  1. I plan to be there May 2. That's Derby Day so I'm hoping for lighter crowds as most people from Louisville will be focused elsewhere
  2. With Thunderbird opening this week (what?!), I decided to go back in the forum to a year ago and see what was all that talk then. Turns out it was right around the time of the announcement of the removal of PP/G and the shock/disappointment/indifference that ensued. Oh how things have changed in just a year. Also, it should be noted that over 500 pages of posts have been added to this forum since then.
  3. Which Nashville station?? I hardly watch Local TV and when I do it's The Blacklist on NBC or Gotham on FOX, and when I do I always fast forward through the commercials, but I might have to be on the lookout. On NBC during The Voice
  4. I just saw the commercial in Bowling Green on a Nashville TV station. Very well done
  5. I'm a theming nerd so this makes me quite happy
  6. Looks like Thunderbird carried it's first live riders today, and they seem pleased. Edit: I just read the latest holiblog and that was a few days ago that they rode From @HolidayWorld
  7. I don't think they should post a full POV test video, in my opinion. The one we have is just enough of a tease to keep everyone excited until opening day. It'll be more exciting when we actually ride it if we "Leave something to the imagination" as my father would say (albeit in a completely different context).
  8. A longer launch means less force (per unit time), not more. That's what I said...the launch in the test run appears faster (shorter in duration over the same distance) than the animation and shorter than the originally announced 3.5 seconds so therefore the real life launch appears to be more forceful than originally anticipated (about 0.1G greater when calculated out).
  9. I timed the launch from the video (which can be misleading due to frame-rate time compression), but it looks like the test launch was just less than 3 seconds. A half second longer than originally advertised. That adds, assuming all other factors constant, about 0.1G of force to the launch, which makes a difference.
  10. The puns in this picture are pure genius
  11. ^^^ being a civil engineer, I have NEVER seen a plan sheet like that so I'm all kinds of confused.
  12. Correct me if I'm getting ahead of myself, but with the addition of Thunderbird, I believe HW will have the best collection of night riding coasters out there.
  13. Majestic?... wow. No humping the roller coasters, dude.
  14. I just gotta say I love how this area is starting to "mesh" together Its going to be really nice once all the theming is complete
  15. ^^ I've seen Holiday World billboards while driving I-65 through Tennessee
  16. ^ I don't think it has. And that would somewhat make sense given HW's love for tunnels. I just don't know where it would go on this layout. Maybe coming out of the vertical loop as it crosses over Voyage? One big massive tunnel/building encompassing both Voyage and Thunderbird. Like another barn the bird flies through. I'm dreaming big
  17. It may just be perspective but I'm pretty sure the tree in the right of the s-curve picture will have to be removed
  18. Here it is! (From TPR Twitter) Thunderbird lead car
  19. I'm really hoping that guy was being facetious
  20. A 140ft high point will require at least a 180ft radius crane
