  1. Demolition Man "No, I've never seen that, I've never seen anyone drive thier garbage out to the curb and bang the hell out of it with a stick."
  2. Chasing Amy "It's party time. P, A, R, T. Why? Because I gotta!"
  3. Day of the Dead "No, no. Psychopaths kill for no reason. I kill for *money*. It's a *job*. That didn't come out right."
  4. Hopefully they can get it up and running next year. That would fit in nicely with a trip down to Dollywood next year. That would be cool if they could get the Red Devil running again. That has to one of the scariest looking coasters out there. I have to ride it!
  5. No we didn't ride it. We were headed out when I noticed it and there was allready a good size line for it. I did like the look of it though and snapped a pic. I'll make sure and ride it next time we are at the park. Next time flume ride!
  6. Good time man, good times. Just think of this trip as practice for Labor Day weekend. Only we're going to replace the parks with beer and do a lot less driving.8)
  7. The Calumet Queen was just OK. A pretty standard kolsch. We were really surprised by the Drunk Monk. I was going to go for the Alpha Kong Belgian Strong but at 16%, it was just too late to be getting into that. The brewery wasn't hard to find. It was just further off of the highway than we thought it was. We approached from 65 N to W 30 and it seemed to take forever because of all the traffic lights on 30. It was alot smoother going coming back east on 30 after our visit. Man, I wished I lived only 1 1/2 hours from there. I say go for it ASAP. I'm allready comtemplating a return trip to the area in the offseason. We didn't get to spend nearly enough time there. Tonights brews... The Weyerbacher Heresy Oak Aged Stout. I think that this was from a 2005 batch. Good stuff. Chocolate and coffee up front and I think some vanilla on the backend. Initially had a slight alcohol taste but that disappeared rather quickly. Found a surprise in the back of the beer fridge. A Brooklyn IPA that Derek has hooked me up with a while back. This one was OK. Decent hop presence but tasted a little too watery.
  8. Ah man, I'm allready ready to go back. Jesus, that Drunk Monk was good wasn't it? I was home from work today, let's see what I got into, shall we. Followed it up with some more hops. The Old Dominion Spring Brew. Quite the hoppy little pils. The Rogue Dead Guy. Funny how this one is normally pretty hoppy but not so much after following the Nugget Nectar. The Troegs Nugget Nectar. I forgot how good this one was.
  9. Yeah, my first PTR! For those that peruse the beer thread, you know that I've got no problem posting a PTR of beer, breweries, or bars but I've never done one of the many parks that Kim and I visit. Well hopefully that will change with this one. If I get some positive feedback from this one, hopefully I'll continue to post our most recent adventures and maybe even put up some reports of older trips from this year. Anyway, this PTR is basically a follow up to Derek's report from last weekend of our adventures in Niagara Falls and Buffalo. The next day, after leaving Derek and Nicole, we decided to drive east to Seabreeze in Rochester before heading back down south and home. As for the park, we really enjoyed it. I'm glad that we were able to get there at opening and enjoy the park for a few hours as it is a bit on the smallish side and was allready starting to get crowded when we left. I've heard some people refer to this park as ghetto but I don't know what the heck they are talking about. The park is small but still has a nice, quaint, traditional feel to it and we really liked the proximity of the park to the nearby Lake Ontario which gave off some nice breezes to combat the morning heat. All in all, if your in the area, I would definitley check it out for a couple of hours. Alfred E. Neuman says "Seabreeze Rocks!" Thanks for reading. Seabreeze has these placards all over the park. It's nice to see a park with such an extensive history, celebrate it. Final shot of some of the park's waterpark. It really looks like it's putting a lot of emphasis in this area. Probably a smart move. It looks like the park does a lot of family picnicing, as seen by the large number of picnic pavillions they have available. And we really like these, I think even more than the Gerstauler models. I'd love to ride an extended version some time. This Maurer Spinner is the same deal as the one at Waldameer. Just about time for the Whirlwind to open. Stupid Bear Trax! The Bear Trax is the park's kiddie coaster. It was still a nice, fairly gentle, family woodie. The Morgan train. Uh, not so traditional. As a matter of fact, it is pretty sucky. The Jack Rabbit has a cool looking traditional station. I say "We don't have time baby. We've got more coasters to ride!" Kim says "I could sit here all day." The best aspect was the rocking chairs though. It even acts as a travel center for other local attractions. ...but also doubles as a museum dedicated to the park's extensive history. Not only does it house the recreation of the park's classic carousel that burned back in the 90's... The building that houses the carousel pulls double duty. They had a cute kiddie ride area, including this little car ride. Awwwww. ...and some teacups. The rest of the coasters didn't open until noon, we we wandered around to check out the rest of the park. Including some traditional rides like a tilt-a-whirl... As you can see, Lake Ontario (the smaller version;) is very close and makes for a nice atmosphere. One of the cute little bobsled cars. It was a lot of fun though. The line wasn't too bad so we went around for a reride. We probably could have ridden this a few more times but the line didn't hold out. This is a weird ride. A cross between a bobsled and I guess a wooden wild mouse. Only a few rides opened at 11 am. One of them was the Bobsleds. The park isn't that big but still has some decent amusements. As you enter the park, you can see one of the park's new for 2006 attractions. The Helix is one of those Proslide bowls that you ride down on in a raft. Here we are at Seabreeze. The park has two parking lots. One closer up to the rides and one down closer to the waterpark. As you can see, we chose the latter.
  10. Yeah, we were only there for like a 1/2 hour. In and out. It was getting to the point in the day where we had to start accelerating the pace or we weren't going to get it all done.
  11. Nice pics Ted. We only saw you for a second at Strickers as we were waiting in line for the Tornado and you guys were just getting off. We never did see you again. Also, thanks for the pics of the Cincinatti Mills Mall. We were in and out of Wonderpark so fast yesterday, that we didn't get to see but that small corner of it. We all gave Pacman a during the ride.
  12. Well in anticipation of Derek and I hitting up another top brewery this weekend, I decided to try something that will probably be on tap anyway. The Three Floyds Gumballhead Wheat Beer. These guys brew some pretty wild stuff and this one is no different. Bascially, it's light and malty like a wheat beer but balanced out in the other direction with a buttload of hops. Absolutely awesome. I'm going to have to pick up some more bottles of this. I was going to bring some Three Floyds back home on the plane with me this weekend but I guess that's not going to happen now. Thanks terrorists! They even have directions to the brewery on the bottle. Who need mapquest, when we can just bring the bottle along? The Three Floyds Gumballhead Wheat Beer. A hoppy wheat beer? Only in Indiana.
  13. How about neither. I'm a Jim's Steaks kind of guy! OK, if I have to pick between Pat's and Geno's, I'll go with Genos. Just because.8)
  14. Tonights selection is the Blackberry Wheat from Long Tail Brewing in Vermont. Not too bad. Definitley has a "some-kind-of-berry" taste to it. The Longtail Brewing Blackberry Wheat. I'll stick with my Raspberry Wheat for fruity beers thank you.
  15. I promise you people, I'm supposed to be climbing that wall, no matter what else it may look like I'm doing. The pics turned out good Derek. Just do us a favor and never refer to us as the "Yorkers" ever again. The Silver Comet was running pretty good but not quite as good as it was during the Spring Con in May. Man, it was absolutley tearing it up on that wet track! By the way Dave, I think I can speak for us all when I say that the Anchor Bar wings were pretty good. As a matter of fact we enjoyed the rest of them when we got home Sunday night. There may have been better in Buffalo but it was pretty cool having some at the place where it all started.
  16. The Big A IPA for Smuttynose Brewing in Portsmouth, NH. This Double IPA may not be as complex as some of the others out there but it is all about the Hops. And the warmer it got, the more the hops came out. My mouth is still puckered as I write this. Good stuff! The Smuttynose Big A Double IPA. Feels like a solid hop jab to the face!
  17. The Lake Placid Frostbite. Got this when we were in upstate New York back in June. The guy at the brewery kept calling it an IPA but it's an amber. A really hopppy and delicious amber. A quick bit of trivia, while we were at the brewery the guy there told us that they had recently sold the name "Frostbite" to Anheuser-Busch for $150K. I wouldn't be surprised if their winter craft beer, the Winter's Bourban Cask Ale, had a new name come November. The Lake Place Frostbite Ale or whatever the new name is going to be. No matter what it's called, it a darn fine hoppy amber ale.
  18. Nice report. We'll be hitting the park up next weekend. I'm glad to see that they got the Afterburner back up and running. Saves me a call to the park.
  19. Cool man. We'll be heading out the door in a little bit. See ya around 8 AM.
  20. I've ridden both. I must say that we both really preferred the Goliath at SFOG. While we thought that they both suffered from a lack of height during the course (especially on the first drop) the SFOG version just has such awesome air in the backseat, especially during the series of bunny hills during the finale. I've ridden all of the B&M speedcoasters except Silverstar and while I still put Nitro and Apollo at the top, I definitely think that the SFOG Goliath offers the most fun ride. The La Ronde Goliath, I unfortunately, have to put at the bottom of my list. Like I said before, we didn't ride it under the best conditions. Hopefully we'll get back up there soon and give it another go.
  21. Rode this at La Ronde back in June. Unfortunately, it was a cold, rainy day so I really don't think that we rode it under the best circumstances. For the rides we got (a front, middle, and back), I have to say that while we thought it it was a fun ride, it really wasn't anything special either. The air in the front was rather floaty but not very strong but we did like the pull down air that the back provided. Maybe if we rode it in better weather, the forces up front would have been better. The ride also does a few of those patented B&M speedcoaster bank moves on the turnaround and heading into the breakrun. Unfortunately, because of the ride's highth, your not that far off the ground when they are executed and it really takes away from the thrill factor. Like I said before, we thought it was a fun ride but nowhere near our top ten. We may get back up there again in September to give it another go. Maybe I should do a delayed PTR for the park, as I really haven't seen that many reports from it.
  22. Some of todays imbibing: Dogfish Head 90 IPA. An old classic makes a reappearance out of the beer fridge. Excellent as always. The Terrapin All American Imperial Pilsner. This was an excellent pils. Sweet with a nice hop chaser at the end.
  23. It was a freaking hot summer day today. Nothing like some cool summer beers to help beat the heat. Followed by a Pyramid Curveball. Oh yeah! A Dogfish Head Aprihop was the first order of business.
  24. Glad your enjoying the beers Adam. I really like both of those. Don't worry about the "Me" Face. That was a better effort than any of the ones Derek has tried. Tonights selections: Next decided to hop things up with my last Thunderhead. Just a damn good IPA. I am a fan of the Anchor Steam but don't have any on hand right now. I'll have to settle for the next best thing. The Liberty Ale. My last one. For now.
  25. Well being the last day of the month and technically the last day I could do it, I decided to have a Christmas in July theme for the beer drinking tonight. I of course had to finish up with some Troegs Mad Elf. Mmmm, cherries. First up, a vintage bottle of Bethlehem Brew Works Rudolph's Reserve courtesty of Tom.
