  1. All 3 sides of Voodoo Drop working today: what's the world coming to...lol
  2. Great! The park is relatively small, so it doesn't matter where u start. Though, I usually start in the Mardi Gras section, then work my way to Gotham and so on. As far as flats, depends on what you like, but don't miss Fireball or the Rodeo Ride. Don't miss the shows. As far as crowds, you'll be fine. Like Password said, only Saturdays and Fright Fest are some what bad. Flash Pass? Lol,...lol I say.
  3. Got it! Thanks Edit: Oh darn! I put myself as "interested" but if it does end up being August 16th I can't make it. Leaving for college the 15th. Wait a minute. Are you going to let a little thing like college stop you from the marathon ride? Lol,..get your priorities straight. Which year? Freshman, Softmore, etc?
  4. How do you get a guaranteed spot? I posted asking on there but didn't get an answer. I sent Sam Marks a message. You'll find him on that page. Took him a few days to get back to me.
  5. From what I understand from the guy running it is that there will be 24 spots. The mini marathon will happen. It's just a matter if the park wants to turn it into a big event.
  6. Now that I've got the official, 'official' guaranteed spot, I'm beginning to think about it..lol..no, I'll do it.
  7. Hmm. I clicked it to be sure. It took me there. Tried searching Wid One 99th birthday celebration in the FB search box?

  9. What?!!? Is this really a thing? Where do I sign up? - Jason Go to (search) the wild one 99th celebration page on FB. There are 12 signed up right now.
  10. Even though my favorite coaster is in KD, I agree that it is not in the top 10. BG is though.
  11. Even though my favorite coaster is in KD, I agree that it is not in the top 10. BG is though.
  12. I remember when you went. You gave it a honest, AND, accurate assessment. In my opinion, anyone who calls the park 'bad', has forgotten what the experience is all about. Yes, I consider myself an enthusiast, but not just coasters. I'm getting all the damn SFMM and SFGAdv credits this year!! Hold me to it!!! I'm even going hard and doing the marathon Wild One celebration (ride 99 times in a row: I've already signed up) Anyway, I take everything into consideration. Water park if a park has one, coaster selection, employees (big one), shows, etc. In my opinion, not including Apocalypse (the ride needs to experience the Apocalypse, and be destroyed), the coasters are 'fun'. Roar and Superman are an extra hoot this year! Take Gotham out of the mix for a second. I do not care what anyone says, SFA theming sections tops KD. I see a lot of, well Gothams theming is bad, but hear very little about the rest of the park's sections which are great. Looking forward to when they square away Gotham, and the trees they just planted get a little more height. Back to the staff. I could have sat around for 30 minutes listening to the guy running the game to win a cape. He was hilarious. A great many of the staff are like him. Fun times. Let's not forget the unprecedented Brass Ring 3 time nominee and winning entertainment staff/shows. An earlier post stated that most of the people boosting/liking the park live close. That's both accurate and inaccurate. I've seen many posts about how folks traveled to DC and visited SFA, "and was surprised",etc, etc. Their trip advisor score has definitely went up. BTW, is there any SF park that gets out food quick? SFA hired a pro this year to run food ops. Only time will tell.
  13. Last sentence says it all, and is accurate.
  14. My thoughts, along with many others exactly.
  15. Hmm. Don't know. Take it from someone who lives 3 miles away, and came close to swearing off the place back in 2007. Went back in 2012, and was surprised. Had a pass ever since. To give you a heads up, I'm really an objective person. I go multiple places every year. I like the employees at SFA and SFOG more than KD and BG. Not talking about the ops (getting trains out quick) at SFA. They need help. What I can say is that I always 'have a good time there'. I've left KD mad more than once. A lot of people who do the bashing went to SFA a whopping grand total of one or two times in the last decade or so, then call it crap. I went to SFGAdv for the first time last year and wasn't impressed by the employees, some of the rides, and the slow food lines. Though, I did go during Holiday at the Park. I missed out on the majority of the park. Going to give it another shot this summer.
  16. Don't listen on the bad crowd. Mostly stereotypical. Watch. Had rougher times at other parks.
  17. Wild One and Roars second trains have just come back from PTC. Hopefully, they'll actually run them...lol
  18. Excellent. This is what me and a couple of others have been saying for a while. Lol,..told you about Roar and Superman. They run like new. I agree on the Superman trains. They did some retracting on Wild Ones helix; makes a great difference in an already awesome part. I hear you on Voodoo drop. It gets criticized for being to small, and rightfully so. Though, I think it's one of the more intense drops that I have felt. Oh yeah, ops always needs help here. Hopefully, it'll come together as the year goes on. Already looking forward to the water park.
  19. Yup. The first day, the noodles were TOO salty. The second time I tried it, it was way better. The teriyaki chicken was great. The orange chicken left a little to be desired. Maybe it'll be better next time. The steamed rice was good. I'm going to try the fried rice next time. Still haven't tried the cheesecake egg roll. I may have expected too much with the orange chicken. I'm used to big chunks of chicken from my Chinese place. These are a little on the small end and a little over-fried. Hopefully they will square it away soon. I'll tell you what was good; the steak sandwich at Gator McGee's!
  20. Roar is running better than it has in a LONG time. You will notice that Superman runs smoother, and does not lose some of its punch in the second helix. Others that have come with me confirm this, as I wasn't sure if it were just me.
  21. Lol,..it's a trick. They are refurbished. The new wheels go along way though. I had to ride several times, and a friend of mine marathon rode a couple of days; It seems quicker than usual, and doesn't lose 'as much' speed in the second helix.
  22. Lol,..maybe I should have said most days. Not on Saturdays and some Sunday's during the summer, or during fright fest.
  23. From what I'm hearing/understanding, Memorial Day.
  24. Whoever made the decision to run one train on everything today needs to be beat. Great amount of people in the park today after the rain. Looks really good in there. Basically every sign, counter, and wall is new or has been repainted. A few flats have been repainted. Ops actually did pretty good for being a first day. Actually, I'll be happy if they stay that way, save for a couple of slow experiences. Can't have everything I guess. I'll post pics and such at the end of the weekend. I missed a few things today. Had to go to work.
