  1. I certainly wouldn't complain if they do. Especially if it speeds up the check in process. They already implemented the fingerprint scan, which didn't speed anything up for us.
  2. Of course it's still acceptable. You're still young, lol! Although the last time we rode it, my 9 & 11 yr old complained about it. When you have better rides like Titan and Giant, it's easy to pass it up because it isn't worth the beating.
  3. I won't ride it anymore. There isn't enough ibuprofen out there to get me back on it. I hear that was what eventually became of the old Texas Giant. The last time I rode it was in 2001. It was rickety, but not painful. I liked that about it. I heard it got to be really rough. Judge Roy has a good 10 years on Texas Giant. If only RMC would give a shake of their magic wand to it. That's wishful thinking...
  4. Curious what they are doing to make for faster moving lines. And can we hope for the same up here for SFOT?
  5. I'd like to see the people in charge of decision making out there spend some time at Cedar Point and take some notes. Then decide on a new coaster. Something they really should invest in, is a makeover on ol' Judge Roy. It is like riding a one minute long car wreck. It isn't fun anymore. I used to ride it for nostalgic reasons, and for my sons. But they don't even like riding it anymore. It hurts. It also really needs a paint job. It is the first thing people see when pulling into the park. With a little love, riders will return. Now, we pull in and look at it to see how many people are standing in line to ride it. If we see a line at all, we know it's gonna be full crowd.
  6. I went on a crowded day last season and iRat was a 45 minute wait. SFFT unlike SFOT put their best employees on iRat. They really do a great job of moving the line. I'm sure the park will overall be busy but if you should still be able to ride iRat since they really move the line quick. Also don't forget if you use Gold Pass to get in early and just haul to iRat. Ohhh, I didn't even think about the Gold Pass early entry thing. We have Gold Passes. We've only used them once, and they let us in all of 15 minutes early. How early to they let you in over there?
  7. Oh geez. I guess we'll pass. It's not worth a 5 hour drive to stand all day and put up with crowds. And we don't have the money to plunk down on flash passes right now. Guess they'll just have to wait till summer when it's open daily. We tried to come up during HIP, but my husband had an unexpected medical emergency that nearly killed him, so we were stuck like chuck during the week of Christmas. He's only barely gone back to work this afternoon. It stunk, as that was part of our Christmas surprise for the kids. We were going to surprise them with a trip down to ride IRAT. We're just glad he's alive. There'll be other chances to ride it. Thanks for the heads up!
  8. The whole thing was horrible. And I feel for the people who worked the platform that day. If that had me, I'd probably wouldn't be able to return to work on any ride. I also feel for her son, who helplessly watched this all take place.
  9. I have a question. During the week of Spring Break, SFOT is a nightmare. I mean, don't waste your time coming unless you just enjoy standing around all day surrounded by a bajillion people. My husband goes down there to San Antonio for work a lot, and if he does during Spring Break we were considering meeting him down there and hitting SFFT. Is it as flipping crowded an crazy as SFOT during Spring Break, or is it possible to squeeze in more than one ride in a visit? My boys are dying to ride the Iron Rattler. We went down twice last summer. Once with the kids and once without. It was closed during the visit with the kids. They were really disappointed. We've been promising to take them back.
  10. Anybody else get a Leadership Survey in your inbox? Guess they are about to have their meeting of the minds to improve 2014. Got mine today.
  11. I voted for 1 because it has the nifty little Twitter feed. Where I am not "Twitter-pated" all that much, it's nifty for those that are and for the rest who are too lazy (myself included) to get onto our Twitter page and sift through all of the tweets, it saves us that sometimes eye crossing step.
  12. That's before my time, so I haven't the faintest idea. Maybe someone more seasoned or at least more up on SF history would know. My SF memories go back to 79. I have vague memories of the LaSalle ride and the cable cars going over our head. I also have memories of my mom coming off Shock Wave losing her mind from excitement. It was best thing she'd ever ridden and had to get all of her friends and family to come down from Wichita, Kansas to come ride it. We had just barely moved down here from up there. All we had up there was an old woodie from the 40's at a little, now abandoned theme park called "Joyland." Which, incidentally, was my first coaster ride, at 4 or 5 years old before we came to Texas. That was the most any of us had ever seen out of a theme park. Shock Wave was pretty eye popping. That woodie is SPNO, to this day. Sad thing. They have had many people try to buy and reopen the park, and it's yet to happen.
  13. Check this one one out. It'll blow your mind. This guy posted the video of him and his family visiting SFOT in 1962. The park was on its 2nd year. The video was great. His dad apparently followed them around the park. Lots of LaSalle boat adventure, and slides. The one area I could recognize (besides the entry, boatride, and the schoolhouse) was the Texas Depot. My kids even recognized what was NOT there behind it (NTAG). Way cool. Enjoy.
  14. Cool! Thanks. Looks like he has a few oldies on his page. I noticed a Spelunker one, too. He also got the bobsled ride as I always remember it, in blue! Before they changed it from "Avalanche Bobsled" to the Spanish name. If I remember correctly, that was the year it opened. That year or shortly before or after. I remember wanting to ride it real bad. I got on it and thought, "Where's the beef?" LOL. Thanks again for posting the link.
  15. I don't see that going anywhere. Of course, I never imagines the parachutes going. There is a neat you tube video that I stumbled upon from 1987. It was a pretty decent quality for the time. They shot it from the top of the tower. I was a teenager that summer and it brought back memories for me. He gets good footage of The Spinnaker and that airplane ride that was removed for the Superman tower. They got the Shock Wave and it's white paint job and no go-kart track. It gives a glimpse of Spindle Top, the Cliffhanger, and Runaway Mine Train. This was pre-Texas Giant. They even do a little POV on Shock Wave. It was cool. Just search Six Flags Over Texas from tower 1987.
  16. It is closed during Holiday in the Park and on windy days. We went up it a couple of times this past summer.
  17. Layers. Wear lots of layers and gloves. High isn't supposed to get above 32.
  18. You forgot to mention the Superman Krypton Coaster and Poltergeist. Of course there is IRAT. But, after riding both, NTAG was a far better ride, even without the barrel rolls.
  19. I agree with you regarding SFFT! I had never been there till this past summer. I have been going to SFOT since I was 5 or 6 years old, back in 1979-80. My only other park experiences have been SFAW (back when it was just AW) and Frontier City, in OKC. I always felt like OT was the superior park, by far. This past summer we went down to San Antonio, and went to SFFT. Where it is a smaller park, we were very impressed by it. I was especially impressed with how efficient they were. Lines didn't seem stagnant, and it seemed more "guest friendly." In fact, I was telling a friend today, while in line for Texas Giant, about how they have test seats outside a lot of their coasters, and several have rows with restraints designed for large people (ya, we were talking about the accident). The atmosphere was great, and my family loved the "Lone Star Nights" fireworks/laser show they did on the cliff wall at closing time. We want to go back. SFOT rides are better and in more supply, but overall I thought SFFT was a better park. They seemed to be all about the experience and did a great job at it.
  20. I always do the surveys. I am always hoping to win tickets for my friends. Hasn't happened yet. Also, I do like to leave feedback, both positive and negative, in case somebody is paying attention at corporate. Right now the big question is do we go tomorrow or just do it today? Last Saturday was a nightmare crowd, from what I was told by a friend that went. Not feelin' it today but a big cold front is coming Sunday that will make it miserable to ride coasters on, if they run them. Monday's high is 32! Trying to decide if we should make the gamble it buck up and do it today. Decisions decisions.
  21. I have yet to visit the park and not have Titan go down at least one time. I have never seen them go row by row and tell the problem. That is so crazy. I have had it go down after having been seated and lap bar down. They turned around and popped them open. I have never had them tell us what's wrong. We went this week and my issue was on NTAG. After a lengthy barf clean up, they finally opened back up and we got on (my 2nd time to ride it that day) and as the lady checking restraints came to mine she proceeded to question me about my hat tucked under my hood. Well, it's 37 degrees, and so I had a hat that tied under my chin to protect my ears from the cold wind, and it was completely covered by the hood of my coat that was draw strung pretty snug. She saw the edge of it and insisted I remove it even after I showed her that it was tied down and my hood tied down. It hadn't been a problem to any other ride ops, Titan and NTAG included, all day. It wasn't and hasn't gone anywhere. I had been asked in visits past. As soon as they saw it was tied down and my hood was secure they were fine with it. As soon as I got out of her sight I put it back on! It didn't budge! She was just being unreasonable. I understand why they don't like hats on that ride, but secure hats aren't going anywhere. The stair lady was pretty clueless about a disabled entrance/elevator. My hubby had a problem with his ankle and was on crutches. I asked her about an elevator or disabled entrance and she had no clue. They send out surveys like they are trying to look like they care. I wonder if they actually read them.
  22. We went yesterday and it was kinda busy but not horrible. I predict it will be very busy this weekend. Next week, however, should be a nice light crowd. If it's anything like last year. We didn't stay long, but plan to return on Monday. I did get a chance to experience Titan with seatbelts. To be honest, I really didn't notice any different. Texas Giant was great as always. I have to say that I can't recall a visit to Six Flags and Titan NOT going down. It's not usually for very long, by it always happens.
  23. We went on the night before Thanksgiving. Titan struggled to open and for the entire time we were there (pretty much open to close) it wasn't open. In line for Texas Giant, I saw them run empties. I heard other people talk about a line waiting on it to open and park staff saying it might open soon. I don't think it ever did. If so, it was very short lived. It was butt cold and so I wonder if temps might have had something to do with it. We are supposed to be going with my kids' Boy Scouts on Saturday but forecast is not looking good. Even more butt cold than last week and precip with it. I have mixed emotions on the seatbelts. For me, NO! I love that moment of feeling like I am floating out of my seat on the that one spot after the second dip. For my son, the lap bar doesn't touch his lap and he's 54 inches tall. It seems like it should go down more. It isn't as bad in the front seat of each car, but still it doesn't touch his legs. He's been fine, and the ride ops assured me he was safe. They asked him to stand up and he couldn't. He rides it all of the time. I heard another mom say the same thing. It's a peace of mind thing I guess. It's all psychology. Titan in 90% positive G's, so it's less airtime and more like you're becoming one with your seat. Highly unlikely anyone's gonna come out it.
  24. I didn't see Poltergeist listed on their ride selection. We are going in mid-December so my boys can get to ride IRAT. Was hoping for another round on Poltergeist and Superman, but will have to be happy with IRAT, Goliath, and Boomerang.
  25. I've heard the same rationale for SFOT closing Batman the Ride and Mr. Freeze. Goliath is the same ride as Batman the Ride and is open at SFFT Holiday in the Park. Our home park is SFOT, and we have always loved going to Holiday in the Park, even is we're freezing snot to our faces on Titan at 45 degrees! LOL. The snowhill is way fun and the hot chocolate is hands down the best I have ever had.
