  1. Eh for real, to each their own I've gotten flak for loving MForce, as well as Wicked Twister (someone was once making fun of me...weird bc they kept tagging along w/o asking and I was like Im already being nice by not telling you to leave, now you keep mocking what I wanna do? bruh lol) so yeah I dont judge, just not something I have any interest in. Oh hope no one thinks the comfortably was a pun. It wasn't, I promise I'm not that clever. Covid + New England winter did me bad. Prob worst shape I've been in and it shows. Been losing the flab and good thing, I almost didn't fit in Intimidator and had to do some flab suck in. First time that's happened. Though it may have been that ride, I wasn't even close to having an issue in any of the other rides in 3 parks I did. Still, CP had some tight fits I recall. Deff gunna shed my travel bloat and crash diet for the next week and a half to be safe!
  2. More rides for you and others! I will comfortably pass
  3. Reminds me of 2005 when the head broke off a dummy on Kingda Ka and school was absolutely ballistic over it. It continued until it opened, seriously I loved when people were telling me it was dangerous and I'd respond "Well I just rode it" and their expression was priceless XD That said those were teenage "GP" I'd hope for some better from enthusiasts and cmon to make that comparison is a joke. One was a water slide who’s engineering strategy was “**** it let’s see how it goes” and ignored what a professional firm said and warned against... This is not remotely the same please
  4. Not the day I went Everyone here said it would happen and I'm sure generally it does! But least that day....nope right till park closing fast lane for SV was still like 45 mins. Guess it was bad luck but with night ERT wasn't really a big deal. Thank goodness for that! Eh nah, to each their own and I've spun the broken record enough I wont repeat but its not my cup o tea, and yeah...for that line I'll just go do skyhawk personally. But yeah I'm excited now that the schedule is out, it feels "real" and I'm stoked. I feel bad for the public that park is closing at 8 but I'm pretty glad, I always needed a break and felt like hell the next day when it would run till like 1:30 AM. I'm really glad it'll be done by 11.
  5. Hoping for ya! I'm just stopping on my way to CP, goal was to knock out Steel Curtain, Exterminator and Skyrocket as I missed those/werent open, few rides on Phantom's and jet out of there.
  6. Oof sorry to hear. Can only vouch for the two times I went but deff wasn't the case. Night ERT was great esp for SV, was deff shorter than the line for the day even with FL (which was consistently like 40ish mins and while people reassured me it will die down near park close, it did not lol). Yeah I recall last time lots of people did line up to wait for Maverick to open but ya know, once the line was flowing it wasnt bad. If such a thing happens then yeah I'd duck away to something else and come back once its moving. Wilderness Run is indeed on ERT as well. Epic for people that will be there with their kids though I will continue to not have that credit and do Gemini, Magnum and esp Skyhawk instead. I love that ride too much
  7. Well mask I can live with, I did it last year w Hershey and LC and sucks but I could deal. If we get word that limited capacity is dropped for Sat.....I will strongly consider it then. THAT is a much bigger deal for me.
  8. Yeah that's brutal. Seeing what some crowds have been like, trying to imagine reduced capacity rides...yikes. Well as mentioned I'll be going this Friday, hope a weekday can spare me. In fact I am moving back to NJ on Sat so I have no choice but to go on Friday lol consider it my last hurrah in New England!
  9. To anyone else doing Coastermania, they have released the schedule and yall it's amazing. Morning ERT of MForce, Raptor, Gatekeeper, Valravn. That is great. 9-10 ERT has Wicked Twister (Im stoked) Blue Streak Iron Dragon. Night ERT includes Magnum, Skyhawk, Maverick, TTD, SV. That is a pretty damn brilliant event. Already planning the day. Do we know yet if SV has been/will be operating at 10 am? I only ask bc last time I went, this was 2019 ofc, it was never opening before noon. I also recall that weekdays SV isn't open for normal early access correct? Only asking bc I assume people will spend the full hour early access waiting for it to never open so I'll plan accordingly. Like try to time it right when those lines get in but before the masses hit, OR I'll just do maverick first and wait for night ERT
  10. Wow Mass really isnt fooling around. Still skipping rows? Sounds like a capacity nightmare. Seems its not open most weekdays so I'll be going this Friday, bc I have no other choice if I wanna avoid weekends lol
  11. That's for sure! Avg cost of in state tuition for public college in 1993: $3827. 2021: $25,000 ofc exact numbers will vary but the change is pretty accurate over time. As my student loans and surely others here can attest too And on top of the not good pay (though seems CP is really trying to rectify that out of necessity) people can correct me if wrong....working parks seems a brutal job tbh I know Cedar Point always relied heavily on intl workers (which ofc are not a thing right now) and besides that...I always had the feeling a good number were enthusiasts who do the job out of passion. Admirable, and honestly I admire all who work the parks for us to enjoy, esp rides and having to deal w people in general...seems like a rough job. Despite my love of parks, I have never once considered working at one. Esp in college, would never have been worth it. So yeah kudos to all who do it, and I hope by 2022 people can move freely and CP can again use intl workers, as clearly its hard to get enough people domestically, for reasons that are quite sensible. Any updates on people who got shafted w the schedule change getting refunds and etc?
  12. OK so to get it out of the way: Yes, I305 was down the whole day. An employee I was chatting with said no, cable didn't snap and kinda chuckled at that notion. Said the train kept stopping on the lift "about a quarter of the way up" had no idea what it was about, seemed to think it wasn't tooo major and hopes they can get it up in a week or so but obviously don't put much stock in that. I will say did not see a single mechanic, on the track or around the area. Was empty the whole day, not a soul. So if they know what's wrong deff didn't seem to be working on it today, or perhaps they can't who knows. Anyway, Twisted Timbers is great. The back was good but a step below what I expect, it was a lot of pulling forces, so I tried near front next. Holy hell, THAT is a beast. This ride is a tad lacking in elements, it may be the most plain RMC I've experienced but holy hell, the airtime. Nor does it lose much speed. That said I hope the ops were just early season wrinkles, because honestly they were horrid. Thankfully line was not that long, though oof it moved slow. It went down at one point, but managed to catch it at reopening, ran back on and line was not that long. From the storage units it was around 2 bends and down the straight a little bit. It was not long at all. Took at least an hour and a half. I know this, bc my storage went over the 2 hour limit and needed someone to open it, was not alone with that. Most of that line was standstill. Was brutal. What a ride though. I recall loving Grizzly in back, lots of air. Perhaps age is getting to it, was pretty slow and meh after the first drop, could use some retracking. Racer 75 ran quite well though, lots of air in back, few sluggish hills but ran quite well. Forgot how much I enjoyed backlot for what it is, though dat low capacity.... and Anaconda still sucks imho. Even in HS never liked it, and now that I've ridden more classic arrow loopers....this is just one of the worst. Used the skills I've acquired and my actual body to minimize the trauma, shame as its a fun layout, RMC needs to rip that track up and replace it with single rail! Dominator still frustrates me as its a good ride but shoots itself. The first half, so fun, fast, unique! Then turn left right into that MCBR and sure the corkscrews and meanderings are fun but ugh, the potential If only it did some more stuff before hitting that MCBR. All in all solid day and again I'm surprised at how not bad the crowds were given it was opening weekend. Rough ops hurt, Dominator was the only w a line that really moved. Did not even both with Flight of Fear that line was long and the drop tower was quite slow as well. We all have different opinions and experiences, and that's perfectly fine I stand by mine...once you leave the top 2, you got dominator which is good, then...imho its just not a great lineup. Lots of one and dones/fine rides but yeah just my thoughts. All I can say is the loss of 305 and Avalanche were quite glaring. Hope they get 305 up quickly for yall as it seems like its not a major problem, and that TT loads a little quicker. No hyperbole, day was prob 3 hours longer than I needed just from that ride's lines.
  13. So after chatting with an employee they said no, no chain snapped but it was getting stuck on the hill repeatedly. About 1/4 of the way up, according to them. They said they didn’t really know anything about it but figures it’s not something too major. Hope they can get it up in a week or so. They also seem thankful that I was chill and just chatting normally because they mentioned They’ve been getting a lot of grief from people even yelled at about the ride being closed. People eh?
  14. 305 is indeed closed. Brutal. Glad I had the heads up to prepare but yeah sucks hard. People can give grief idc that is ofc one of the reasons to go. Sorry to the wild mouse and horrid arrow looper lol Was looking forward to that beast again but what can ya do? I’m glad they too let people in early, so much better all around than accumulating crowds at the gate.
  15. nah people can mock but IDC, aint going if Pantheon isnt open. I will just feel bad. Like to have a good time but see it there and think damn.... also KD is covered by the pass, BGW is not and by this point I've spent a lot of $ lol Well that's fine Bert It's OK to disagree! All I'll say is, I am aware of their lineup lol I know what's there and yeah...outside the big two it doesn't really impress me. Dominator I do indeed find eh....fun but too short (I always hated that it runs so quick into a MCBR) and a lot of the rest is solid but ya know but nothing spectacular imo. Like I admire the positvity/enthusiasm! But Racer while fun, just a standard out and back, FoF is alright, Wild Mouse.....I mean cmon. IDC about location....Anaconda LOOKS great, but its utter crap lol Backlot is also fun but again, its not anything special nor is it unique. I do like Grizzly it was prob my fav outside the big two. So yeah, your opinion is perfectly fine, just as mine I think most of that, while fine, is pretty uninspiring. Good to know about I305, only been once while that ride was there and that was dang, 2013? Well I say good to know but if its down guess it don't matter. I guess we'll see!
  16. I will echo the question of where is this coming from? Was just a quick google, but I've not been able to find anything. So "heard its not a snapped cable" but like, what happened? Where is all this from? Thank goodness for the platinum pass. Like yeah I'll be super bummed (though if its something like that I reckon it'll be down for a while) but least ya know, free parking, not technically paying for the admission, so if its a bit of a bleh day no biggie. If I was paying full everything and going oof....that would really suck. If so guess I'll just get as many Twisted Timbers as I can!
  17. You will be crushed? I drove the near 5 hours from Carowinds today, so I can go tomm!! If I305 is down I will cry lol Esp with Avalanche closed. Not like omg that's a must do!!! But ya know...KD doesn't need anything more out of action and I assume 305 absorbs some crowd so yea that would be brutal.
  18. Well it went if anything a bit better than expected. Arrived 10:15 and sure enough people were there already but they were letting us in already, which was nice. It also hit me no one paid for parking. Least at that time. With platinum I wouldn't have anyway but yeah people were just going through, no one was even at the booths. So that was interesting. Naturally waited for Fury. The line itself was quite short honestly but the ops were slow, took about 45 mins and by this point line was huge so did a quick loop of the park. Nabbed Copperhead Strike, Afterburn, Intimidator before grabbing lunch. All the lines were short but slow moving. Strike was the quickest honestly. I get it, it's opening day. This is precisely why I don't do this lol But amazingly after swinging back to Fury and seeing that it was moving quicker I hopped in line and though it was longer physically, took only 30 mins. After this I had an amazing stretch where the wait was like 10-15 mins. No joke. Did 4 in a row for 6 on the day. Given how it started, no FL etc I cannot complain! Also having no idea how ops really work in the nitty gritty I wonder how much impact people have. Honestly, there were quite a lot of people not listening, paying no attention, a walk of shame on near every ride which is a frequency I've never seen, and in one case some people after being almost yelled at by the op "You cant leave stuff in the station" and to please get off the ride and just refusing, to the point where the op said "All 3 trains are waiting, you are holding everything up" and they still refused...some dude on line volunteered to hold their stuff. Yeesh. Also two enthusiasts (besides hearing their convo, we can always just tell...) kept hogging the B&M rows to themselves. Plopped down one on each end, and ofc no one is gunna test sitting between em. Maybe I've gotten so used to FL and zipping through I've never realized how much hassle people cause. That said for opening day not sure if it was thaaaat crowded. I ducked out around 4ish to head to Doswell for KD tomm but yeah not a bad day for a few hours on season opener. Should also say: I enjoyed Copperhead Strike more than last time. I was pretty meh about it but this visit, idk why but it was better. A little more punchy and whippy and this was before noon. Intimidator still a bit of an underappreciated gem, Afterburn is great and Fury.....nothing needs to be said. Though after 2 once it was really warmed up. My god, I forgot how fast that thing is. Like the low dive before the big helix almost couldn't keep my eyes open. What a ride. Then the rest....I didn't bother lol Carowinds has to be one of the most unequal parks out there like what a strong top 4 then plunges off a cliff.
  19. I completely agree like I said in a previous comment I am a very pro labor guy. And I have been all about the Memes that have been pointing out how lotta people fail to realize that people aren’t showing up to work because the pay is too crappy etc And also like I said as much as I love my coasters I am always for people not getting the shaft like there are more important things in life than rides. So you were preaching to the choir and I agree if they were having issues getting people to show up then you have to incentivize them to do so
  20. Damn....CP has f***ed this for sure. Yikes, also oddly generous from you XD but yeah I doubt it's an error. Though I have to hope they will cave bc that's pretty screwed up
  21. Yeah was always a fun ride, I liked boblsed coasters. It's also a shame w Volcano gone it's just one less ride here and I never felt KD had the strongest lineup to begin with. That said pretty excited to go this Sunday. I've not been here since shoot, 2013? Esp the RMC, oddly it's one I know little of nor do I hear it come up that much.
  22. Yup, absolutely justified. All you say is fair and I don't follow this type of stuff but if they did say staffing is no issue (Which seems they did) now they don't got it....deff they lied or grossly misjudged in which case yeah, should've gone limited schedule to be safe. They deff screwed up. Glad things seem like they will work out for ya but yup some people gunna get screwed by it.
  23. Thank god! If Steel Curtain wasn't open by 6/3 I was gunna just skip here and head onto CP lol I hope by then they have two trains running...but I'm also hoping that an early June thursday will be dead anyway.
  24. In HS I used to wonder if some people went to Great Adventure just to fight lmao Not surprised about the other either. I recall it was not allowed when I visited Discovery Kingdom, despite it being CA, and yes people were deff breaking it haha Yeah that looks gnarly. Can't wait for this thing to open. Despite all the grief I gave/give this park...El Toro and Jersey Devil is a helluva top 2.
