  1. If we included the categories in which we placed second, it would be wooden coaster, water park and friendliest (oh, plus Raven was #8 and Legend #18, etc.). We decided to stick with the actual Golden Tickets for the news release rather than list every mention we received.
  2. Um, looking at your profile picture, I'm re-thinking that whole concept.
  3. ^ The worst part is that playing food music in Thanksgiving was my idea! Once we settled on Thanksgiving (I fought a brave battle for Valentine's Day, but lost to the less romantic souls on our staff), I suggested "food music" to keep us from just playing "We Gather Together" in a loop. ... but I never dreamed we would subject our Guests to the likes of "Peanut Butter & Jelly" and "If all the raindrops were lemon drops and gumdrops, oh what a world this would be."
  4. Agreed! I get a few emails each season (and now, tweets) claiming we play "old fogie" music. Them's fightin' words!
  5. It started out as Will Koch's personal playlist (the three B's ... Beatles, Beach Boys and Buffett) and now Dan Koch has added some of his favorites as well. Okay, have to ask - would you reveal your age? Just wondering if we're all in the same range together. Thanks! Paula
  6. Well, folks have always said we're located in the middle of the corn fields. I guess they're right.
  7. ^ Ah, so you haven't experienced the winter-of-2011/2012 track work. Really made a difference, imo.
  8. Gee, thanks so much. (When did you last ride Voyage, if you don't mind me asking?)
  9. The "Forward Fliers" aren't going to make an appearance this season, if ever, sorry ... we've brought in more Round Spinners to keep us running at highest capacity possible. Backstory: The FFs were designed to accommodate those who might need additional, um ... rump room. The seats on the Round Spinners looked a little confining. Turns out that hasn't been a problem, though (that I've heard of, anyway). The FFs needed more design work - so we concentrated on the Round Spinners for this season. Thanks, Paula
  10. They were tested on Raven since that coaster was available at the time. Voyage track was undergoing some TLC at the time.
  11. I've always through Easter as a themed park section would be cause of constant consternation. Why? Too religious for some and not religious enough for others. We'd never satisfy the masses. (Oops, sorry, my Catholicism just slipped out for a sec ...) But then, who am I ... ?* *Oh, yes, the one who deals with the complaints.
  12. What a difference a month makes - it was FREEZING the days they were here (June 1 & 2) and the first thing they all did was purchase jackets. Today ... 104 in the shade. Henry, the science editor, is a great guy - and mentioned how other coaster designers he contacted didn't want to talk. So - thanks, Lord Chadwick!
  13. ^ Thanks. I think it's more "I don't want to hear your excuses - this is my vacation and I expect unlimited diet Dew!"
  14. ...Really? I don't understand how anything about this can be worthy of complaint. Oh ... don't get me started ... Overall, our efforts were highly appreciated. But there were some who were upset that we didn't have our usual variety available. Sigh.
  15. I think I wish I could have ridden. I was out in the Voyage acreage with a Travel Channel scout. Dan rode with the test dummies - we'll have a video in a few days. It looks like a blast!
  16. I'll go out on a limb and credit the LIMs for that.
  17. Aw, you missed seeing all the photos: http://www.holidayworld.com/holiblog/2012s-maiden-voyage
  18. That's exactly what we thought: https://www.holidayworld.com/holiblog/any-peeps-wanting-see-other-mammoth-boats I never even saw that blog post. Here's your chance to add Easter to your holiday lineup. It's okay to venture outside of the TPR Clubhouse once in a while and read the HoliBlog. I'm pretty sure they'll let you back in afterwards ...
  19. Yes, the riders will choose which boat. And yes, the "row boats" have roomier seating.
