much potential, but I'm still not feeling it. Clowns are creepy, but if they don't try scaring people and just walk past what's the point? DinoSlaughter- Just no.. I'd rather not even talk about it. Asylum- So much fun! I liked the blinding lights and fog which hid scarers well and made for some pretty unexpected scares. It got pretty crazy. And the Skeleton Key room wasn't horribly gross (plus, I solved it! ) Bloodshed- My new favorite. SO much fun, and it was actually terrifying for me and my cousin. SO many good scares, and we were CHASED out by 2 butchers screaming things at us. Only maze of the night I was actually screaming and jumping, otherwise I usually just jumped. Camp Wekilou- Really dark and eerie. Lots of scares from people under bunks, lots of funny comments from camp goers. The camp counselor was fun too. Skeleton Key room was "hard" at first, but once we got out we got to watch the next person go through it and it made me feel incredibly stupid. Chateau du Damne- Always a favorite. Love everything about it, from the butler introducing you to the "castle" to the hair hallway and the exit. Skeleton Key room was yucky (I actually thought I would puke), but I got a free souvenir out of it. Hellside Farm- Very "claustrophobic" feeling. Lots of nice scares from people dressed like scarecrows and hiding in the corn. Was confused when I first got in, but I'm pretty sure there was only one way to go. London Terror- I personally think it was better than last year, even though it had the same accents and mostly the same layout. I got to be the FIRST person through of the night, which was an unexpected surprise. One of the monsters somehow knew my name so my name got through the house. Had a few good scares, but it has potential to become something even greater. The Skeleton Key room was absolutely terrifying to me. Zombie High- Was great last year, was even better this year! Lots of things made me jump and there was one very good ping-pong style scare we got as we went through. Skeleton Key room was absolutely disgusting and I was almost going to scream the safe word, but I refused to chicken out. Apparently we took to long though, because we didn't do it all according to some people. Last room confused me, because there were no scarers? Hacks: Live Dudes!- Mostly the same Hacks as last year, besides a few new little things. Recommended 13 and up, because of some swearing, sexual jokes, and some material may be offensive. Love it because no two shows are the same (Yay, improv!). Ritual of Fire- Basically Blood Drums, but I liked it better. Think Blood Drums plus Fire jugglers and dancers. Really upbeat drumming. Also caught the opening ceremony at the beginning, which was a nice little change than what usually happens. Check it out at 6:45 at the Midway Stage if you find yourself at Haunt. Also, the guy with the drum somehow scared me with the drum. Fun stuff. Overall, Skeleton Key was totally worth it because the rooms were intense, and I got to skip lines, saving me a ton of time. Haunt's really stepped it up and I'm glad I can say I've finally done everything. So much fun! That's my short review, trying not to spoil too much. If you wanna read my review in detail, check it out on my blog! (http://livelaughlovee13.wordpress.com/2014/09/28/haunt-2014-review-9272014-visit/)
  15. Don't know how many people would be interested, but I'm heading out to Haunt tomorrow and I plan on Live Tweeting about everything, including Skeleton Key. If for some reason you're interested in seeing those tweets, check out my Twitter (my @ name is my username on here). I'm so excited for Haunt! On the topic of Skeleton Key, does anyone know if I can be touched when in the rooms? That's my only fear at this point..
  16. Oooh, Haunt for the first time- How exciting!! They might be a little longer since it'll be nice weather, but it shouldn't be too unbearable. My friend who works there said probably around 20 minute wait for some mazes, which is pretty normal, especially for the "more popular" mazes. Have a great time if you go! I'll be there as well.
  17. Hey, I'll be there too! Hopefully this isn't my last trip this year. It's gonna be great weather to be there though!
  18. ^I've never thought of standing there and watching them disperse, but I might have to do that when I go, that sounds really cool.
  19. Lines really depend on the weather, since it's the first Saturday though I wouldn't imagine them being too bad, probably 20-30 mins? Fright Lane is totally up to you, but it would get you to skip the lines for each maze once and it would get you in the exclusive "Skeleton Key" rooms. I've never needed one before, but I'm getting one this year one night, specifically for the Skeleton Key. As far as the Haunts, I haven't experienced every maze, but I certainly recommend Chateau du Damne and Zombie High, as well as the scarezones. I've also heard The Asylum and Bloodshed are ones to not miss, however depending on the crowds you may very well be able to experience them all, especially if you end up doing Fright Lane. I also highly recommend checking out "Hacks! Live Dudes", the improv show in the Galaxy Theatre- it's a nice break from the scares and the chilly outside weather, and the shows are always hilarious. Have a great time, and let us know how opening night was- I'm super bummed I can't make it.
  20. Maybe I'm wrong, but it kind of looks like the new London Terror. I could be wrong though.
  21. ^ Probably a really dumb question, but where was Chaos located? I can't seem to remember.
  22. Is the wave pool and things we already have staying? The wave pool isn't that old so I was just wondering.
  23. Awesome, yes!! Please do review the mazes, and let me know if you get to do Skeleton Key! As bad as it sounds, I really want to do it, but I don't want it to be a let down. With Haunt approaching so quickly, I'm so bummed I can't make it Opening Weekend. Stupid homecoming dance.
  24. IM SO EXCITED I COULD PEE MYSELF Okay, not really. But seriously. Can't wait. I was telling my parents they would do it tomorrow. I just had a feeling. Anyways... Did anyone see the email about everything and for Haunt about the Skeleton Key? It sounds a lot more intense than past parks, considering you have to sign a waiver.. Hmm. Might be something to check out if I can actually find someone willing to do it with me.
