  1. I'm going to guess the catwalk is just for construction (OSHA regulations and all). If its there permanently, that would really take away from the winged launch effect in my opinion
  2. Pathways do have a huge affect on how guests perceive the atmosphere. They essentially guide the eyes of the guests and lead them to see what the park wants them to see. Compare the paths at a Disney park to a typical Six Flags park. It makes a huge difference
  3. ^ I'm confused by your reasoning there with the "I don't think they want people to walk that far." It's going to be the same distance from current pathways to the TB station no matter what?
  4. ^if the pathway renderings are accurate, it appears the pathway to the station breaks off of the current pathway right at Hyena Falls. I'm basing that off of the footings for the Immelmann loop being right next to the slides
  5. So I'm confused as to why lockers is filtered?
  6. Plan to get the the waterpark entrance from Thanksgiving as soon as SS opens. Then head straight for the water coasters. Drop your stuff in a chair next to Bahari wave pool and ride the coasters until the lines start to fill up. Then head to any water rides that seem to have shorter lines. Voyage seemed to be running much better than even last year (I visited in late July this year). The front seat is pretty smooth and the favorite spot for me. The back seat has incredible air time but tends to be rougher. I recommend the front seat on The Legend just because of the roughness this season. Anywhere on The Raven was great. The lines should be short enough that you could ride that one multiple times in whatever seat you want. Eat at Plymouth Rock Cafe. Try some fudge from Mrs Klaus Kitchen. Be sure not to pass up flats like Hallow Swings, Liberty Launch, the Sparkler, and Gobbler Getaway. The Mayflower is also fantastic (get the end seats if possible). Jungle Racers is extremely fun if the line is short. I'm not sure what the hours are the day you're visiting, but if you can dark rides in, here's the priority of what you should hit: The Voyage (absolutely amazing, front seat this one), The Legend, The Raven, Hallow Swings (the lights make it a whole new experience)
  7. Some really good photos in this holiblog post of the first piece of track flying: http://www.holidayworld.com/holiblog/2014/08/19/orange-new-track/
  8. I noticed the same thing but I wasn't sure if they were brand new to the structure or not. Definitely new wood though
  9. I'd say there's a lot of foundation work back in the woods that we can't see that's yet to be completed. They're probably waiting on that, and then all of the steel work can be done at the same time. It takes a lot to mobilize/demobilize a crane and steel flying crew, so they don't want to have gaps where they're not working
  10. ^^ that's a great point about a single rider line. Watching the trains roll out of the station, theres typically at least one empty seat every time
  11. Hah that's exactly what I was telling somebody last night. With the raven being a walk on and the legend 30min+ it would actually make sense to do it. But I'm sure that's quite a process to move a whole train and get it ready and considering it happened in the middle of the season it just wouldn't be feasible.
  12. Don't those trains have some sort of automatic braking mechanism if it senses something wrong? If it's true that it stalled on the turnaround and hit the rollbacks, then it would probably take some work to get everything "unlocked" and operational again.
  13. Woah I didn't hear about that. The turnaround by Zoombabwe?
  14. And while we're on this topic, The Legend was only running one train. There was actually not even a train in the "Stable". The waits for Legend were just as long or longer than Voyage all day Saturday.
  15. That was my question when visiting as well. In fact, I almost got into the 7th car queue for the back seat until I realized they were only running 6 cars. My guess though is it is just to save on track wear and tear. Even with that full queue, it only took 40 minutes to get on the ride and that included waiting an extra 4 or 5 rides to get the very front seat, so I guess it isn't TOO terrible.
  16. Well...that was an effective way to find the youngest posters on this board. Back to actual them park stuff...what's it take to repaint/refinish large water slides like in Splashin Safari? I noticed most of them are starting to get REALLY faded. Especially Bakuli. There's a significant contrast between the top and the underside of the slide. The entire funnel on Zinga is faded/discolored as well.
  17. Well, since school start dates are the hot topic right now... http://www.whas11.com/community/Back-to-school-dates-for-Kentuckiana-districts-268479432.html
  18. ^ yeah, Friday and Saturday were the only days we could go but we expected the crowds and planned accordingly. For the most part, we hit everything at the right time.
  19. ^ good point about schools starting back earlier. Indiana schools started back last week. That seems ridiculous to me - starting school in July. I thought crowds would have been lighter but that wasn't the case
  20. Double post but I wanted to share this with you all. Going up the stairs to the station for the night ride of Voyage last night, we thought "Hey this would be a good place to do a mass selfie" so we yelled for everyone to join in the selfie with my sister and they did. I think it shows how the fun and friendly atmosphere of the park carries over to the people that visit. Voyage Selfie
  21. ^ well if people pay for it, then why not?
  22. What really makes me scratch my head is when people buy bottled beverages at Holiday World. You have free and unlimited fountain drinks (including 2 flavors of gatorade, water, lemonade, and, I think, tea), and you pay $2.50 or whatever it is for bottled water or gatorade or $4 for an energy drink? Why?
