Someone asked on Liseberg's Facebook whether they would sell it or not. The answer was that they plan on selling it, but don't know to whom yet. -
Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said

^I'm not sure of the details, but my guess is that it took three hours before the entire train was evacuated. As can be seen on this picture: https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hangover#/media/File:Hangover_liseberg_goteborg_sweden_19990630.jpg there wasn't any footsteps or anything on the lifthills, and Invertigos are pretty tall (42m) -
Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said

^Reminds me of when HangOver at Liseberg (first Invertigo) got stuck on the lift hill in 1997. Fair enough, it was stuck for three hours and they had to bring the fire brigade in order to get people off. But still, almost 20 years later, people talk about that time "HangOver got stuck upside down". And while were at it, Facebook was full of people half-mad at Liseberg for getting Loke (Intamin gyro swing), since it just is an "updated Mechanica" (Zierer star shape). They don't even look remotely the same... -

I believe Liseberg said somewhere that SpinRock is headed to a park somewhere in Europe. -

I actually think that Valkyria can be a pretty decent replacement for Kanonen, which at the moment feels pretty boring when it just sits on an empty slab of concrete. Seeing as Liseberg really have stepped up their game with theming and the environment around the rides lately I'm sure the whole area will look very nice when it's all done. Hopefully they will do some sort of theming to Balder as well, the queue is pretty boring at the moment. -

Full press release: Legendary investments at Liseberg 2017–2018 During 2017 and 2018 Liseberg will invest around SEK 250 million in new attractions and concepts for the 8,000-square-metre area near Balder. The inspiration comes from Norse myths and legends, and among other things means that Balder will be joined by two new attractions: Loke and Valkyria. This is the biggest investment in developing an area of the park that Liseberg has ever made, and will be spread over two years. In 2017, Liseberg will open Europe’s tallest Gyro Swing attraction, and in 2018 Europe’s longest Dive Coaster. The site will also get new shopping, amusement and restaurant facilities. All the new additions will follow a theme inspired by Norse myths and legends. “Our history provides fantastic tales to inspire us,” says Lotta Carlsbogård, creative manager at Liseberg. “This investment will take shape over the course of two years, rather like a tale in two parts.” Loke – the battle begins In Norse mythology, Loke was the most treacherous and devious of all the giants of Asgard. He cunningly and cold-bloodedly forged plans to kill the kindest and best-loved of the gods, Balder. In April 2017 the battle between the two giants will begin. When you ride the Loke attraction you sit facing outwards with your feet dangling from a spinning gondola that also swings through an angle of up to 120 degrees. At the height of its swing the gondola rises 42 metres above the ground – twice as high as its predecessor, SpinRock – before plummeting at 100 kph towards Balder, so close that it feels as if the attractions will collide. Valkyria – the point of no return In readiness for the 2018 summer season Kanonen will be replaced by Europe’s longest Dive Coaster, a roller coaster that starts with a near vertical drop. Riders sit six abreast in trains that are three rows long, with their legs dangling free. After a 45 degree climb they find themselves at the highest point, 47 metres in the air. Just as the train is about to go over the edge the cars pause, and passengers are suspended in the air for a couple of seconds, before they plummet vertically 50 metres into an underground tunnel at 105 kph. The name of the roller coaster, Valkyria, is also taken from Norse mythology. A valkyrie was a winged creature whose task was to carry fallen warriors from Middle Earth to the afterlife. And according to Daniel Lindberg, attraction manager, the ride will live up to its name. “When you are fastened in and then drawn inescapably higher and higher it feels as if you could faint. Then as you hang, stationary, staring down 50 metres straight into the abyss, you are convinced you won’t make it. But after the ride you get a rush of adrenalin and really feel that you are alive!” A whole new area is taking shape The area will gradually take on a completely new look, with a combination of greenery and dramatic features. In addition to the new attractions, investments will also be made in amusements, shopping, restaurants and more places to sit. Because even on the battlefield of Middle Earth there will naturally be a few who would rather watch the bags than throw themselves into conflict. The thing I'm most interested in is where the heck they will place Valkyria. Will they expand out on the more recently bought property? I have a hard time seeing they will remove an existing coaster, but that is the only other option the way I see it. -

The names seem very fitting. Balder was liked by all of the other gods, except Loke. Loke got Balders blind brother, Höder, to accidentally kill Balder with a mistletoe used as an arrow. A valkyrie is a female figure who chooses who gets to live, and who will die in a battle. Hopefully Liseberg will keep up with the theming job from the last additions and this could be really really good. -

This makes a lot of sense, the area fenced off also looks pretty big. Could it actually be a Zamperla Discovery? Also, isn't Oden the father of Balder? -

I had pretty much the same experience as you, really an awesome ride! As for the operations, I was also a bit surprised that you couldn't choose where to sit yourself, especially since the platform area is large enough for it. As it is now it reminded me of how it was on Jetline at Gröna Lund years ago, before they themed the whole area and removed a switchback in the station and thus freeing up more space. But as you said this is their first big ride (well, if were not counting Safari as a ride of course) and it's just been opened. The operations will probably be more streamlined in the future. All in all I found it to be a very small issue thanks to the short lines. Think I rode it 9 times and still got to see everything else I wanted to see in the park, including the dolphin show and 2 times on Safari. As for the lack of queues, I think that the late opening of the ride as well as the fact that you pretty much need a car to get to Kolmården has meant that youths haven't discovered the ride and park as much as maybe expected, yet.. Wildfire is still a hot topic on the parks social media pages, there are some posts where people are stating that Wildfire has "destroyed" the park and that they probably won't come back. But on the other hand a similar amount of people are stating that they will/have visited the park thanks to Wildfire. The coming months will sure be interesting, especially with the upcoming court ruling. -
Furuvik Sweden trip report
alejon replied to _koppen's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thanks for the TR! Last time I was at Furuvik was in 2008 (still the only Wacky Worm I've ridden), looks like they're heading in the right direction with Parks & Resorts. It really is a quite special place with it's surroundings, old park feel and the coastal battery. Really looking forward to visit once again in the future! -
Yes, I think they did it for the last season, don't remember if they did the whole thing then or not. But it looks absolutely fantastic now, and with the newish magnetic brakes you could almost believe it's a brand new ride! I really hope they will repaint Vilda Musen soon though, it's starting to look really worn. Also, great TR! So many amazing parks I need to visit, some for the first time and some again, and again..

Europa Park Discussion Thread
alejon replied to Ultracoasters's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I agree. A theme park is a place to forget the harsh life on the outside. Liseberg introduced a beat the queue - system in 2010, but there was a backlash in the community as it seemed unfair (which is a huge thing here in Sweden). So for the 2013 season the redid the system so that you get to choose three rides to beat the queue and get one ticket for each, and that is for free when purchasing online. A system which I think is a nice middle-way for people travelling far to visit since Liseberg can get very crowded. But to return to Europa Park, yes I really think that they have this figured out. And it works really well thanks to their fantastic operations. Went there in 2014 and can't wait to return! -

Still only one-train operation, they hope to get the cylinders for the second train during this week though. According to GP on Facebook the waiting times weren't much more than 20 minuets though, so that's nice -

According to Kolmården's Facebook the new cylinders will be delivered at lunch-time today (which actually is about right now), they will start installing them this afternoon and after some testing they will open Wildfire! -
Furuvik just announced that they will build Fireball, a custom Vekoma junior boomerang for 2017, it will be the biggest single investment in the parks history at about 30 million SEK ($3.7 million). The ride will be 210 m long and 23 m tall with a top speed of 60 km/h. Capacity is rated at 750 pp/h. The theme will be a circus from around 1900. About Furuvik Furuvik is a small park situated close to the city of Gävle, around 170 km north of Stockholm. Since 2010 it has been owned by Parks & Resorts, who also owns Gröna Lund, Skara Sommarland and Kolmården. Currently the park has around 260k visitors per year, and a very short season (end of may to end of august). Notable rides in the park are Rocket, which was formerly known as Black Hole at Alton Towers, Extreme, the Mondial Top Scan from Gröna Lund which was moved here in 2013. There is also a Zamperla Disco and a Wacky Worm, among a few other rides. The park also has animals, mostly primates (monkeys) and a small water park with a splash zone and two body slides. A bit more unusual is the fact that there is a coastal defence battery from the cold war that is included in the admission as a museum., All in all I think this is a solid addition to the park and it's good to see Parks & Resorts continue to do unique investments in all their parks across the country.

The Halloween event at Liseberg will be both bigger and last longer this year! There will be a new zombie-area where Balder is. Also both Balder and Kanonen will operate this Halloween, meaning that all coasters will operate! The event will be on October 21-23 and October 28 to November 6. A list of rides open during Halloween can be found here (pdf). Totally 30 rides and 4 fright houses will be open for guests! -
because neither train has been repaired on LR or WF. I mean, obviously not? If SFDK is running one train with restraint problems and fixing the other one, then wouldn't the other parks be able to do the same? Because you don't run trains with restraint problems? Mind you, Kolmården haven't found any problems at all with their trains, but they still won't run Wildfire until they get the parts replaced. Always safety first!

The restraint cylinder in question is new for this year. Thus it should only effect coasters opened this year.
