  1. Yah these could all happen. We really have no idea what the new attraction will be until we get more details.
  2. ^ Well considering Ghost Town is literally half the park it isn't hard to start messing up the charm of it by adding another big, bright coaster to the area. (SB started it all)
  3. Sierra Sidewinder is probably what he is talking about.
  4. ^ Even something moderately thrilling like a water coaster (like Divertical) would work to satisfy families as well as thrill seekers who want to get wet.
  5. See the cool thing is all these ideas could work. I'll be interested to see what ends up happening and it looks like we won't have to wait much longer. That out and back layout you designed would easily be over a mile in length which would add a really long ride which is something Knott's could use more of.
  6. ^ You have a point which is why I will be so excited to see what the actual plan is for whatever ride there planning on putting in. I don't think its more than one cause in their announcement they said ride which is singular. I would love a B&M hyper that I can actually get too.
  7. ^ Yah but if a giga was put in it would probably use KOD's area for station and breaks. Then PP for half the layout including first drop. Then go over to boomerangs area where it would cross over to PP at some point and then hit the brakes and return to the station. It would get rid of a lot for one ride but if they wanted it to stick to the boardwalk it could happen. That way at least what happened with SB can be minimized to an area without much charm or theming anyways. And if Intamin was chosen it would be even less of an issue because they use less supports than B&M.
  8. ^ Ok I know it dosen't fit exactly but it wouldn't be the exact same ride anyways. What I'm trying to say is that a giga layout that is pretty long CAN be fit in the boardwalk area at knott's.
  9. ^^ But you see how you fit it in there? I could totally see Knott's building something like that after what they did with SB. And since it isn't destroying any charm I really can't say I have a problem with it this time. But your right if it was a giga it would sure make the boardwalk look more like the steelwalk considering how many footers would be crossing the midway with coaster train and screaming riders going past you every 5 seconds.
  10. What interests me is how you fit it in without using the KOD building. I bet you could easily fit a giga if you took out boomerang and KOD.
  11. Yah they really could only fit a hyper in that area, and it would be pretty compact (Although coasters like Skyrush have shown me that compact layouts are really not a bad thing anymore) but they could do it if they got rid of the KOD building. A giga would be harder although if you can build a 150 foot inverted coaster over half the park im sure you could do the same with an even taller coaster. ^ Thank you for doing the comparison pics and drawings.
  12. Well I have carefully been looking at satellite views of both skyrush and the PP and KOD area and it sure looks like it would be possible to fit a coaster of similar length and height in those two areas. I really am actually hoping now that the coaster is an Intamin and of a Skyrush like design for a few reasons: A: the coaster could be confined to the boardwalk, and the boardwalk area only. B: Only one major attraction as well as a building used for haunt and lazer tag would have to be demolished for a ride that could literally change how people think about Knott's. C: Intamin could easily make a longer version of Skyrush in this area and possibly a huge coaster if Boomerang was given the axe as well. Just a few of my crazy and probably totally wrong thoughts.
  13. Intamin also sounds good because of lack of supports on their lift hills and just general layout. I wonder if you took out the KOD building and put the HVAC for Johnnys somewhere else if you could fit a coaster like skyrush inside the KOD building area as well as PP. Maybe you could have the station in KOD's area as well as the lift and then have most of the layout in PP and then have the final moments and brake run back in KOD's area. Im still new to this site but would love if someone could post a birds eye view of PP and KOD so we could try and see if it would be possible to fit a skyrush like coaster in that area.
  14. Erm...has the park's attendance really dropped? I was under the impression that they were still doing relatively good business. Totally agree I thought they were doing pretty well still which may be why nothing has been added for such a long time.
  15. ^^ I really get what your saying and I totally have no idea (nor does anyone else) if a major thrill ride will be put in PP's spot. I just don't think another family coaster will help the park as much as another major or medium thrill ride considering there has been a 8 year drought of a new thrill ride. Now that I think about it I think I would be just as happy to get something along the lines of Divertical. That is something that I believe slightly older families can enjoy with children who maybe aren't all teens yet but still love riding coasters and water rides. ^ Thanks for clearing that up.
  16. Of all the parks that deserve coasters I think that this park takes the cake for #1. So happy there finally getting something to be proud of.
  17. ^ All of what your saying is true. All we can do at this point is speculate. The only reasons we may have why Knott's would get a coaster from B&M is that: A: such a contract about purchasing 3 rides does exist after all. B: Screamscape seems to believe that B&M will build Knott's next coaster. C: Knott's is going to remove a ride built by Intamin that we can all agree was a bit of a dud and therefore Knott's does not want another project, especially a big coaster, from Intamin and so will use the people who built Silver Bullet instead. These are the possible reasons I came up with.
  18. ^ Maybe the deal was something along the lines of: Your chains next three coasters must all be B&M's and they must be purchased within 2 years. In return you will get a 10% discount on the cost of our products for these three coasters only. This is just hypothetical on what the deal could be like if there is one.
  19. Yah Intamin seems like the better choice for this one. But if CF purchased a 3 coaster deal with B&M Knott's may not actually have a choice. I am worried though that if B&M gets the job the entire back of the park will look taken over just like what silver bullet did for the edges of ghost town as well as the other areas of the park near silver bullet. I wonder if CF is just tired of working with Intamin and is just going to play it safe with B&M who almost always create a great ride.
  20. And a giga coaster 3 great things put into one bad attractions spot, come on knott's make it happen.
  21. ^ And generally when major thrill rides are removed they are replaced with another thrill ride. Id say with PP gone that's enough room to get the station, transfer track, maintenance shed, most of the lift hill, brake run and possible splash down of a giga/hyper in as well as maybe parts of the layout going over the area where PP once stood. Then its just a matter of building a fun layout that works for the neighbors and all the loving fans like us.
  22. ^Which is why I think it has to happen at some point. I was just wondering if it would even be possible but as others have said im sure knott's has it figured out by now what they can and cannot do.
  23. Yah I totally forgot to factor in that Knott's is a year-round park. Also do you think a giga/hyper would get approved for knott's? Something tells me a giant 300+ or 200+ (if its hyper) coaster that sticks out of the skyline multiple times with blaring colors isn't going to be such a hit with the neighbors, especially since the coaster would most likely be constructed on the edges of the park. Even Xcelerator at 205 feet is not as bad as a hyper because it has only one point at which it is very high which would be that awesome airtime filled tophat unlike a hyper which typically has plenty of big airtime hills which are all pretty visible. The problem only would get worse if the coaster turns out to be a giga.
  24. I really hope that the ride is an Aquatrax or a giga/hyper. As long as the coaster is not red or yellow and dosen't travel over the historic parts of ghost town I really don't mind this ride traveling all over the park. Also if the ride does turn out to be a hyper/giga how long does construction usually take on these monsters?
