^ Not to get DarienLakers hopes up, but I've been thinking about the future of the water park as well. They have added two different water attractions back to back, a third one wouldn't surprise me. What I would wonder, however is where they would put it. My mind immediately heads over to the big plot of land in the front of the park. It was once home to two water attractions, what are the chances that they'd put something water themed there again? I mean, they left the bridge there! Yes, it was probably for aesthetic instead of function, but still, the ambiguity of the future of that piece of land is very intriguing! Also, I'm pretty excited for the new additions that we *do* know of this year. Namely, the new RoS train and the new and improved laser show! I'm most likely going to be purchasing season passes for the first time this year because I do finally think that it will be worth it! Here's to a great 2016 season!

All I can think of is that this would totally defeat the purpose of Gakekeeper. The thing is only 3 years old for gods sake! I feel like if creating more parking off the peninsula was an idea that they wanted to move ahead with (with the intention of creating more space for rides) then I feel that they wouldn't have built gatekeeper when they did. Because if suddenly parking is moved on the mainland, Gatekeeper is pretty close to the middle of the peninsula, therefore it's redundant to have the entrance that far back - or at least that's how I see it -

Cedar Point to add a sports complex near the park in 2017! http://www.freep.com/story/travel/2016/04/05/cedar-point-sports-park-complex/82646518/ Cedar Point adding sports park complex Anne Erickson, Lansing State Journal 9:16 a.m. EDT April 5, 2016 Cedar Point is about to get sporty. The Sandusky, Ohio-based amusement park will begin construction on its new Cedar Point Sports Center this Friday. Phase one of the development project, located on outside the park on Cleveland Road in Sandusky, will include an outdoor sporting facility called Sports Force Parks bringing together nine multi-purpose, synthetic turf fields, four NCAA regulation baseball fields, a championship baseball and softball stadium, eight NCAA regulation soccer and lacrosse fields, sport-specific training areas and an ADA-accessible community-use field. The Cedar Point Sports Center, managed by Sports Force Parks, will also offer a “great lawn” and promenade with miniature golf, a ropes adventure course, a bungee trampoline challenge, a playground and food and beverages. “Sports Force Parks at Cedar Point Sports Center will be a world-class destination for sports-focused families," said Jim Arnold, director of Business Development for The Sports Force & Fields, Inc., in a news release. "Our mission to combine sports, family and fun will bring young athletes and their families from across the country and provide them with the opportunity to combine a sports tournament with a family vacation.” Phase two of the project’s development will include adding bike trails along the waterfront along with spots to take in the views of Lake Erie and Cedar Point. Construction on Sports Force Parks at Cedar Point Sports Center will begin at a groundbreaking ceremony at 2 p.m. Friday. The park expects construction to be complete in the fall of 2016 with the Sports Center opening in the spring of 2017. -
We traded in our old '99 for a newer '16 model. It's the same make, and similar design, but in all reality, it's whats on the inside that counts. Hell, if this one works out, we may invest in a '17 after the season's over! We just want to give our new vehicle some time to break in before we decide for sure.

^ I'm a little skeptical about that being a reason... Only because as we saw a page or two back on this thread, there is a Calypso attraction at Cedar Point, and aren't they quick to remove rides that have bad histories like that? If I remember correctly they removed their Chaos ride because of the history of other models having issues. ANd even recently, they shut down ALL their windseeker models due to one of them having an issue, one of which was then dismantled and moved to a new location because the state didnt want a ride such as that to operate there. I feel like if Darien's ride closed because of an accident on the same type of ride somewhere else, we wouldve seen the same thing happen to the one at Cedar Point as well. Thats just my opinion though

Is that a picture from recently? Is that the very image that this person who heard it from a person who may have known a guy sent? Because then I agree with the post above about the CP model. I've seen it before all winterized and though it's crazy different from when its operational, I'm aware of that change. That doesn't mean your ordinary Joe Citizen will recognize that same thing. If that makes sense EDIT: I also took a picture of the Wave Swinger upon my visit to CP, why not share it?

For people at the winter chill out, they saw the beginnings of the final product at the management presentation. The entrances of the plazas had a cool angular shape to them similar to the crown on the birds head, and they have a couple areas on the outside of the ride that will be themed to Valravn. They mentioned the rides ID sign is the throne that we all had the chance to see during Halloweekends, and they said they got such positive reviews from the legacy of roller coasters board that they are going to have something similar near the Immelmann. They were just initial concept sketches but to me they looks fantastic right from first glance. They aren't going to leave it as some generic bland area. And they said it will have similar lighting to Banshee as per some sort of lighting agreement/contract (Adam had made a mention to that infront of the station/lift area) with "more surprises to come" as per usual. And I really am thinking that the silver strip is going to have a nice effect with multicolored LEDs shining up on it, it should really be an amazing sight to see. This coaster is going to be amazing, it's not gonna be like gatekeeper (even though personally I am a pretty big fan of That ride), it's massive, its one of only 3 in the country, it's the tallest and fastest of its kind, and I'm sure most everyone who rides it is going to love it. We now return to you're regularly shceduled enthusiast complaining/arguing/opining -

Honestly I loved all the jokes and teases at the Winter Chill Out today! It was a really good time! I'm also glad they were selling those nano coasters! I picked up Valravn, Millennium, Gatekeeper and Dragster! -

I'm assuming the color scheme will resemble that of the one within the rides logo itself. Looking at that though, the logo only shows 4 lanes. But I'm assuming the one at Darien is going to be the 6 lane model so I'm not that sure how accurate the logo actually is... Also, I can see where the name of this ride would make sense according to a quick Google search

While we wait for anything new from Darien lake, I figured a little MFI news would be nice to see. It appears as if they have repainted the Silver Comet trains to a very fancy shmancy attractive Blue color! Also, I know they had the Ferris wheel up for sale but when i drove past it about a week or so ago, it was still standing in its usual home.

From the looks of it we don't know the color of the train yet do we? I'm wondering if they're gonna keep that red/blue theme or if they're gonna go a different direction - that could show whether or not they intend to paint the ride a different color in the long run if you really think about it. I personally think a silver color would be cool, since that is the color of steel, and for the time being the ride is still referred to as "Ride of Steel" and silver would match a LOT of different color combinations for the track and the supports!

The new train and the new slides are pretty decent investments for Darien Lake! Investing in the biggest ride at the park and fixing some of the "pinch points" in the waterpark seems like a great step forward for 2016! It should also be interesting to see which coasters will get back to the 2 train operations as aforementioned on this thread. Regardless,I am personally pretty excited for this season!
