Track Spottings!
OneOfTheWills replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I still don't think so unless this orange/red dive is of a different structural track design from the white one. The spines and ties still look different from the example red dive in the photo above. -

You're reading wayyyyyyyyyyyy to much into this. That support is no different than anything else. The "mystery track" is obviously lift track (hence the odd ties, lowered to allow the chain track) and brake/trim track (hence the lowered spine to allow space). But if you're having fun trying to figure out the mystery, don't let me stop you. I just don't want you to get your hopes up. If it was lift track would the white lift track look similar and vice versa? -
Your first Arrow Dynamics coaster

Mine was (then) Top Gun (now Bat) at Kings Island! Was also my first adult coaster. I was only 8-9 at the time and it terrified me. I remember bawling in the station until half way down the first drop. By the time I got off, I was hooked on roller coasters. -

I think this could be the all the references to taking a chance on "going to the New World" the 66days site has referred to. The pilgrims were not sure if they would survive the trip or the New World, but they took the chance knowing that the success outweighed the failure. -

Ok, so just for a minute let us play the speculation game. We can see those ties are different than other types of track ties. My question, why would the ties need to be different? Not why could they but why would they need to be different? And go. -

2 is not behind 3. 2 is on top of 3. I have a fairly strong understanding of perspectives and cameras. It's on top. Might be making a trip to CSF next week or so. -

^^ 2 looks like an upside down 1 just from the size of the spine which again tells me these are just placed out side with no order making me wonder even more why they would take the time to safely stack only one piece. -

And here's what makes that footing even more interesting: the columns are eccentrically loading the footing, meaning they're not centered. An engineer would not design that under normal conditions because it greatly reduces the load bearing capacity of the footing (and thus requires a larger spread, as we see here). An eccentrically loading footing like this means the forces exerted on it will likely be coming in at an angle. I'm guessing we are looking at a foundation in a sharp curve here. One support will be going towards the top center of the picture and the other will be towards the middle right, forming a "V"-shape. Just a small piece of the puzzle So...the launch starts off heading towards Hyena Falls and then makes a sudden upward bank towards Voyage into a barrel roll? Nice to see someone who agrees!! -

I don't think any times have been announced yet but I'm sure in the coming days the park will say something...if it isn't just the morning of the 24th. -

My first guess for colors for HW were white and blue. Theming it to ocean waves in a storm. -

Just to fill you in, the announcement is being made on July 24th at the end of the 66 day countdown. We're almost there! -

I've spent much of my day off looking at as much B&M track as I possibly can(gosh, that sounds depressing). Either this is a new design for the ties or a new track design altogether. I still can't decide if these are to separate stacked pieces or two pieces bolted together. I can't for the life of me imagine why they would just stack an over 2 ton object on top of another just to save room. Also, the spine of that bottom section of the two pieces looks odd to me. Typically the lift hill's spine is ribbed because of all the attachments (chain guides, catwalks, etc.) but the ribbing is evenly spaced, unless I've over looked an example to the contrary. The spine on that bottom section is ribbed but...it sure doesn't look evenly spaced. So, this would have to be integral to the design or it's just wasted construction. Thoughts? -

It would be awesome to see this thing launch towards Hyena Falls then go into a sharp upward over-banked turn towards Voyage! -

In your last photo (the slightly pano one) is that huge footer you have another picture of located just out of frame (bottom left corner) of the last photo? If so, I see what you mean by it being crazy close to Hyena Falls. -

Here's a photo of the HW footers. These are the same footers seen in a local newspaper article a couple weeks ago but now with "almond" shaped holes cut out. Most recent photo of footers at HW. Photo taken by a_hoffman50 on CoasterBuzz. -

^^Just from the apparent double cross over of The Voyage, this new ride seems to have a footprint larger than the family sized coasters. -

An orange coaster would work well in the Thansgiving section of Holiday World. Orange and Turkeys? It would also look nice in all of those trees in the fall. -

They can even have a soundtrack consisting entirely of one song, forever stuck on repeat. This reminds me of the day The Imperial March was stuck on loop in the Fourth of July section. I was never more happy to go on break. -

^If anything, it looks like two pieces bolted together. Though, honestly, I can't tell if the bottom portion is a piece of track laying upside down. There seems to be track in the grass under it....or maybe I'm just seeing things. -

^I'm sure there would be some added cost but if it's a design B&M has already been working on then the cost, I'm presuming, would not be far beyond a similar ride design. -

Their last large investment was $13.5 million which they've said in a press release that they are surpassing with 2015's investment. How it was worded, it sounded like they were easily passing the $13.5 million mark.
