  1. If anyone doesn't know this, the paintball fields in the eastern fields of the park and the boneyard are open throughout the winter time. Just saw a picture of it today and it reminded me.
  2. Cheetah Hunt's lead car looks awesome with the "eyes" built in.
  3. Cedar Point
  4. Top Thrill Dragster
  5. Granted, but it caused your computer to crash and lose all it's files. I wish most parks were open year round.
  6. Friday- Very light crowds( as in no wait at all for superman, boomerang and all haunted attractions) probably because of the rain and cards game. Saturday- EXTREMELY BUSY! Comparable to a concert day or a busier than usual 4th of July. There was a 2 hr wait for Batman at 7 PM, and Freeze had a full queue up to the bridge over Thunder River( about a 1 hr wait) Today- it's a coupon day for pass holders, so I'd assume large crowds because of that and the weather.
  7. Definitely, there's things like trick or treating, story telling, and family shows. At about 6:30-6:45 the actors start to disperse throughout the park. ^The 3 times I've been to Fright Fest this year there were 3-5 chainsaw-wielding "Jasons" in the Britannia area.
  8. I'm not sure if it is chain wide, but I did get the chance to try that out during the summer (July I believe). It is a very disorienting experience, and you don't realize how far back the chairs lean until it goes backward! Definitely much different than riding it forwards.
  9. Top Thrill Dragster for intensity and being mind-blowing, with Maverick for the complete ride experience.
  10. I like this much better than any mobile browser. No need for any zooming and scrolling.
  11. Holidead, the scary Christmas themed Train opens this Friday, October 4th.
  12. Went out to Fright Fest last night and man it was busy! Pandemonium had a 1 hr wait at 6 PM and I heard Colossus was using multiple gondola sets instead of just one. I only did the haunted attractions (minus Zombie Paintball Apocalypse) and here's what I thought: Prices for Mazes: $10 each, $15 for Slasher Pass ( unlimited entry to all 4), and a $25 Express Slasher Pass ( unlimited entry + front of line access). Spoiler Alert!!!! Slaughterhouse- The corn path under the building was uninteresting without any fog to separate the actors from your range of vision. For those who visited last year, the in-attraction photo has moved to a much better location with some better opportunity for scared faces in the picture. It definitely got me! Also, the end seems to have a pretty anti-climatic scene with your group walking around some 55-gallon drums with a CGI effect in the background. The pacing seems to be a little off, yet it still delivers scares, especially with the hydraulic "electric cage." 6/10 for me. Blind Fury- This is probably my favorite haunt out here this year, just as it was last year. The whole beginning scenes are the exact same, with a little show in the first room. After the moving-wall maze, there is now the mirror room. The only thing I miss was the toy monkey room right after the maze section. He has been moved a couple scenes forward, yet it is so foggy (on multiple times though) that you don't even recognize that it's supposed to be a monkey, and you just hear the symbols. The spinning tunnel is one of the best I've been in and the dark zone really heightens the fear. LOTS of loud noises and air cannons this year, which make this more of a high-startle attraction instead of the creepy factor of a toy factory. The doll characters are much, much better than before. 8/10 Insanity Alley- While this hasn't done much for me in the past few years, I would now consider it to be on par with the rest of the Fright Fest attractions. Lots of air cannon machine guns are used and more fog is filled in between the "scenes." My favorite part is still the "sinking dirt" in the first minute or so behind the Batman lockers. That gets me every time, and everyone seems to not expect that at all. This is one haunt to save for dark, as there's no roof whatsoever and the fog disperses quickly out there. Very short, yet somewhat effective. 5/10 just for how short it is. Total Darkness- Having done a blackout-type maze before, this met my expectations very well. The only problem is that it's very low capacity ( but it has to be being a physical maze in the dark). You and up to 4 others are given a rope so you don't separate and are sent down the theater stairs in the dark. When you turn the first corner, the fun begins. It's extremely loud with eery sounds and screaming echoing through the whole theater. The actors are actually pretty good at finding your group in the dark and whispering in your ear and brushing past you. The total time in the maze is about 3-4 minutes on average, but it feels like a lot longer when in there. It's completely dark except for a slow strobe light about halfway though, and your eyes don't seem to adjust to it. 8/10 I also went through the Circus and Cannibal walkthroughs near Total Darkness and the log flume, respectively. They are in normally backstage areas that the park has opened in order to expand the free entertainment. Very well done! My favorite actor has to be the ghostly lady with the baby carriage "pop-up," or the 3-4 people in black Morph Suits. This years event is much scarier and thorough than it has been in the past!
  13. If anyone was wondering, the Fright Fest site is up, listing all attractions and pricesfrightfest.sixflags.com/stlouis/. I noticed that the Slasher Pass (Haunted House Unlimited Entry) is somewhat cheaper at $15 for 4 attractions. The Express Slasher Pass is now only $25, compared to around $35 last year. I have also heard that Zombie Paintball Apocalypse will be a $15 up charge.
  14. Has anyone seen all the effort put into Fright Fest this year? Walking through the entire park today, I saw more decorations than I've ever seen while the event is running (We're still 2 whole weeks away!). All the haunted attractions are receiving their facades this week, and something else struck my eyes. Apparently there is a fairly large "clown themed" walkthrough with a spinning tunnel and all, located near Sound Stage #2 (Total Darkness). It also ventures through the backstage area and under that train tunnel with lots of circus tents and theming. Anyone remember when they had the clown walkthroughs in front of the palace and where Pandemonium is now?
  15. Tsunami Soaker And this will fit the current site with some slight but not major modification, plumbing will probably be drawn from the restrooms next door or they can just repipe. I cant wait to see what this area is going to look like afterwards, and I hope they open the line of sight up coming from the backlot area Yes, it is in the Gateway to the West section, but it does not specify exactly where it will be.
  16. I also rode that hayride last year, and it was a disaster! Very limited paintballs and targets so close that the paint splatters back at you. But, this year, the hayride at creepyworld is a separate charge attraction. The protection required for the actors is completely out of character for the whole theme. I would suggest that they stick with their old hayride through the dark boneyard for a better review. If it is definitely changing to that extent, I really hope the Terror Train is beefed up for more theming. Total darkness looks like it's going to be very interesting, as they had a blackout maze also at creepyworld which I tried last year. Not being able to see anything, and getting lost in an enclosed environment really strikes the fear in people, especially with actors roaming throughout! It's such a simple concept, yet very thrilling.
  17. ^Gemini Midway, not the kids area.
  18. ^^ Total Darkness is a new attraction for most, if not all the parks for fright fest this year.
  19. A christmas theme? Im not sure if SFStL could use a more odd style for a "Terror Train." At least the train is returning as a haunted attraction, instead of the blazing imbeciles show last year
  20. " Why can't I bring my 2 backpacks with me on the ride?" *On a rapids ride*-"Will I get wet?" "Why doesn't the chain clank? It must be broken."
  21. Was at the park last night and was really shocked to see all the Fright Fest work beginning already! Blind Fury is already going up in the shade arbors, and there are lots of signs promoting the mazes and attractions (Blind Fury, Total Darkness, Insanity Alley, Slaughter House, Terror Train). This seems like it will be focused on the scaring, rather than family time! What I didn't see though was any posters for the rumored paintball hayride? Total Darkness seems like it will be great, being in a completely dark theater. The crowds were non-existent even on Boomerang. The Boss is still my favorite ride in the dark, but Screamin' Eagle is way up there too. There also seems to be a new theme for the terror train, but the sign had really bad font (to the point where you could hardly read it at all. Many skeletons and props are hung around the rides, especially on the sign of XCalibur. There seems to be little to no work done on the Hannibarrels area at all. Fright Fest is almost here!
  22. I know that it may have been unused in the past, but for at least the last month, the left flume has been open with the right side most days for the past month. It seems like the line has also gotten much longer than it has been before, even with both sides open- 3 Days ago, I waited 20 minutes at 12:30 with both sides open.
