  1. Oh I know the weather was fine. I'm just pointing out that for at least Saturday, they could use that message to cover their a$$ if need be.
  2. Us being enthusiasts know this isn't the case but for what it's worth on Saturday they had a message on the video board on the way in saying "due to weather conditions, some rides may not operate today" so from a "general public" point of view, that covers their a$$. Sunday, however, there was no message like that.
  3. Maybe, so post it on the website. They've done it before. I agree 100% if you have a season pass, however if you bought day tickets for a family trip, paid for parking or paid to stay at a Cedar Point resort then you have every right to be upset when 2 of their coasters (one of which is a 200+ foot, 70 MPH hypercoaster) weren't even approved by the state yet and are perfectly capable of running otherwise. I don't mind mechanical breakdowns, those happen... but this is an entirely different and avoidable scenario. You rarely hear about this happening anywhere other than Cedar Point. I suppose my view is definitely skewed since I have a season pass and visit at least once every weekend. I rest my case.
  4. I think it is quite ridiculous that the park couldn't get rides approved and ready for opening day but who knows, maybe there was outside issues that contributed like a part failure or the 2 coasters couldn't test as much as others because of the weather. I think we all need to relax a bit and just be happy the park is open. It's not like millennium and maverick were the 2 coasters that were down. And it's still a fantastic park minus Gemini and magnum. The park will have both coasters running next weekend in all likelihood so let's just move on.
  5. Just wanted to share this photo from walking out of the park on Saturday.
  6. Kansas city would definitely be a good destination for an expansion franchise. Large city with no hockey and a relatively large and relatively unused arena downtown. Could make for an awesome fanbase.
  7. That's why millennium wasn't open on pass holder preview night in 2015.
  8. So I was at the park both days this weekend. As stated earlier, magnum didn't run at all but was sending trains around from about 3 till closing yesterday with test dummies in it. Saturday ended up being a great day. The crappy forecast kept people away and it didn't rain at all till about 6:30. It stopped shortly after and didn't rain again until we had taken our last ride on maverick at about 10 after 8. It was chilly but mostly everything was open and running well. Even dragster was open for a solid portion of the day and was even running in the rain at the end of the night. Operations and reliability were almost in midseason form which was mind blowing, but an awesome surprise. On to yesterday... Yesterday definitely felt much more like "opening day". It wasn't crowded but there was plenty of down time, staffing issues, and kinda crappy service. In the end though, it was still a great weekend and I'm so excited for a new season of coasters! Scorecard For the whole weekend: Raptor: 3 rides Blue Streak: 1 ride Valravn: 3 rides maXair: 2 rides Gatekeeper: 2 rides Wicked Twister: 1 ride Rougarou: 2 rides Millennium: 4 rides Train: way to much for looks at Mean Streak Skyhawk: 1 ride Maverick: 4 rides Gemini: 1 ride (first train of the year) Pipe Scream: 1 ride Mine Ride: 1 ride Corkscrew: 1 ride Power Tower Drop Side: 1 ride Top Thrill Cubster: 1 ride Thanks to Cedar Point for a great opening weekend!
  9. ^ Lol quebec is finally getting their hockey team.
  10. Yes Gemini opened around 1 o'clock. I was actually on the first train of the season haha. Magnum has been running 2 trains with dummies in it for a couple hours.
  11. So after all the speculation about $hit weather for today, turned out fantastic. About 55 with peeks of sun. Didn't rain till like 6:30 and that didn't last more than 20 minutes. Absolutely fantastic day. Will post more about the visit tomorrow but I'm beat and getting up and doing it all over again tomorrow lol. Nice to have coasters back in my life.
  12. Happy opening day everyone! Wish all of us who are going today the best of luck with the weather.
  13. I have a couple friends there today. I can't believe they are even bothering. In other news, I've been checking out the radar for tomorrow and it looks like the rain will hold off until 3 or 4 o'clock. If that holds up, should be a good day to get some rides in before the rain.
  14. I went on a weekend back in 2011 and it was raining all day. Park or rides never closed. It was, however, in the upper 60s all day.
  15. ^ Millennium usually stays open and maverick does sometimes. Those two are all I need.
  16. Anybody think that with the crappy forecast a lot of people may stay away from the park opening day? I'm looking for any silver lining since I'll be there that day haha.
  17. Stay away from that super 8. You've been warned.
  18. Just curious what online weather source that you guys just generally use. Not necessarily for CP weather just for everyday life.
  19. With CP weather, you can never be sure about what's going to happen until it has already happened. It says 50 and rain right now but it could very well be 30 and snowy or 80 and sunny. And we won't be able to honestly say until the park closes for the evening.
  20. The last couple years they've opened this weekend. I know in 2013 when GK opened, the park opened May 13th.
  21. ^ The report I was referring to was on tv this morning here in Cleveland.
  22. Local weather is calling for 60s and slight chance of rain. As with anything involving CP weather, you never really don't know until you get there. There's no predicting it.
  23. Friends and family day for the ride ops I believe. So wish I was there.
