You bet he could have! But I'm sure he had a budget, so things get truncated. Enter RMCs relationship with Six Flags... -
How many times the same ride in a day ?
GayCoasterGuy replied to mingsai's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That takes brass ones. And a steel stomach. That's like 158 "normal" coaster rides. -
Don't ever let a Six Flags cashier put the first day wrist band around your souvenir bottle; put it around your wrist. Next, put colored duct tape around your cup with your name on it or partially rip off the sticker. Do something to make it "unique" and the chances drop that yours will be stolen. People see stringy, knotted dental floss hanging from your cup and they will go for a different one

How many times the same ride in a day ?

^Lucky! I love that ride. A friend and I were there in 2011 and rode the heck outta Skyliner, but not that much! I rode the Americana Screechin' Eagle 64 times in one day. I was about 15, and couldn't get enough of the ride; I was visiting my aunt in Cinci and she dropped me off at the park for the day. Kings Island was down the road but this was better than anything they had (except a brakeless ride on the Beast, which was rare even in 1989). I limped out of the park that day with bruises on my thighs from hitting the lap bar. It was heaven! -

^It's an inversion to me! Now, let's get them to use the same restraints on their really loops rides -

^It doesn't have to fit in an exact interpretation category It took effort, for that they get kudos. Why does the park still have the Volare and the hang-n-bang? I'm back home in Chicago and my ears are still ringing. Ouch. More importantly, why do people still ride them? I could see it as a dare, but not much else. -

Looks like Sky Rider sure has some dedicated fans: This video immediately reminded me of South Park (in a good way). I had a GREAT time during my first visit to Canada's Wonderland (and Sky Rider too!), I'll post a trip report soon. Wish I was still there... -

^Don't get me wrong, I'm not wild about it (still needs a pre-lift section and some tunnels!). Beggars can't always be choosers, though! I'm sure it will be fun and super-popular. On a brighter related note, I'll be riding the Conneaut Blue Streak tomorrow - THAT I'm wild about -

I know it's just a B&M, but this makes me smile: Between Thunderbird at Holiday World and Fury, I haven't been this excited new B&M rides since 1992. (Apollo and Great Bear still rock though!) -

^Anything out of place on a B&M is a good thing. Everything else is the same, variety is good! Keeps things interesting. -

Fury 325 looks great! It's going to be a huge hit for them. I'm sure it's been mentioned a bunch already, but being over 1,000 longer than Leviathan (which I'll ride for the first time next week) is impressive! All that high bank stuff looks cool, especially the real high turn around. I'm moaned about B&Ms for a long time, and finally warming up to them. It's what we have, I might as well try to enjoy it more (I still want a pre-lift section, and more trench/tunnel action!) -

If you want Intamin-like ejector air on a B&M, you have to give up your roomy seats. You have to have a tighter lap bar and add seat belts. It's all a trade off. B&M could build wilder rides per the request of the buyer, but why? Their rides are middle of the road intensity and attract the most amount of people (money). (I'm saying that, trying to understand the situation, not because I'm a big B&M fan - which I'm not.) Personally, buzz bars on classic woodies are much more important than large run of the mill steel coasters (but I love them, too!) I would trade a few classic moments of air time for all the rip your face off uplift forces in the world. Just my 2 cents. -
^They keep changing their game plan. They keep customers confused. They don't treat their employees well (and brag about being the largest employer of minimum wage works . Why the hell would you try to make that sound cool??) It's kind of like they, the corporation, are taking the worst aspect of the idea of "corporation" and putting them to use. The lack of proper training, the YOLO attitude, it's all trickle-down. I'm sure someone could also explain better than I could about the crowds they attract - but it works out just fine for short term profit. Every single SF park I've been to has had the worst customer service; then sometimes it's really good - it depends on the employee you get. Trade offs? We get some really great rides (albeit not full coasters, like Goliath) and sometimes you get some very sweet employees who know what they're doing. *Remembering* the awful time an employee shoved down the lap bar on Superman so hard... I yelled at her (she kept bouncing on it - it was the year after the guy was thrown out), and she did it again. I had to go to first aid; complete with exam for bruising on the guy parts. That sucked. It was very painful, took time out of the day, just annoying. For the cherry on top, the park later sent me a generic apology form letter with my name spelled wrong.

It would be cool to see a dual-loading B&M station in Cedar Fair's possession. Of course, it's not Cedar Point. The operations when I was at Carowinds in 2011 were on the level of a Six Flags park I'd be curious to see a chart of all the big park's hourly (coaster) capacity numbers. One thing is for sure, they picked some cool track colors! -
^They'll most likely have to add a middle upright for every bent as Colossus uses the weaker IAD/NAD double bents with no middle support (could that have added to the "no racing" unwritten semi-rule?)... so unless they paint that middle upright, it will be natural wood color. A mix of old and new could be cool. Kudos to Lagoon for doing the sensible and cool thing by actually explaining it: Options: - Leave it white mixed with new brown - sandblast all the paint off, like Carowinds did with Thunder Road - paint the new wood white - a drain on resources.

^Thanks for the heads up. I'll probably head outside the park for one of the days I'm there. For my meal pass day, I sure hope the food operations are better than my local Six Flags park. I got the yearly dining pass a couple times and it resulted in horrible waits for cold food, etc. -

^Thanks for the advice. It looks like Marketplace is not on the all day dining pass, but there are 8 other places to pick from. Should be plenty -

What are the best places to eat at the park? Anything to avoid? I purchased a meal pass for one of the days I'll be there. -
What a beauty! Wonder what it will look like next year?? Despite all the annoYOLOness of the event (only half the ride running; those 'big wood' buttons - so much for appropriate tees n stuff!), Colossus looks DANG good. The beauty is still there - and about to change. I wish I could have been there to ride that classic structure once more. Goodbye to one of the Magic Mountain movie star coasters! Welcome to Iron Colossus, or whatever they call it. Six Flags, please don't screw this up. Make it the capacity monster that you so desperately need (heck, wasn't Colossus once a capacity monster!?) Ditch that green thing and Scream and dedicate the crews to the new Colossus.
