  1. If your fantastic prayer comes true I will become a believer.
  2. I completely agree. Cedar Fair's CFO said last November that VF is one or their top 3 growth parks so we will see over the next 3-5 years if they invest to grow the park.
  3. You were informed incorrectly. Both the Tilt-A-Whril and Scrambler are being restored while adding LED lights for night time riding and being relocated to the new Route 76 area at the front of the park this year.
  4. This hint backs up my guess then of it being the first 350 ft. Intamin Frog Hopper that goes through six fire rings of death.
  5. 1) At most an hour but usually around 30-35 minutes at it's busiest so I would not recommend a Fast Pass. 2) Yes, you will easily be able to hit all of the coasters in one day with re-rides like VF15 indicated. If you have to have the Wild Mouse credit or just need to ride it you may want to hit that first because due to it's low capacity and being a family ride the line gets long quick and moves slow. It's not the most efficient path to start there as far as walking but will help you avoid that line. If you can skip that I would go in the order of Corkscrew, High Roller, Renegade, Excalibur, Wild Thing and then Steel Venom. If you start at 10 am you could be done with a ride on all those in about 3.5 to 4 hours easily if you go straight through them with the rest of the day for re-rides. Wild Thing: The front car gives you the best airtime. High Roller: If your not in the front row chose the middle seat of the car you choose for the best ride. Steel Venom: If you do not get the front row seat you can choose the 3rd row right side and you still have an unobstructed view of the sky on the first spike. I would suggest also trying a row towards the back to experience that side of the ride. Remember the brake does work on this coaster for that 'oh cr*p' moment on the back spike. Renegade: Last row and 2nd to last are my favorite rows because being at the end they get a little more thrown around (in a good way). Front row once too just to see that twisted drop hill from the top. Also, if you stay at the park until dark this is a MUST ride because the whole back of the coaster has no lighting on it or coming from the park. Don't get caught in line for this ride between noon and 1:30 pm because that is when they drop the 2nd train usually on a Saturday and it takes 20-30 minutes for that process. I have idea why they don't open with 2 trains on the weekends for this popular ride. 3) The other suggestions here for in the park are good. 4) A hidden gem is the old school bumper cars if you like them. They are not on the main path and easy to overlook. Have a good time on your visit.
  6. A nice aerial shot of Northern Lights from Valleyfair's Facebook page. You can also see from here just where the Antique Auto's track will go under Wild Thing's turn around. Looks like the spot for the Scrambler has just been started too. Aerial shot.
  7. ^ They put sand volleyball courts where IMAX used to be. Hopefully these are temporary to be replaced by a needed water park expansion in 2015. They also put a performance stage where Scrambler used to be.
  8. ^ Agreed. Plus the park already has a great impulse/shuttle coaster in Steel Venom. An SLC would take this park backwards and would not be welcomed by me at all. After the snow fall last night construction will unfortunately probably be halted for today.
  9. And from the Valleyfair Twitter account they have announced the arrival of the refurbished Tilt-O-Whirl, it used to be white and light blue. On the flatbed there it looks to be the fencing of the ride and they have painted them red/orange and yellow now.The car looks to be blue and grey. Hopefully we get to see a new one assembled soon. Newly arrived Tilter parts.
  10. Valleyfair just posted five pictures of the construction progress with Northern Lights on their Facebook account. They finally have hump! Curious to see the train and how the design and colors turned out, should be soon now. The track looking almost complete. Another angle.
  11. The Quimet era for CF seems to get it with moves like this. The Boardwalk at Knott's and Route 76 at Valleyfair are just two more examples of bringing back classic attractions and theming them well. Thanks for the pictures, it really looks good with all the love the park received this off season in sprucing it up. And how can you not like the Singing Mushrooms making a comeback?

  13. Interesting. Valleyfair just posted via their Twitter account: "Some great additions happening in Soak City Waterpark this season. More information to be announced soon! #notanaprilfoolsjoke" I am a little shocked by this late announcement but welcome it. I wonder what it could be.
  14. Just an update from a Minneapolis paper. http://www.startribune.com/local/252915261.html LAKE DELTON, Wis. — A police report cites a faulty safety bar on a roller coaster in an accident that left a rider with severe injuries in a fall at a Wisconsin Dells area indoor resort. An attorney for the family of 63-year-old Anthony Theisen says he remains in a coma at University Hospital in Madison with numerous fractures and a brain injury. Lake Delton police say Theisen fell nearly 17 feet from the roller coaster to the concrete floor at Mt. Olympus Theme Park on March 6. Theisen's wife, Kay Theisen, was riding in the same coaster cart and told police her husband's lap bar unlocked when they went around a corner, throwing him into the air. Officer Troy Spencer wrote in his police report that he checked the four lap bars in Theisen's cart several times and found three bars could not be pulled up. But, the fourth bar, where Thiesen was sitting, came unlocked. "It appeared that the lap bar on Seat #1 locking mechanism was stripped. I checked the lap bars over three times to make sure Seat #1 was the only seat to come unlocked, which it was," Spencer wrote. Police interviewed several witnesses at Mt. Olympus, including a maintenance worker who told investigators the ride was working properly during test runs that day. Theisen's attorney, Todd Korb, said a safety test was done on the ride earlier this week. Sand bags to simulate Theisen's weight were placed in the seat he was using, Korb said, and when the cart reached the point on the track where Theisen was ejected, the lap bar opened. Mt. Olympus said in a statement released by general manager Adam Makowski that the company has fully cooperated with Lake Delton Police and the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services. It's the first time an accident of this type has occurred at the theme park, the statement said. The roller coaster will remain closed pending the results of an investigation.
  15. So, does anyone know if the Vekoma version of this ride is powered by how loud you scream 'OW...OW...OUCH!'?
  16. Sorry, I cannot agree with you. Until the majority of the GP change their behavior at parks they will not earn my respect. And I don't love them either, I just consider them a 'necessary evil' that is needed to support the economics that allow parks to build the big toys that I like to play on.
  17. ^ Scrambler and the Tilt-O-Whirl spots have been empty since last fall as shown by the winter pictures below. VF has indicated via Facebook and Twitter that those rides are being restored and having LED lighting packages put on them but I have not seen them make an appearance yet in Route 76. When I drove by the park a couple weeks after closing last fall I saw they had the Steel Venom queue line all removed and the concrete was cut out at that same end to accommodate the Tilt-O-Whirl going there. Since this end is where they are moving all the parts and equipment in and out of the park for Route 76 I expect the Tilter to be the last ride in place. To me it will be interesting to see how they re-do the Steel Venom queue line with all the new rides taking up more space in this area of the park. Space where the Tilt-O-Whirl was. Place where Scrambler was and my guess as to where they will be building the new Auntie Anne's Pretzel palace.
  18. Valleyfair posted pictures of the Northern Lights track that arrived yesterday via their Facebook account this morning. The pictures are below. They have 7 more weeks to get it done before opening. Nice to see more progress towards that. Track piece in the parking lot. More pieces. Supports inside the park.
  19. Valleyfair just posted some Route 76 construction pictures to their Facebook page. Finally, some real progress! The construction cam is down so my guess is they had to take down the cam because it was mounted on something that needed to be moved temporarily so they can move the Northern Light train and track pieces into that area. Below are two of the five pictures they posted. Northern Lights loading station. Another shot.
  20. Way to take one for the team. Now forget about what you just did and get back out there and film another coaster ASAP before this experience actually sets in.
  21. I would like to see the decision making process of how a park decides what type of ride they will add next. (Preferably a coaster. ) What all factors into the decision:, decide how big the budget will be, ride placement in the park, marketing campaign to support the new ride, naming the ride, how much influence does a park have in the decision if it is part of a chain that has HQ input versus a solo owned and operated park, how they work with the manufacturers and what help do they get from them when choosing a new ride. I just don't think any company would want to share information like this though. Maybe Circus Circus could share their story for El Loco since it is new and they will be in Vegas.
  22. ^ My guess is that the new pretzel palace called "Auntie Anne's" will go where the Scrambler was. If you look at the VF website it indicates that Auntie Anne's will be located 'near the carousel' which that spot is. It also makes sense because that is right next to the Cinnabon shop so water and electricity is already right next door to that spot and would be easy to extend. This is only a guess though, I have no information at all about it. I would take a Sling Shot ride there for sure but I am always about new rides. Maybe they could surprise us but I doubt it. A Sling Shot could easily fit in where the Amphitheater sits now and with that not being on the park map the last 2 years you have to imagine something will replace it in the next 2-3 years. We'll see what happens.
  23. Valleyfair sent out the tweet this morning of, "First track piece of Northern Lights made it to New York. Next stop, Valleyfair!" with no picture. Source: They also changed the angle of the construction cam to focus on the area where Northern Lights will be built and not on the loading station for the Antique Cars like before. A shot of the new angle. The track may be on the way but with snow last night winter is still here.
  24. If? What other kind of males are there?
