What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?
Brassinthegrass replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thunderbolt at Comey Island. Those air time hills are just as good as they look! -
I'm sure it will be like that originally. I want to predict that it could be something like every third train drops with the three gondolas... My thoughts are that it would take a train to load the gondolas, a train to lift them, and then it could drop the go dalaa with the third. Since both ride programs are rather new, I'm sure they can link then together on a common server to make them sunk when it makes sence to do so... Does anyone have some more info on how it's done at SFMM?

They have had them in the past... The park is quite landlocked, so expansion is basically never going to happen, but taking something out and replacing it with something in the more thrilling category would definitely the mid to late teens that drag their feet around the park due to the massive amounts of kiddie rides they do have...

I agree, but there is not a single ride in that park right now that goes upside down... The frisbee is the most intense flat ride, and that they don't even run a very good program on. The park is definitely a family style par, and we are lucky to have had the hurricane for as long as we have, I just hope the next step for this park is something that turns you upside down in some way.

I just got back from an afternoon at Coney Island. Showed up around 1pm, and headed straight to Nathan's for Hot Dogs and French Fries. The Cyclone is really running great this summer. I look forward to them finishing the retracking of the ride. I know many people feel that retracking this icon is sacrilegious, but I disagree. I feel like it is making the Cyclone another great reride at Coney Island. Now, onto Thunderbolt. Man is it a great ride. It is not going to reinvent roller coasters, but it is a great ride. The restraints are very comfortable, and I can tell that the straps might be able to ratchet closed in the future, but for now they just seem to be flying all over the place. The lap bar swivels very nicely, and you feel very safe in the seat. It is not nearly as wide open feeling as I would have liked, but It does look and feel good. The ride from the center seat is MUCH better than the side seats. Enough for me to notice a difference between two rides back to back. As you crest the lift, you have an AMAZING view of Manhattan, straight ahead is the World Trade Center, and the rest of the skyline goes back diagonally to your right. Before you know it your heading straight down and there is a bit of a jerk right before the loop. The first half of the ride feels huge, flying high in the sky, twisting and turning in ever direction. The turn-around pulls some nice G's as it pulls out and the bunny hops are INSANE! They truly pull stronger negative G's than Sky Rush (which I was on only a week ago). Hopefully I will be getting back in a few weeks for some night rides, which I have not done on either ride!

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

Has any park ever relocated a major wooden coaster from one side of the park to the other? Like, ever in the history of amusement parks? I can't think of one that moved from one side of the part to another, but there have been plenty that moved to different parks. If it's a major expansion, it might happen. But I think they would do without the move as it is a bit of an unnecessary cost. I could see them removing wildcat for future expansion of the Boardwalk, and building a high speed transportation type ride (possibly a LIM system of some sort) and building out into the new land. That, or we could see them move the boardwalk area (which would make more sense) into the new land area and use that space for future park expansion, but that just causes us to be stuck in the corner of the property again.... -
I think the main problem is that a lot of people score roller coasters that are more intense and a longer ride as better. I find a ride that is just a good fun ride can be just as good! After getting home from a today, 20 roller coaster trip through Pennsylvania (Knoebles, Hershey, Dorney, Coney Island) my cousin and I realized just how in tents Six Flags great adventure is. After riding roller coasters for two days that were all more on the "fun "list rather than the "crazy intense" list, we found that our experience throughout the weekend was probably more enjoyable than going to great adventure for one day. Before everyone murders me for that comment, I do still score more intense roller coasters higher on my top 10, but I find a weekend full of enjoyable rides just as entertaining. In regards to the thunderbolt, I agree, it is a fun enjoyable ride. We don't need to reinvent the wheel to enjoy a phenomenal ride!

I just came back myself from a today Pennsylvania trip including Knoebles, Hershey and Dorney! I must say the app for Hersheypark is phenomenal! Not only did he give you true wait times, it also gave you distance to the location of the ride while in the park. Also, I highly suggest Hershey place for lunch. It is right outside the main gates and was very good! -
Just rode the Cyclone after watching Thunderbolt and eating Nathan's. They're planning on opening on Friday. I did try to see if they would let us sneak on (Hey, don't lie you know you would too) and had quite a fun Tweeting convo with @lunaparkNYC if you want to go check it out! My handle is @DanKruga

I agree... New trains over trims any day! I do wonder what RMC would be able to do with a train that they know will not navigate such intense movements... When you see what they are building, their trains fit the strange motions the track takes... If there building for what is more of a traditional style track, I wonder if they would go with a more open, less restrictive train... -
