  1. This was posted on our local ABC station. He said it was because he was a male Jew, not anything to do with it being CREEPY for a grown man to go around asking people he doesn't know to let their kids go on a ride with him. Man challenges Six Flags ban in Texas court . Associated Press Posted on November 11, 2013 at 1:51 PM Updated today at 4:02 PM SAN ANTONIO (AP) — A 52-year-old Connecticut man banned from Six Flags theme parks nationwide is scheduled to begin making his case to a jury in San Antonio. Jay Marc Harris, the self-described "Flume Dog," is suing the theme park operator over the ban instituted in 2006. The trial is scheduled to begin Tuesday in Bexar County court. According to court documents the ban came after Harris asked three women at Six Flags Fiesta Texas if he could take their children on the flume ride. Harris had spent more than a decade travelling to parks across the country to ride their flumes — log-styled water drops. The San Antonio Express-News reports that the women complained to management. Harris, who is a Hasidic Jew, argues he was discriminated against based on gender and religion. ___ Information from: San Antonio Express-News
  2. We are trying to put a trip down there over Christmas break. I noticed that Superman won't be open from their Facebook page. Lots of people were asking why but nobody would answer them. They answered everything else, but that one question. SFOT closes down Batman and Mr. Freeze for some unknown reason. It's the great mystery. We're pretty disappointed they are going to have all of them but Superman open. That's one of the best ones out there.
  3. To the guy with his insider info that said the Gotham coasters would be open for Holiday in the Park (the same guy that told us when NTAG would re-open). I just saw the list of rides that will be open on their website and was sad to see those two not on the list. I am looking forward to going Thanksgiving week, early!
  4. We went on Saturday. In four hours we rode two rides. Three, if you count riding the choo choo train around the park. The only ride that didn't have some sort of a delay was Shock Wave, at a 30-45 min wait. That didn't bother me so much. I can remember a time when 30 minutes to ride Shock Wave was the norm. Titan broke down twice while in line. They were running 3 trains, so the long line wasn't so intimidating, as it goes fast on a normal 2 train day, so 3 should make it go faster, right? Nope. An hour or so and 2 breakdowns later we were on. They ended up pulling a train. Guess it was the trouble maker making it breakdown. The breakdowns weren't too long, and not an uncommon occurrence for Titan. I learned a hard lesson. Fall is here, and I wasn't properly layered. That was a cooooold 85 mph!! LOL. Last weekend we were at the State Fair sweating our brains out. This weekend, Six Flags and I was chilled to the bone. I had a jean jacket and medium sleeved top on, with jeans. Next time, layers! Gotta love Texas weather. I have to say that is one of the most busiest times I have been there. We parked waaay back at the back row by the ballpark! The only reason we went was to get our free gold upgrade on our 2014 passes before next weekend. We expected it to be somewhat busy, but with the State Fair still open we were kinda surprised to see it so busy. I30 was a parking lot, both ways getting into the Fair. At least it wasn't a long wait to process our passes. With that being said, we accomplished what we set out to do, so it's all good. The scare zones were funny. My boys had fun in them. I am definitely ready for Holiday in the Park. Especially since it is open all Thanksgiving week!! Gonna take my crew out on that Monday or Tuesday. Can't wait for some Six Flags hot chocolate!! Best ever! Gotta get it at the fudge place though. They put fudge in it. OMG.
  5. If there is lightning within 20 miles of the park they'll shut down all the high profile rides (including Shock Wave). If it is just rainy, no lightning then they only close some of the rides (Pandemonium, bobsled ride, and a handful of others). I've been when it has been off and on rain and rode all of the coasters I wanted to ride. It's a gamble.
  6. ^^Me either. I haven't been to a Cowboys game since they were in Texas Stadium, in the early 90's. And I didn't pay to go to that one! That's smart of Six Flags to do that.
  7. AHHH HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Very clever!!!! LOL! Note to self! Wait, I never go to Cowboy games. The only time we've been to the Death Star is to watch Monster Jam, and that's in February. Six Flags is closed during that. I am surprised they let them get away with that. Too funny!!
  8. We got there at 2pm, today and it appeared to really be packing in. We had to park further out than we ever have. Waited for a good 15 or so minutes to get through check in and bag search. We thought for sure there would be long lines everywhere. We got to Shock Wave and walked right on. I don't know where all the people went but we rode a lot and didn't wait more than 20 minutes, and that was for NTAG. We didn't go through any Halloween stuff. Not our cup of tea. Love riding in the cool temps. Our trip report for today was a good one. All the coasters were a go. My oldest son faced his fear of the Shock Wave and LOVED it. My youngest son that was kicked off NTAG last time we were there, had no trouble getting on today. In fact, NTAG seemed to be back to business as usual. Quick loading, no managers hovering around, up beat ride ops. Great ride! And I also learned something about myself. Limit myself to 2 back-to-back runs on Shock Wave. My son ended up loving it so much that he asked to ride it 3 times in a row. Never again. LOL. I was almost lights out coming off the second loop. All in all it was a GREAT day! Can't wait to go back!
  9. Is it on 1 train operations, and what was the wait time like? Last time we rode it was no wait and we rode it back-to-back without having to get out and come back around because nobody was waiting to ride it behind us. I doubt it's that light of a crowd. Just curious. I wonder how much impact the State Fair is having on crowd flow. We are skipping the over-priced rides and spending Fair Day at SFOT.
  10. YESSSSS!!!!!!! Guess where we'll be tomorrow?? First two rides will be Shock Wave and then NTAG!! YEEHAW!!
  11. ^^ They have them online for $65 for 4 or more. We didn't buy the food passes. It was too expensive for us. We usually pack food, and bring our popcorn buckets for the $1 refills.
  12. Do any of you insiders know if they are going to run the season pass special (free upgrade to Gold) through Holiday in the Park, like they did last year? They said last year that the offer was only good through the end of Fright Fest, then turned around and extended it through the end of Holiday in the Park. Just curious if this year will be a repeat of that.
  13. I don't see any difference in waiting for a card to scan or a fingerprint. I miss the days of having a special gate for season pass holders. But the real hold up in getting in the door is the whole metal detector/search your purse bit after the scanning.
  14. Ya, especially if you consider that one has spent all but a few days this season out of order, and another one spent half the time not running. I do LOVE Titan. It is greatness!! Surprising it ranked lower on the totem pole than Shock Wave.
  15. And speaking of back seat riding. Do ya'll remember how Shock Wave used to only have seat belts on the back car? I quit riding back seat on it for awhile after my seatbelt came unbuckled through the second loop. It happened twice to me. I was practically standing up by the end of the ride. I figured out it was because of the type of seat belt it was. The release on it would catch on the lap bar when going through the loops and release the seat belt. The g force was too much for me to fasten it back in. So, I just rode a different seat closer to the front after that. I didn't go to SFOT for a good 10 years, until Dec. 2011 (not because of that). When we rode Shock Wave, I noticed they re-did the trains and put seat belts in all the seats and the good kind that snap into place, instead of the kind that rub up under the lap bar and come free. Was glad to see that. We were real happy to get to ride backseat again before it shut down, this spring.
  16. When we ride NTAG, it's usually 3 of us because one of my kids is afraid to ride it. So, I usually sit with the kiddo on the first available, and my husband makes a b-line to the end seat, which always has a longer wait for it. He usually beats us on by a train or two because he finds other single riders and gets the bump up in line. Wish my son wasn't afraid of the back seat or we'd be there in line with him. By far, the best seat on that ride! Same way with Titan.
  17. Well, poop. Holding out hope for HIP, then.
  18. When the bulldozers and wrecking balls arrive, I fully expect this page to light up like a Christmas tree. The bigger question is with FF starting this weekend, can we expect our old friend the Shock Wave to be back in action?
  19. ^^You have to wonder if those parents were smoking crack, LOL. There is a reason for height requirements! Ya, I was irritated but didn't make a big stink. More so because it totally caught me by surprise given the amount of times he rode it the day before. I know the guy was just looking out for my kid and can't blame him for that. Not to mention, he'd probably heard about it all day from other riders not making the cut. He was clearly already having a rough day/weekend at a whopping $7 or $8 an hour.
  20. ^^ Yep. That's what I told him. He was so upset about having to get off. And I knew why, and all. So, when we got finished, I explained to him that it's gonna be like this for a little while. He understands, too. He doesn't want to die on a roller coaster, either. He wants no part of those Gotham coasters until he is 54 inches or more. He is super cautious with it, too. He's on the threshold now, but won't attempt it. I think what upset him so much was how more secure he felt after the upgrades. He used to make me hold his hand on it before the accident. The first ride on Saturday, I held his hand to the top of the hill, then he threw it up in the air and then let it go and was hands up the whole way. Both times. I agree, it's the guy. We're gonna go back on the weekend the State Fair opens for Fright Fest. We will re-attempt getting him on. I posted pix of him a couple of pages back in his seat with the new restraints, that I took before he rode the first time. A friend of mine that was up there saw a guy get kicked off because of he was too big. She said he wasn't all that big, and all but did have a pot belly. That was on the same day my son got booted. By next season I am sure it'll have settled down.
  21. ^^And to add to that, the lady behind us leans forward and tells me that I should have made him slouch down in the seat more so that it would have touched more, like her daughter just did and got away with it. You know, the one I mentioned being smaller than him. We were in line next to them. If a blue jean's thickness worth of a space is going to make him fall out then they need to raise the height limit to 54' like they have for Freeze and Batman!! Surely by 54 inches all the thighs will be touching the bar that they want to touch. I understood that they were having to be over cautious right now, and expected them to nitpick every crook and cranny of every seat. I was completely taken by surprise when it happened to him because he has ridden that so much in the last couple of years, and rode it multiple times the day before on OPENING DAY, when you would think they would have made a call like that and didn't. I personally put his seatbelt on and tightened it to the hipbone, and then pushed the lap bar in as far as I could shove it, and even I didn't even notice it. And I look for that stuff (hence Titan). Never a problem and nobody said a word about it, except this one guy on Sunday. There were managers on the platform that I could have flagged down and pitched a fit about it, but I didn't. I saw it for what it was and told him to go stand with his brother not riding. If you want to know, since you want to peg me as one of "those" parents, Mr. Stick in the Mud, he has been a shoe sole's height too short to ride Batman and Mr. Freeze all summer. He cried when he came up an inch too short and couldn't ride. Have we gone and stuck shoes with big soles on him to get him on it? Nope! We have them! And they would make him tall enough to ride! And he'd probably be fine, but safety first! We have a mark on the wall and he stands up to it and we tell him how much more to go till he is tall enough to ride.
  22. Nobody is trying to cause anything. I for one would NEVER put my child in a position to be in any danger. He was clearly ok to ride it for the past 2 years and twice the day before. We had one op that was being over-cautious. There were kids smaller than him on it, just before we got on and behind us! I sat him in the test seat after we got off to see what they were talking about and it was a tiny gap, and not all the way either. He has a bigger gap on Titan. I had to get the operator to re-assure me he was ok to ride it with it not at all touching his thighs on that ride. I got her to come and look at it and she re-assured me that he was safe. And even still, I only let him ride the front seat of the car because it is smaller touches his thighs better. NTAG's lap bars touched more thigh than that even. So, I am not causing trouble and I didn't pitch a fit when they kicked him off. It was over-cautious and inconsistent. If I was gonna cause trouble, I would have run to the manager and made a scene. Guess you had to be there. In answer to the phone thing. We think she slipped it out of his pocket while waiting in line to ride Judge Roy.
  23. That's cool. I've always wanted to see them do that. Never managed to get there at the right time to see it. I wonder why they took it out. So, was the red train the one Mrs. Esparza fell out of and that's why it is out of operation? We decided to have my son wear jeans on our next visit. It was that small of a gap between his leg and lap bar that got him booted off. The perils of being a skinny legged no butt kid. LOL. We were headed over to ride either it or Titan one last time before closing on Sunday, but ended up spending the last 30 minutes of our visit in park security because some chick decided to help herself to my other son's phone. She freaking answered the phone when I called it, said a bunch of stuff in Spanish and then hung up, and refused to answer it again, and eventually turned it off. I had her traced (I have a tracker on my phone) to the front of the park, then nothing. Not a good ending to our day. Phone was a worthless water damaged piece of crap that he was using until I got him a new one for Christmas. Jokes on her!
  24. We've decided that on our next visit to SFOT that we are making him wear jeans. That would fill in the gap between the lap bar and his legs. That is how small of a gap there was. Hopefully they will be a little more calm by then. Hoping to visit during Fright Fest. Hoping to not have the same issue with IRAT when we come down over Christmas break.
  25. We don't have a green light, but a buzzer that goes off up here in DFW. We (my hubby and 2 boys) went on Saturday to ride NTAG, and got in 2 amazing rides with self pulling seatbelts and new lap bars that I think are better. We went back the next day, and went to get on NTAG and something got their attention to my almost 10 year old. They told him he couldn't ride and made him get off. He's been riding that ride since he was 8! They didn't like that the lap bar didn't touch the top of his thighs all the way. We took him over to the test seat and it cleared him to ride. They aren't foolproof or consistent. Obviously there to calm people's nerves. Right now, the mood up here is over cautious. VERY over cautious.
