Carowinds Discussion Thread
cmullin replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
A LAUNCHED coaster with a 300ft. top hat with those trains built by Intamin. That's what we need at Carowinds! I'm sure that's what they're getting, too. -
^ Both Giant Dippers are not very rough at all, and definitely neither are one of the 10 coasters in the world.

Then they have to pay for shuttles running all day. -
^ Yeah, when I was there, a gust of wind or a drop of rain shut TTD down for sometimes hours, but still got a few rides in, we were lucky because it was a few very windy days while we were there.

I hope you're right, I'm expecting it to open in late June and I'm expecting Kingda Ka to be closed for the first few months of the season while they work on it. Label me a pessimist if you want but when June rolls around we'll see if the ride is open yet. I would hope it could be open by opening day or close to it.

What park should have an Intamin Mega-Lite?
cmullin replied to Montuman99's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
A mega-lite at SFDK would really round out their coaster selection. Other than them, Michigan's Adventure would also be another great park for a mega-lite, why not both? -

And even more exaggerated example is Intimidator at Carowinds. It only has a single helix between the MBCR and the final brakes. Don't forget the dip right before the helix, but i completely agree, the ride just shouldn't have a MCBR, its pointless. It's all for efficiency, they can run more trains with a MCBR, but I agree, it really takes away from the ride.

So much for Joe Flacco's franchise tag, what a move that was...

Why do kiddie coaster credits matter to you?
cmullin replied to edh's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I like getting kiddie credits, but if it's going to be a hassle I'd rather ride my favorite ride at the park again than get my kiddie credit. But if it's going to take 5 minutes or less I do it because it wouldn't really take any time away from enjoying the park. -

I'm wondering how much brain damage he's suffered from that beast. -
What park have you been to the most?
cmullin replied to Coasters 4 ever's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
CGA, been there at least 50 times. Then SFMM and Knott's. -
I watched Insidious last night with my friends, and I have to admit, it was much scarier than I thought it would be. A bit hard to follow, but it was actually a pretty good movie. I'd recommend it to someone looking for a good horror movie.

Wow that took too long to figure out.

I know there are a select few people who find the name offensive, but does changing their name from the Washington Redskins to the D.C. Redskins change the meaning of the team name? The logo is till the same, which is the picture of the Native American, so it doesn't really change anything. If you're going to change the name of your franchise, actually change it.

I am going to guess that if they are broken, SFMM probably won't waste the money in trying to repair them. I think the park said in their Q&A at WCB 2012 that they actually have someone on staff full-time who works on X2's speakers. It's just an always-losing battle, but at least there are stretches of time where the sound does work. It's better than nothing. I think it's pretty random when the sound works. I've gone for multiple days and one day the speakers work and the next they don't. It's mainly luck on whether you're going to get to ride with the audio.
