The park posted this today. Pretty cool but I'm curious as to the full story behind it (unless it missed it at some point). From @HolidayWorld Twitter -

I love Holiday World very dearly, but I do want to point out that they did scatter two of their billboards mere walking distance from different sides of Kentucky Kingdom! There's an extra along the highway near the airport as well. Holiday World Advert Outside KK by Marcus Dorsey, on Flickr There are also numerous HW billboards around Bowling Green. I don't think it necessarily has anything to do with competition with other parks (Beech Bend shouldn't be a concern), but more so with targeting heavily populated areas in close proximity to the park (Bowling Green is 1.5 hr from HW and theres about 100,000 people in the area plus a decent amount of tourism). -

While I do question that marketing technique of KK, the addition of Storm Chaser (RMC hybrid) next year will definitely be a draw at KK. I've previously had no desire to go there, despite living in Louisville, but Storm Chaser has definitely peaked my interest (the first drop being a barrel roll, I mean c'mon). Will this hurt HW at all? Probably not. Just keep in mind that KK is basically a brand new park and just now getting its wheels turning, so don't count it completely out. -

Another example of HW's emmense popularity this summer is that the Louisville.com Twitter account is tweeting pictures from HW today. By comparison, they haven't tweeted anything about KK. With this, it's understandable that the parking areas have filled up. -

I haven't found anyone in the GP who says the Voyage is too fast and rough. Words like "wild", "intense", "crazy", and "insane" are used but never "It was too rough I'll never ride it again." This is coming from a sampling of many different ages and types of people (as in what amount of thrill they like). When anyone I know goes to HW, I always ask two things 1.) How was Thunderbird? (Amazing! So much fun! Rode it # times!) and 2.) Did you ride Voyage? (Yeah I love that coaster! It's the best wooden coaster ever!). And now I digress. I don't think there's anyway to truly explain how much Thunderbird has done for the park and how popular it is. HW was already popular here in Louisville, but it wasn't talked about like it was on the level of Kings Island (about the same distance). This year, I haven't heard ANYONE talking about (or posting pictures on social media from) King's Island OR Kentucky Kingdom. Thunderbird really is the "talk of the town" (other than bourbon, of course). Everyone wants to experience it and it shows from the attendance this year. -

Mayflower is surprisingly fun; you get some serious weightlessness. Gobbler Getaway is great to get out of the sun and always fun. Hallow Swings goes higher, faster, and longer than any other classic swing ride I've been on (although they might shorten the cycle on busier days). Liberty Launch is a good double shot and if you sit on the "back" side, you get a great view of the park. Frightful Falls gets you just wet enough to cool off but not completely soaked. Crow's Nest gives a great view of Thunderbird and the plaza. Everything else are your classic "spinning" attractions (scrambler, flyer, carousel, etc). -

How about this: a brand new RMC (similar to Outlaw Run) in 2017? -

Meanwhile, Kentucky Kingdom has announced a hybrid RMC for 2016. With this, what're the chances one of the woodies at HW gets at least some sort of RMC work? -

I rode all three for the first time today and I thought Voyage was the smoothest of the three. The Legend was the roughest by far. The Raven is the shortest and probably as smooth as The Voyage. While talking with people today, they said Firebird can get up to two hours long midday so I would listen to others about the rope drop race to the back. Edit: I rode Firebird twice and the three woodies by noon today and that is waiting for front seats. Firebird? Thunderbird? They're both sports cars, easily confused, I guess? -

Has anyone seen the 60 fps side-by-side video of Thunderbird that Robb posted on TPR twitter? Its pretty sweet. Plus if you retweet it you have a chance to win a flag that flew on top of Voyage's lift hill, which would be pretty freakin awesome to have. -

I will be traveling to the northeast this coming Monday for a weeklong business trip and I have a loose travel schedule and Hershey is *somewhat* on the way. Would it be worth it to do a Sunset Admission? If so, what is the recommended order of rides to maximize my 5 hours of time? Thanks in advance -

It has been my experience that there has always been music themed to every section of the park. Thanksgiving in particular has bluegrass/acoustic renditions of old hymns. My guess is that the amount of people prevented you from hearing it (which is sad because I feel the music adds a great deal to the theming).
