I was finally able to watch Gravity for the first time tonight. Not only were the special effects the best I've ever seen, but it was possibly one of Bullock's best performances. I hoping it wins Best Picture on Sunday, but my favorites typically don't win....
2009- My favorite: Avatar, Winner: The Hurt Locker
2010- My favorite: The Social Network, Winner: The King's Speech
2011- My favorite: Hugo, Winner: The Artist
2012- My favorite: tie between Argo and Lincoln, Winner: Argo
I guess last year one of my favorite's won, so maybe Gravity will win after all. I watch and am interested in the Academy Awards, but the only films that ever seem to win are:
A: Somewhat based on real life events
B: Set sometime in the past
C: Not utilizing heavy special effects or CGI
D: Not box office giants/blockbusters
Gravity doesn't seem like something the voters would choose, but who knows, a lot of people seem to be pushing for it to win.
