Dollywood Discussion Thread

Damn. For a minute there, I really thought the steel vs wood argument was going to kick back into action. There's still a chance we can get a mask argument and LR track type argument going at the exact same time, since this thread has been notorious for both. It would be... the perfect storm. Imagine standing in line next to someone wearing an RMC shirt, while they talk shit on all the vaxxed people outdoors not wearing their masks, and tell you you're stupid for not thinking LR is steel. I'd leave the queue, get in my car, and drive it to another planet. -

You know a park has a good lineup, when it doesn't get shitty until #12 out of 13 coasters. -

^Thanks. The injury wasn't that bad. I just have a small red mark I hope will go away, eventually. Good to see you posting again. We didn't ride it this visit. I'm surprised no one said anything about the turkey leg incident. -

Best beginner B&M coaster in FL
prozach626 replied to jimmiemac02's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If I were looking at it from a beginner's standpoint, here's how I would analyze it: Kumba is pretty intense. Montu adds the extra hanging element, and is also very intense. Shiekra has an intimidating first drop. The feeling on Manta's pretzel loop drops my stomach just as bad as Dragster, to the point where That, and the flying coasters are the only coaster types that make me feel queasy. I have a feeling of anxiety and anticipation with the excitement and enjoyment. It's an extreme tickle. Mako is very tall, the clamshell restraint makes some people uneasy, and it has a few ejector airtime moments. I've never ridden The Hulk, but it's an OG B&M, so I can imagine it's pretty snappy and forceful. I say Kraken. Definitely Kraken. It was constructed at a time where B&M was focusing on less forceful smooth transitions. The seats have heavy bolstering and it has over-the-head shoulder restraints for a more secure feeling. After you break yourself in on that, I'd go Mako, Kumba, Montu, Shiekra, and Manta. Not sure where The Hulk falls into line. Don't sweat it. They're all great rides. B&M doesn't go too crazy. Just be away, if you tend to get a tickle on some rides, Manta will be no exception. Brace for the pretzel loop and try not to die while enjoying it. -

Is it just me, or has Kings Island become the shining star in Cedar Fair's Line-up? As far as resorts go, Great Wolf Lodge may not be Breakers, but it's right next door. Or, there are plenty of hotels nearby. -

It seems like Cedar Point has had a bad combination of bad luck and shitty execution when it comes to Steel Vengeance. -

Yeah, The Boss. I just don't know if they could get the return on investment from it, since they wouldn't really be able to market anything new, unless they added an element. -

Bert, reading your TR's throughout the years, I think you will really like the combination of subtle charm and kick ass rides. I hope the carrousel lives up to your standards! -

Emily and I stopped by the park Friday for a couple beers and rides, after we were in the area for dinner. Here are some proofread highlights: It was cold and raining, but the park seemed pretty steady. The parking entrance was 5-10 cars deep in all rows. We were kind of expecting walk-on rides, because of the drizzle and cold, but that wasn't the case. Batman's queue was past the tunnel on the first drop, so we passed on that. The new queue entrance is nice. I was really hoping to see the station lighting. The lights on American Thunder were a nice touch, but on the Ninja they looked phenomenal against the white supports. Shall I say Cedar Fair'ish? I'd love to see this continued. We didn't get to see the lights on Freeze, due to wait times. We didn't check, but we saw a steady line of people entering the queue. Screaming Eagle was running great in the safe seats, as per usual. Middle cars, first row, as we ride most wooden coasters that are not GCI's. Eagle is still a shining star. I'm glad our coaster tastes have matured into really appreciating it. The jog through the woods is great. American Thunder actually had a little rattle to it, not to be confused with roughness. Hopefully it stops there. I'm wondering if it was a maintenance budget thing in the off season, or if it will just be due for some tracking, sometime soon. Speaking of tracking, it would make my year to have RMC use their brand new track replacement instead of giving it the I-box treatment. I understand that would be a lot of money for little marketing return. I'd gladly take it over a new coaster. Crazy, right? It was nice to see Xcaliber running, and Boomerang. We seem to almost always catch Boomerang when it's closed closed. We didn't ride either, but they're fun to watch cycle. JB's was really looking cleaned up. There's a DJ booth in the DC plaza, so we drank our beer and laughed watching kids get down to the music. They have no shame. Log Flume and Thunder River were closed. Cold weather. Superman was... closed... I'm not going to beat a dead horse with how the area looks. The crowd was way more tame than I thought it would be for a late night closing. I saw a lot of families... and an idiot family pushing around an infant in a stroller during cold drizzle at 11pm. It makes me feel like a good parent. (our toddler was in good with my In-laws for the night. #datenight) Bring back Budweiser products on tap, please. We'll make the 50 minute drive for a return visit this year... sometime. Nights alone are a rarity, anymore. I never realized handing off Eve for a night would come with such a mixed bag of feelings like guilt, joy, regret, and freedom. wtf Cheers. -

CP wind closures means maybe the employees are used elsewhere. "Look! We're almost fully staffed on all of our other attractions!" Nevermind. They'll probably just have them stand around in the stations or have them leave for the day. Truth. Indulge. -
I suppose as long as she doesn't actually represent herself as an employee you can't call her on wearing non-offensive clothing. The safe way to go about certain things is to not approach anyone about anything. You might be slaughtered with bad press on social media, if anything is taken out of context. Joking... but not joking. "This is the way." (Bad Mandalorian reference) However, Hilltopper is probably right. It came to my mind first, too.

I'd prefer a Robb Alvey commentary reverse POV vs. bad lip syncing. Favorite Robb youtube quotes: "My titties ar jiggling!!" (Dodonpa) "HOOOLY F**K!!" (Chimera) It's a bit ironic such a hardcore video was themed at one of the most family oriented parks in the US. Seriously though, thanks for the share. -

I'm a huge Breakers advocate, but this is true. Also, if you haven't noticed, there's a reoccuring theme to allot more time for Knoebels. If you don't ride the Scooters, you shouldn't be allowed back in PA. Go to the park with a different mindset outside of strictly searching for "big thrills" and it will be an unforgettable park. -

Did anything even change? I thought through June, 10th they had already been listed on the calendar as 8pm closures in early June. -
#tHeWOrldIsFLaT rite? Youtubers are mostly full of shit and completely shoot from the hip. Nothing about the description suggests Cedar Point. They're having a hard enough time as it is this season, let alone adding some challenging new ride which they won't even have enough people to staff. This ride will face additional challenges from the supply chain, anyway. I can't even get a new washer and dryer until August. I don't expect anything to surface anytime soon. Regardless, I have an announcement to make for everyone that I'm going to do something awesome and world record breaking. It will be challenging. It's such a sure thing the person I'm doing it for doesn't want to announce the achievement. Stay tuned and share my publicity link.

I mean... I'm pretty big into fitness, but I don't think I could cast judgement on someone who couldn't fit into a junior coaster. Any of us could probably be one bad binge season away from a walk of shame on Woodstock Express, considering it looks like your knees can slam the headrest of the car in front of you. ^ Dude in the green was probably in a leg cast the next day.
