  1. HWSS received the Golden Ticket awards for Cleanest Park and Best Water Ride. Carry on.
  2. Personally, I don't understand why a full "RMC makeover" on any coaster would be required. I can understand Topper Track to make the riding experiences more enjoyable and cut down on maintenance. But all three coasters are world-class designs as they currently stand, so a full makeover would seem unnecessary (at least in my mind).
  3. ^ guessing its a direct result of increased attendance
  4. I went for Halloween Weekends last year on what was (I think) the next to last weekend, and The Legend was still open and operating fine.
  5. I was keeping up with the #EmergencyDrill on twitter and found it to be really fascinating. I've always been interested in emergency operations anyways. Back in the summer when there were several tornado warnings during park hours it got me to thinking "what if a tornado actually hit the park?" It's good to know the park and surrounding agencies have in place a detailed plan and prepare for it thoroughly.
  6. Heard it from my friends that it was packed Saturday and fairly crowded Sunday. I'd expect it to be worse for Rock the World, but lesser crowds Sunday. Oh yeah I forgot that it was this weekend. Guess I'm gonna try for Sunday.
  7. Did anyone attend the park this past weekend? I'm planning on going this weekend and I was curious what crowds are like this season during weekend-only operations and school back in session.
  8. Happy National Roller Coaster Day, y'all!
  9. ^^ so that's at least two first timers who have said the employees weren't as friendly as expected. I wonder if the sudden increase in crowd sizes is starting to overwhelm them?
  10. ^ fair enough. Without actually being able to hear the conversations, it's hard to understand how it came across.
  11. I gathered that the "rudeness of employees" all boiled down to them enforcing basic rules
  12. And this is exactly why any "debates" about the roughness/MCBR/intensity of Voyage are pointless. Just out of curiosity, what were those moments?
  13. Did anybody watch the Travel Channel show featuring Thunderbird last night? A lot of interesting data taken from it on how heart and respiratory rates change throughout the coaster
  14. this is now the best TPR forum page there is
  15. This guy... I tried to keep silent... So you've ridden the Voyage a bunch of times? Cool. You think it's different this season? Cool. Why does it matter what you think? I've ridden the Voyage a bunch of times. I don't think it's different other than a slight pause. Why does it matter what I think? It doesn't I think it's been made pretty clear that everyone has a different opinion of this coaster and any coaster for that matter. I don't understand why you continue to insist that everyone else's opinion is wrong and you're the supreme being of the coasters? You have a different opinion than others? Cool. I don't like bacon but I'm not going to bash and argue with anyone that likes bacon. So if you're going to participate in this forum, please accept the fact that others have different opinions than you and that's what makes the coaster community so great. Enjoy your bacon. Edit: Sorry, Robb took away your bacon.
  16. *Sigh*...Robb, you can't be speaking with reason like that
  17. ^ good solution. Tear it down and rebuild it
  18. ^ let me get this straight, a ride op went out of his/her way to comfort an upset child and the parent COMPLAINED about it publicly on social media?
  19. It's a cover up! They're building another big coaster!
  20. I believe the back(?) side of 4th of July (picnic area) has great terrain for a similar coaster
  21. Dollywood just announced a launched wooden coaster. I'd been saying for years that HW would do that before they got a steel coaster but everyone told me it wouldn't be possible. I still think a launched inverting RMC should be HW's next coaster
  22. Thunderbird has two trains, and 20 seats per train. So it's far from high capacity, but a short ride duration and AWESOME operations keep things moving. Most parks' stated capacities are rarely achieved, but I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Thunderbird's actual capacity is pretty close to its theoretical. I visited the park a couple weeks after it opened this season. During my 10 rides of Thunderbird, I observed multiple staff members and a couple other "official" looking guys (I wanted to think they were from B&M but I couldn't quite decide) closely watching the loading/dispatching/unloading operations and taking note. Each time I rode, it appeared they did something slightly different in the process to try to achieve the highest capacity possible. I wish all parks were this invested in their guests' experiences.
  23. ^ agreed. I think Lauren's line about the need for a "people eater" attraction to be pretty telling of the swell in attendance this hear
