  1. Attention to detail is important if you want to make mom happy. Mom is the one who decides what the family is going to do, and most importantly if they are going to go back and do it again. Cedar Fair seems to understand this. This is the newest bathroom update at Valleyfair shown below. Valleyfair is ROCK BOTTOM of the Cedar Fair chain and it still gets additions and improvements like this. When is the last time you have seen a Six Flags restroom look anything close to this? People notice details. A theme park is an experience you are selling, not a collection of 10 different 2 minute experiences on the the best rides in the park with mediocre/average experiences the other 7 hours you are in the park.
  2. I think if the only way you can sell a Six Flags St Louis pass is by saying that you get Great America too then there is something majorly wrong with that. Six Flags has pricing integrity in all the wrong ways. A one day guest without pre-purchased tickets can not get in and out of the park for a day with 2 meals for under $120 dollars. Thats why Spanos said they need to get day ticket holders back. All the people who were open minded enough to give Six Flags a try for a day were probably royally pissed off. It doesnt help when you see people walking around with their diamond lanyards too cutting the line for the ride you are about to ride. As a passholder I love it, but as a normal person (who is what they need, families with disposable income instead of teens and people that use the dining plan 56 times a season for dinner after work) I would feel beyond worthless. At least ill remember to hold onto my buns though (yeah, that was a real six flags ad).
  3. Em, the only pass you can buy that will get you into both Cedar Point and Kings Island is $200. No, that's not true. They sell a pass that is one day at CP and one day at KI for $65. https://cf-ki.secure-cdn.cf.accessoticketing.com/packageDetails/10057672/keyword/coastercombo?_cid=1592168972.1588206762 Thats called a ticket not a pass but ok if you are comparing a whole season at one park with a day at another I think that’s indicative of a pretty significant quality difference or a better pricing model.
  4. Em, the only pass you can buy that will get you into both Cedar Point and Kings Island is $200.
  5. According to a coaster studios video some rides were sold but nothing about which ones. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Most credible rumor is that only the carousel and the growler spinning tornado ride have been removed. Nothing to worry about.
  6. That is the problem with people. They want what they can’t have and they don’t want what they do...... until they can’t have it anymore.
  7. Holiday World just wanted Kentucky Kingdom to Geauga Lake it. It would have been water park only best case scenario. They do a good job, but they are not going to duplicate their costs and compete with themselves. They wouldn't battle themselves over the Indianapolis market with two parks. The only way I see it happening is if Dan and the General that went down to Alabama acquire it. They are not affiliated with the extension of the family that is currently running HW.
  8. It does look great! Keep in mind this could easily get pushed back to 2022 or later given current events. Just don’t want people to get their hopes up too much and get let down. I think it will happen, but it remains to be seen when.
  9. ^ Considering they are losing money right now and will be for the forseeable future rather than making millions as they expected, probably nothing. I don't mean to be a debbie downer, but all additions are going to be the first things to be cut. This is pretty much the absolute worst case scenario any theme park could have imagined.
  10. That's fair, I'm not going to pretend previous management did a great job. Ride uptime is usually just about the only thing that corporate procedures are really good at. I do think someone like Cedar Fair would just scrap lost coaster for being too unreliable though. Hopefully whoever buys the park isn't a corporate bean counter.
  11. Alright guys this one just might get saved. We really need to do a better job of talking these smaller parks up though. IB is not the place you can just credit stop once in your life for 2 hours. It’s about the boardwalk and a weird pirate themed sally dark ride and the thrill of getting to drive through cornfields and have an amusement park pop out of nowhere. It’s also the only park that has a bar directly below a sky ride loading station! These type of things cannot be plastered on a billboard using traditional advertising. Word of mouth is always what will make IB thrive.
  12. I believe you. Also I could see them wanting to make it bigger to easily advertise it with 100 foot drop and to differentiate it from Oscar's Wacky Taxi.
  13. Plans were just released that heavily suggest that Dorney will be getting a shuttle wooden coaster in 2021 similar to switchback railway at ZDT's. The only thing that some are worried about is it appears that Possessed is not in the site plans. I however do see the corresponding station for it, so I think the worry is a bit premature. But Cedar Fair has been looking to get rid of rides with low reliability/high operating and maintenance costs, so it could be on its way out. But it looks like finally a new coaster for Dorney after 16 years which is fantastic! https://southwhitehall.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Dorney-Park-Attraction-Master-Site-Development-Plan-Sheet.pdf
  14. Good things look very imminent! Good gosh everyone knows we could use some positive news right now. https://www.pharostribune.com/news/local_news/article_e7162c58-7b43-11ea-a504-6782ca71fe03.html?fbclid=IwAR280YR565Jfk50zT2uOlX1kTX3MXN9WaWdhfRJLBcNTIzbIYSOFb_S9omk Even more shocking news from the article: "But it’s her understanding that those involved in the potential sale want the park operational this year."
  15. Its possible its still a go, but it looks unlikely at this point. I think its more of they want something to market next year when they actually have a season. And supposedly this ride was supposed to have an indoor queue with live snakes around you and under you in the floor, which all sounds very expensive if true.
  16. Well, Apex parks group has filed for bankruptcy. No wonder they are being so difficult about season product refunds. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/apex-parks-group-announces-financial-044800755.html
  17. Well I hope if they do reignite this project at some point that they give it a new name. Sidewinder Safari is a terrible name IMO and doesn't sound like a roller coaster at all.
  18. Sidewinder Safari page has been taken down from SFDK website and the link leads to a page that says access denied. https://www.sixflags.com/discoverykingdom/newfor2020 Six Flags also said today they are cutting 40 to 50 million of discretionary spending. Is Sidewinder Safari getting pushed to 2021?
  19. It's not their strategic vision. It's their personal vision.. things like outsourcing your call center to the Philippines and not even providing health insurance to your furloughed employees. I think that was the primary reason Rivera left. The parks are closed now anyway, so what else would have been the final straw? If you type in Seaworld the Layoff and go to thelayoff.com you can read all sorts of anonymous insider information from disgruntled employees. https://www.thelayoff.com/seaworld-entertainment
  20. Employees wrote an open letter asking for Scott Ross to be removed. 0% chance it happens, but at least they are putting his name into the light a little bit so he knows his actions within the company are eligible to face public scrutiny. https://www.orlandosentinel.com/coronavirus/jobs-economy/os-cfb-seaworld-open-letter-20200407-rmk3fveihvemlinyecdayal2bm-story.html
  21. While I wholeheartedly agree with you, I also would go out on a limb and say that you and I care about these parks much more than the average person. Businesses are not charity cases, but in the current capitalistic environment the high ups are going to take their lofty salaries no matter what. Whatever is left goes to the parks. I’m sure the people of Houston Texas wish corporate greed and mismanagement didn’t take away their park for life.
  22. This is getting ridiculous. He probably had Scott Ross and the board breathing down his neck. They need to actually give the CEO some liberty and creative control in the future if they want to retain one. Reilly would have been perfect, he has been with the company a long time and loves the parks but nope he wasn’t good enough either and now he’s at Palace. Also, this is the EXACT SAME REASON Antorcha gave for his resignation. “According to the release, Rivera said his resignation was due to disagreements over the board’s involvement in the decision making at SeaWorld.” It’s obvious Scott Ross just wants someone to be a figurehead for the company and his personal b**** boy and these executives are not going to take it. There needs to be some major self reflection in the upper management of this company. The animal ambassadors are so passionate and dedicated, but as an outsider the corporate structure seems beyond toxic to me.
  23. ^Just be careful. Carowinds hasn’t technically confirmed this yet, so if you choose to make that assumption the risk will be on you. Seems likely, but best to get some official word before dropping over $300. Knott’s has always been treated a bit differently than the rest of the chain. Edit: Actually, I think you could be onto something. If you purchase through Knott's, given that there is no restriction on the park in which you must process it like there is for Six Flags, they will have to provide the advertised service which is free admission until Dec. 31, 2021.
  24. The thing is, looking at how things are right now you might only get September/October and Merry Farm free this year anyway. Most regional parks include those with the purchase of next years pass as it is. They are essentially selling 2021 passes at this point with a yet to be seen added bonus that is similar to what Six Flags and all other Cedar Fair parks offer with current year admission included starting in late August. Instead of refunding everyone they are guaranteeing strong 2021 season pass sales. If they refunded there is a chance those people would not buy 2021 passes either, so at least the park is guaranteed to keep their money in some capacity this way.
  25. Keeping your membership going if it at all works in your financial situation wouldn’t be a bad idea either.
