  1. Splash fins do not make a roller coaster a "first of its kind" unless the splash fins are the main element of the ride...which they never are and never will be...so no. You say you've worked there and are also a season pass holder. You do realize that HW is all about going above and beyond and they have never let problems hold them back before, right? That's rhetorical. Like NEW AND IMPROVED!....only it can't be both. Speak for yourself here. I'm hoping this little park keeps pushing the envelope to continue to make a lasting name that leaves an impression in the industry. You said you are thinking a Wing Coaster with fins.... Coaster Buzz must miss you. Agreed. I almost miss the endless vomiting about how HW can or can't afford a B&M. Keep in mind Holiday World has built thrill ride after thrill ride for the past 8-9 years. Filling in with family rides in between.
  2. ^^I was only commenting on your statement of the GP not caring if the ride was a first or not. Having the first of something is pretty much all the American public cares about. Best comes in a close second.
  3. I'm probably just repeating what someone else has posted, I apologize if so, but Tatsu is B&M's highest, longest, fastest flying coaster....at $21 million. Yeah, because no one in the general public prefers the shiny new toy over the one little Timmy got four Christmases ago.
  4. My final prediction: B&M Launched Flyer. This makes it a first of its kind for both enthusiast and the GP as no one has been launched laying down before. As far as the track color...If it isn't the teal it will be the orange, I haven't really made my mind up on that one yet. The layout will be as terrain as a flying coaster can get (flying through the trees instead of soaring above them...well, except where it does soar above them.) It will also crossover Voyage and have a couple or few inversions but nothing too extreme. The theming will be of something that existed in The New World at the time. Probably of Native American heritage or mythos. So both. The main theme will have something to do with a bird or birds or a creature that flies and possibly have something to do with severe storms/weather or the like (lightning, thunder, strong winds....maybe all three.) Just based off of the 66Days campaign, the ride and or theming isn't going to be as family friendly as some of you keep regurgitating (this also doesn't mean it is going to be super insane either.) HW is a park built on strong foundations but that doesn't mean they can't and won't build a thrilling (and deeper themed) park on top of that foundation. A strong foundation is essential but the new management understand that only having a foundation doesn't mean you have a home that last for another 68 years, especially in the competitive market of trying to keep new guests coming in. My final prediction is based on this. I think HW has an incredible future ahead of them after having an incredible 2-3 decades and 2015 will be the start of something new. The strong family friendly foundation will remain always there to support the growing park above it.
  5. ^I'm thinking about going. It's a huge announcement for a park that has played a role in who I am today. I'm guessing that attendance for a Thursday will be a little heavier than normal.
  6. Right, but isn't "Some of what I wrote was just filler," still an explanation of some of the clues? I'm not saying everything from day one to day 66 will be thrown out. I'm saying some of the story pertaining to the ship and the water might just be expository but not essential to the final clue.
  7. Fluff. Nonessential elements. Red-herrings. Throwaway material. Extra. Decorations. Padding.
  8. And that could happen inside a verbolten style building with effects. I don't see HW going for large moving ride track sections a la Pilgrim's Plunge/Giraffica any time soon. I could be wrong but fool me once... I agree that water (the sea, rain, something) will play into the theming to say the least. We still don't know how the 67th clue might play out. Day 66 is on a Wednesday (23rd) and the 24th is on a Thursday. Since their voyage will be over on the 67th day, if we do get a clue the day of the 24th it might pertain to SOMETHING in the New World which might not be linked to the voyage at all meaning that most of the descriptions were just filler and distraction to get us to the 24th.... Anyone smell smoke? I think I fried something.
  9. After reading this, now I'm thinking going up to the deck and staring at the clouds really does connect to the launch but the staring at the clouds bit is in reference to laying on your back on the flyer, being launched in that position and then inverting after the launch.
  10. Be sure to watch the animation carefully. When it's released on Thursday, that is ... Reading the "A promise made so long ago..." on the 66DaysAtSea cards made me tear up. Reading the Holiblog "A Promise Kept" also made me tear up. I can only guess what watching the animation carefully will do. Will was the greatest of men and I am still thankful for having worked for him and having met him on more than one occasion. A Launched Flyer would also be a first of its kind for the whole industry.... Footers are that deep, sometimes deeper. The footers closest to the camera, before being buried, had pits dip enough that a worker could stand inside one. They were probably spraying concrete to keep it moist before the next truck load came in and all of those guys are making sure the pour is smooth and level. On the shredded map from the beginning of the campaign, 20'x20' footers were shown.
  11. From that article: Am I reading this right? Is this true? I don't care what park this information might be true for. Sounds awesome! Though, a launched wing at HW through the woods would make me pretty happy. The german article says that the next B&M development after the wingrider concept is buildig LSM launchers. So they`re talking about two different concepts here. Buy maybe they`ll combine both of them. Who knows Ah. Thanks for clearing that up. Google translate doesn't always put words in the correct order.

  13. A friend of mine found this article from February 2013 "How Bolliger & Mabillard established its strong reputation : interview with director Walter Bolliger" The article is interesting but the reason it was shared with me (and why I'm sharing it here) is because of what Walter Bolliger is quoted as saying when asked about a possible B&M launch. Maybe it's nothing....but, this does help the idea of HW getting the first true B&M launch.
  14. I always thought cake was a euphemism for poo... Learn something every day!
  15. Must? No. Do we. Sadly, yes. Not really controversial just extremely pointless and borderline annoying at this point because it does nothing to further the conversation. We've ran this endless loop of "They can't," "Yes they can," "How can they?" "They just can," a few weeks ago. How about the financial situation, black or red, doesn't matter for the time being at least until we know the price tag. The park is building it. I don't have to worry about (and don't want to read through the pointless arguments of) whether or not it was a financially smart choice or not. Since we don't know HW's income, account balances, or the price of the ride let's just focus on what we do know; They are building a roller coaster.
  16. That's a ton of $$ for one ride for that park, but, obviously, they have accountants that have figured out the ROI for that type of huge expenditure. Maybe they figure these types of rides can greatly expand the population of visitors (I hope so because it is an awesome park!). Sorry, but, can we please stay off the subject of "How is HW going to pay for something like this?" They've been around a while, if you're going to assume they can't pay for it then equally assume they can. This argument would make since pre-footers but HW has made the commitment to ONE BIG THING so lets say they know how to pay for it. I'm thinking the same thing. The computer control room for Voyage is fairly big so (assuming this is an LSM) the computer room for a launch coaster would be even larger and located under the station platform and control console. I don't know if I agree with the ride itself being themed like a ship. HW has already (loosely) themed Voyage as a ship and with the addition of The Mayflower this year, I think they've filled their quota of ships for a while. I'm still thinking a bird will play heavily into the theming especially if this is a B&M Flyer. Another reason is because of all the bird mentions in the early stages of the journal which lead to the belief early on that HW would be getting a wing coaster. The passengers still haven't landed in the New World yet or even seen it on the horizon. One of the first signs of approaching land from sea is the sight of birds. Birds also play heavily into Thanksgiving (as we know) and birds also hold an important position in Native American culture. Just my two cents.
  17. ^ I don't think you are ever (technically) inverted on Revolution.
  18. 12 days of Christmas? Oh the suspense.... So, I take it no one took "T-minus..." as a hint towards a launch? Or the "roughly a mile a minute" as a "full speed" of the coaster? 0-62.1MPH would fit nicely into all of those dropped hints.
  19. I agree. I won't visit HW until they build at least one world class coaster to put them on the map. /s
  20. I want to bring up a past clue for a moment. Remember the shredded map, anyone? Remember how it had what looked to be like a helix or super tight bend causing the track to cross over itself? If that was an actual section of the footer map for this coaster, doesn't the lack of a giant footer at the center of that helix/tight bend rule out any type of inverted track coaster? Maybe I'm just being dumb. Please correct if I'm wrong.
  21. Not only has HW brought in over a million visitors a year (and for more than a couple years now, mind you) HW has also had expansion plans for decades. There's a reason why the park has focused on Splashin' Safari for so many years. Water rides bring in quick attendance. The amount of money that comes into the park on a daily basis, let alone weekly or monthly or almost a decade since Voyage was started, would surprise a lot of people. I have no doubts this is as massive as the PR campaign is making it out to be.
  22. Last time I made a trip to HW, a Super 8 was being built on 162 just north of the I-64 interchange at exit 63. Not sure if it's completed yet but it looked close to being done when I saw it. That would put you about 10 miles away. There is also a Comfort Inn at that same exit. Both just south of the town of Ferdinand, Indiana.
  23. Who's to say it doesn't involve some Native American heritage? They have yet to meet their new neighbors...
  24. I think the footers you have labeled as random will be for a crossover that comes from (or goes to) the tree clearing and then over the Voyage.
