Darien Lake to take special precautions due to Water Boiling Advisory (source: Channel 4) http://ow.ly/tN8V302wbED Darien Lake says the park is well-prepared to handle the water alert across parts of western New York. To manage the situation, the theme park has listed a series of measures they are taking to ensure the safety of park visitors. -All park and hotel soda fountains, ice machines, and water fountains have been shut off and are not in use; -Bottled beverages are available at all food service and retail locations; -All water required for food preparation is being boiled before use; -The park has shipped in ice from outside the area for use throughout the weekend; -A “hydration station” has been created in the amusement park, offering two water fountains and a filling station with water provided from well service that has not been affected; -Darien Lake’s campgrounds are not impacted, as this area of the Resort is served by well water that remains unaffected by the Water Authority’s advisory; -The water in Darien Lake’s Theme Park water rides is treated with chlorine and is tested regularly as a matter of course, so the water park remains open; -Signage has been posted throughout the park explaining the situation and reminding guests to only consume bottled water and other safe beverages. When the advisory ends, Darien Lake says they plan to ensure all water lines are cleared and cleaned.

Let's see if I can answer your questions to the best of my ability. I'll start with the games. I don't usually play them but I've seen a lot of smaller kids out and about in the arcades really seeming to have a blast. I haven't seen much in the name of adults over near the arcades aside from those supervising though. From what I've heard the best games to go to are Fascination (because who doesn't love fascination?) and there's a new Laser Maze near the viper entrance that I've noticed, but I've yet to try out (I'm considering taking a gander next time I visit) it looks like it's pretty interesting and I feel like it's going to be a good time, but you can never tell until you try something! Food, this is something I do enjoy at the park tremendously. My favorite place to go for food in the park is none other than the boardwalk. They have several combo burger meals that actually all do seem pretty appetizing. My favorite one so far is the Lasso burger. Which comes with thick American cheese, onion rings, and BBQ sauce. It also comes with a very generous portion of fries, and if I remember correctly, the total was only $8. Which isn't too bad considering you pay about the same for a burger at Red Robin for example. The only kicker is drinks aren't included. So I just bring my own water with me. Otherwise, they also sell pretty decent amounts of fries, also at the board walk, for $4.29 and $4.99. The regular size ($4.29) is more than enough for me, and I'm a pretty large guy! Also on tap at the park is an overpriced subway, an Anchor Bar (if you're into eating wings and being at a pretty nicely decorated building in the park, and pizza stalls throughout the place. I remember years ago I went to the Beaver Brothers Cafe and loved it but I've been on the fly this year and haven't had time for a sit down meal just yet! The shows, I may be a little bias, since Darien's nighttime show is my all time favorite (yes, to me it's better than Fantasmic. Sorry Disney fans...) so I'm not sure everyone will agree with me on what I have to say, but I'll say it anyways. The updates they've added to Ignite the Night amaze me. I love the brand new full spectrum laser and for anyone who hasn't seen the show since 2012, you're in for a HUGE surprise! They've added SO many effects that they just didn't have before and they really solidified that show in my opinion, making it one of the best I've ever seen! This year alone though, they have a pretty awesome song choice. The show only really slows down once for "A Wonderful World" but that segment is done so beautifully that it doesn't really matter! I'll also mention that during my last visit they added some more lighting effects to the show. They used to always have those spotlights shining on the audience before but they seemed to cut them out when they revamped the show in 2013. But now they're back and really do add to the overall experience of not only the show itself, but the preshow as well! I highly reccomend the show to anyone visiting the park! (Even while I'm there, guests hear me talking the show up to friends or family that I'm with and they all ask me where the show is and "how much it costs". If the park advertised the show a little bit more, they'd probably draw much larger crowds! People really seem to enjoy it!). As for their day time entertainment, I can't speak for the kids show in Beaver Brothers Bay but the American Rock show is actually pretty solid. It makes me think of a slightly toned down Luminosity with slightly better singers, and less fireworks and fire (spoiler alert, there are no pyrotechnics in the show ) I've already seen it twice and I've really enjoyed it both times. It's a great way to relax for a little while while spending the day! The bathrooms and changing areas I've been in are not the best, but they certainly aren't the worst either. If you go to splashtown, I do not reccomend using the pirate themed bathhouse to change, use the one closer to the wave pool. There's much more space and it's actually a lot cleaner IMO. As for inside the park, the restrooms by the Motocoaster are the newest, and usually not as busy as the other ones. But in a pinch, the restrooms by the main entrance and the viper respectively are both just fine. The ones I would NOT reccomend are the ones by the practically vacant lockers where the slide that shall not be named used to be. Avoid those ones at all costs! The one train issue I think is only a real "issue" on the Ride of Steel. Even then, I haven't waited longer than 20 minutes to ride it, and each time I've rode it has either been very front or very back row. If you aren't picky, you could easily get on within a one or two train wait! Of course I'm sure on busier weekends in the summer the line could be longer but for the most part it's manageable! The viper crew is always hauling, even though they have yet to have more than a 5 train wait when I've been there (probably because of how crazy fast they are), mind eraser is always a walk on, predator, is slow but again, same with RoS, if you aren't picky you could be in realitvely fast. Boomerang is boomerang, and Motocoasters line though it usually looks long is usually relatively short. It only looks the way it does because they don't allow queuing in the station house. The line ends on the ramp. Other rides in the park such as grizzly bear run and thunder Rapids can have some lengthy lines during those warm days, even though they both run several boats and are constantly moving, the longest line I've waited in so far this year was 40 minutes for grizzly this past Tuesday. But, it was hot and humid without a cloud in sight. Everyone in the park wanted to cool off! The smaller flats like Haymaker, silver bullet, corn popper, scrambler and hornets nest are all usually walk on or 5-10 minute wait. Not bad at all, and most of them are pretty fun! The Giant Wheel based on the time of day can have zero wait, or it could have a 25 minute wait. It all depends! Blast off is an exception. Up until about 7pm, that thing always has some sort of a Line. And since it can only take 12 people per cycle, the line doesn't typically move very fast. But it's a fun little tower and I do prefer it over CPs Power Tower. However, I prefer Tower of Terror over both of those attractions. Not even a competition. I'm pretty sure that hits everything you were looking for me to answer. The only other thing I've got is when you're there, it's always fun to look and see what's happening at the SBNO attractions and the maintenance bays. You never know when you're gonna find something exciting! Have fun on your ventures to my home park next month pattycakes! After my CP trip this upcoming Sunday-Tuesday I'll begin collecting information on CW, so I hope I can get some advice from you on their discussion thread when the time comes! If you have any more questions just let me know!

^ Believe it or not, I was actually asking about splashtown, but that is good to know for my Wonderland trip in August. Speaking of which, Coasterkid124 has an awesome TR from his ventures to Darien Lake (link: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=72148 ) that I definitely enjoyed. If you went on the 12th, I was there the same day and you were totally right, it was HOT! We spent a good portion of the day in the water park but it wasn't too refreshing because of how crowded it was! You were waiting in line for so long that you'd be bone dry before even getting to the next slide! Not my idea of Waterpark fun, but regardless, I did like the slides and what not, considering I've never been in their water park, I was very impressed, and I'll definitely consider going back to it! One last thing while I'm thinking about it, Coasterkid mentions that our boomerang is pretty smooth compared to other ones, so it made me think, has anyone been on any other boomerangs lately that are having any trouble getting up the reverse lift? I know ours is having some sort of hydraulic issue, but I have no idea if that's common or if it's just us. Every time I've gone this season the hydraulic room has had the doors both wide open with a couple fans in it, I'm wondering if they're going to fix the issue anytime soon before it becomes a larger problem...

^ Did they not just add Leviathan in 2012? And if you consider it, WMG was just added two years ago! Darien Lake's last coaster was the OCC Motocoaster in 2008! but if you don't count that (Which i cant believe why someone wouldn't...) Ride of Steel was the last MAJOR coaster addition back in 1999! Canada's Wonderland in my opinion has got more game than Darien Lake by a long shot! (Happy 1 year on TPR by the way, PATTYCAKES!) Also, really stupid question, since I'm always at the THEME park, and I don't think I've ever actually been in the WATER park. Is it free to get into the water park if you have admission into the theme park? I cant find anywhere that says its free, but I also cant find anywhere that says its a separate price... Thanks Y'all!

I saw this on Twitter, and I'm wondering if anyone sees this as a clue? The poster said something along the lines of "Maybr it's just the train, or maybe it's a clue" I look at this, and I see the Dive Coaster on that one T-Shirt from last year. Something subtle but blatantly obvious to the enthusiasts. -
I went to the park again today, and I can confirm that Grizzly Run and RoS were both down for a decent chunk of time today. I was at the park from about 4pm-Close and as soon as I got to RoS, at about 4:15, it was down for maintenance. It looked like they were having trouble with the restraints on the first car. I believe they were focusing on the front right T-bar, but I could be wrong, since I was in the very back of the station. They asked us all to file out of the station house after about 20 minutes, and the ride was back up by 6:00, when I came back, we rode it twice and though there is a bit of a rumble in the back of the train, it still gives one heck of a ride with the MAJOR improvement of that new Intamin awesomeness we were blessed with this year! As for Grizzly run, apparently the water elements on it stopped working, as we were waiting in line, I saw people get off and when I asked if they had rode, they told me they did, but they got off bone dry, which apparently isn't common for that ride! Who would've thought? Other things I noticed this time around, the RoS crew was hauling to the best of their abilities with the one train operations, especially compared to last week! Boomerang is really having a hard time getting up that reverse cable lift hill, I can't believe they haven't fixed that yet. The hydraulic room has both doors open at all times (which I noticed last year too). I wouldn't be surprised if it runs into some more serious issues by the end of this season with the way it's acting. The Mind Eraser's second train is still on pallets by the cherry picker. Nothing new there, yet I wonder where the actual seats are. It looks like all they have on sight is the chassis and wheels. I thought it was possible that they have the rest of the train stored in that big garage type thing in the exit, but it's anyone's guess at this point! Vipers second train is nowhere to be seen, still. And I know it's a very minuscule detail but I find it weird that even though they pretty much salvaged the yellow train for parts, they still have the blue train labeled as train number 3. There's only one other functional train that we know of, which makes me wonder why they didn't just call it train number 1 or 2. Towards the end of the night, right before the laser show started, they made a very unorthodox announcement saying "if there's an emergency, the lights will return to normal, please listen to announcements for instructions" which in my 8 or so years of viewing this show, I've never heard them make an announcement like that. I tried to look to see if something was wrong but I couldn't see anything out of the ordinary. I'll be at the park tomorrow too though so I'm gonna see if they do it again before the show tomorrow night. If they do, I won't be as worried as to why they said it tonight. Lastly, twister seemed to be missing more of its over the shoulder restraints, upon quick glance it looked like it only had about 8 of them left. Too bad they didn't announce any sort of removal yet. They could probably generate a lot of publicity by announcing things like that. Create some sort of buzz CP style! A man can dream right? One more thing actually, I really have enjoyed the experience that the Ride Ops this year have been creating. In past visits to the park, I've always thought the ride ops were very sub par and all acted like they hated being where they were. But this year, they all seem to be having a TON of fun doing their jobs! Specifically, at Blast Off, a guy named DJ was making silly comments to riders from the start of the ride to the end of it, everyone always laughing and leaving with smiles on their faces, on predator, there was another Guy who kept making all the announcements in a high pitched voice, the other ride ops would laugh at him, as would the riders. And there's another op at Viper with purple hair whom I've seen the past 3 times I've gone there that's always smiling and really booking it to get that train out of the station ASAP, and she always does it with a smile on her face! Of course, though I only mentioned 3, there were many more that really did help make my visits more memorable and fun! As I said in reference to DJ towards my buddies that I went with, nothing makes a ride better like an enthusiastic and fun ride op! Anyways, here's a few pictures from today's visit! Gotta love that clean look of the park entrance! How nice of them to keep welcoming me back! They have these new "combo meals" at the park now. I'm not actually sure if they're new, it's the first time I've seen them at least. This is the Lasso burger. Angus beef, American cheese, onion rings and BBQ sauce! Good stuff! And for a price of only $8.99! I can't believe the Predator was once voted 9th best wooden coaster! Times must have changed! I know, it's 8 years old, and people want a "real" coaster addition in the park, but I personally really enjoy Motocoaster! I can't believe it's almost 10 years old! Nothing beats a sunset! Same with RoS... I'd love some new paint on that thing. Boomerang looks pretty awesome. I know it's a cookie cutter model but I do enjoy how it looks! Especially from the giant wheel! RedHawk also does look pretty nice from up in the sky Viper also looks great from up high Mind eraser looks nice from a distance. When you get closer and you see the Nasty unfinished paint job, it isn't as nice...

Why would you do that to yourself?! FP will make your life so much better. If you can budget for it, you really should do it!! Exactly, I don't have the money to put towards FP this time around. But just last year I was able to hit 15 of their 16 coasters and Pipe Scream, as well as several runs on both Maxair and Skyhawk without the need for a fast lane, in the middle of July. With re rides on TTD, Millennium, and Maverick! But it was a Tuesday, so I figured it wouldn't be *as* busy. I'm sure FP is awesome to have, but I know I'll probably still have an awesome time without it. Maybe next year I'll put some money aside for it though -

^ on that note, how are Sunday crowds? It wasn't my idea but we are going the 17th and 18th to CP (with the Sunrise Thrills tour on Monday!! ) and I'm worried about going on a weekend, in July... No FP either -
Looks like the BS calling was very appropriate. I knew without pictures it was something that would've been really hard to believe, and by the looks of it, there was no sign of any construction near the mind eraser (besides the wheel chassis for the second train being on site) and nothing on the long pathway either. No spray paint, no holes dug, no nothing. Also. The RoS "second train" is non existent. As I'm sure most everyone here figured, there is no second train, new or old, on site for the RoS. Yet, randomly, they had attempted to transfer the train off of the track and it appeared that it had gotten stuck. It was down for close to 2.5 hours, with it reopening a little over a half hour after left in the day. Other things I noticed: -Blast Off shut down at least 3 times during the visit which was only 5 hours. -Mind Eraser went down twice -RoS as I mentioned went down and stayed down for a couple hours -Predator does seem to have only one train functioning, and it does look like they have gutted the first one (pictures to explain what I mean by that) -There were no sightings of the blue/green track that was mentioned here a few pages back, probably not a shocker. -Twister had at least 2/3 of the shoulder restraints removed. The waterfall was off, which stinks, but there was no sign of any work being done to it. On to the pictures! Not many, since I was only doing this to answer some specific questions, so here we go: No second train in sight... Not even signs of it. Which isn't a shock, since they're supposed to be purchasing the second one during the next off season. Myth busted! The path is open! And no sign of construction in sight! Poor twister... Looks like it's gonna be a loooooong season for this SBNO attraction. Although, they did add a nice little sticker to the ride. In case your erased mind forgot what coaster you were on I'm pretty sure I saw these same pallets at the mind eraser last year. Even though they are here, I don't think it means the second trains are close to being reinstalled here First and foremost, I noticed that the third car of this train was labeled A2. Which tells me that the first train isn't operable anymore... The train sat like this for upwards of two hours.
-
Since this seems to be quite interesting to hear, I'll share the story now! According to screamscape, RoS is apparently running two trains again. Pretty shocking, and almost too good to be true! I'll be in the park tomorrow evening, and I'll definitely be sure to see if this is true or not! Also, they said that the pathway to Mind Eraser is closed due to some sort of in park construction. I'll also be getting a look at that and posting whatever I can see on here tomorrow! Here's the direct post I am referring to:

Does anybody know the specifics of the Slingshot deal with the season pass? I think they refer to a "double shot" but I have no idea what that means! I haven't ridden DLs slingshot, really haven't ever walked by it either, with it being tucked back to the right of the park entrance. I'm trying to see if it's actually a "good" deal without having to contact the park itself! Thanks!

[youtu_be] [/youtu_be] Here's my recording of the brand new Laser Show! I sat in the far back of the lawn to try and get the most into the recording while it was stationary on a tripod! I hope you guys enjoy! I would definitely recommend going to the park to see it first hand though, its always better in person!

Visited the park for a few hours today, it was only a couple hours so I didn't take many pictures. Here's the few little things I noticed: Ride of Steel: I rode it on the last day of the season last year and I distinctly remember it having a pretty nasty rattle towards the first banked turn past the first drop and on the second half of the first helix, this year, with the new trains it felt so much smoother! It wasn't perfect but it was much more comfortable! Also, the new restraints were shin saviors! I really appreciated the new leg room! I can't wait for them to get that second train next year! Predator: I haven't rode this coaster in about 3 years because I had given up hope on it, but I decided why not today and was pleasantly surprised. It was still pretty rough, don't get me wrong, but that coaster packs one helluava punch! I was flying out of my seat the entire time thoroughly enjoying myself! I will absolutely be riding this one more frequently as the season progresses! (Though GCI or RMC would still be REALLY nice!!!) Viper: I don't care what anyone says, this coaster is one of the smoothest Arrow Loopers out there! Of course I did ride it a little defensively, but that just added to the fun of the ride! I've always had a certain appreciation for the Viper so I can't really say much bad about it, EXCEPT how horribly unorganized the queue was in the station, where you honestly could not tell where the lines shifted to certain rows on the train! Ignite the Night- Colorblast: I have always been a huge fan of the Darien Lake laser show, since it was Laserblast actually, and this new show was one of my favorite ones I've seen! My favorite production was 2008, but this one is a close, CLOSE second! I'll have a full video of the show up some time next week and I'll definitely be sharing it on here! Since I only rode the 3 coasters and saw the show, that's all I have for now, I'll be going in depth in about 2 weeks, I'll follow up with an in depth (and picture filled) TR then! For now, I have a couple pictures I'll share now!

I'd also like to know the answer for this question... I searched the entire app this morning and really couldn't find anything on it relating to or even pointing in the direction of those little ride animation things -
Pictures would have been wonderful. But regardless of that, isn't it a little early to be seeing Roller Coaster track? Cedar Point didn't receive the first pieces of Valravn until mid August! It's late May! You said the track was in a warehouse though, are you referring to the buildings behind the fence by Viper or some other location? And how could you see definitively into the SBNO Galaxy/Batman/Nik Wallenda theatre? And clearly see trains for two seperate rides?
