  1. That sounds like fun. I've never been and I've lived here for over 40 years. Give us a report of how it went.
  2. From what I understand. The reason Revolution got OTSR was that some people where trying to stand up on them. It was a safety issue. I hope some time in the future they can convert it (and many coasters) to the new Premier style lap bars. (The type SUF at SFDK has, I dont know if there's a proper name for them - but I love them) Maybe if Theme Park Review gives them a plaque like ACE did, Then they'll take it seriously. Right now the best thing to do is to keep your head firmly against the headrest.

  4. True to that. But I think operating costs are important to running a park that needs to make a sizable profit. Big profits equal more roller coasters. I'll wait in line 45 minutes to 1 hour for a great roller coaster. If the line is too long for an average roller coaster I'll just not ride it on that trip.
  5. Your right. I think they were opened because L.A. county schools were off. One thing to remember is that trains were in maintenance. Two and just as important is they didn't have enough employees to run the park. Without it being a year round park...Your staff will only be part time in the off season. I think they did great in trying to open on an off season weekdays. Can you say a year round Magic Mountain in the future? No, but they are trying.
  6. I follow the coaster guy all the time. The easiest is to just like him on facebook. http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Coaster-Guy/164979656870453 Then you'll be up on all the trip reports and more Magic Mountain info. He's the best. I also like SFMMCrazy productions for some good info once in a while. http://www.facebook.com/SFMMCrazyPro?ref=stream
  7. My fav attraction by far. Just try to notice that the elevator is working prior to heading up the hill as they seem to only have 1 person working the attraction. So if its at the top with guests it might be upwards of 10/15 minutes before it returns to the bottom to make pick ups. So it might appear/be closed unless you saw the lift working. Also heads up for this Saturday the 29th as the park looks like it has private party Sat night and will close to the public at 6:00pm. It wasn't open today. Maybe next time...About two weeks. Yes the skytower is an off and on type ride. I did see markers in the ground and paint on spots all around superman and the tunnel under it. There's stakes in the ground where The log ride was and the other side of the hill. I'll get pictures next time.
  8. Good point...But would they get a return on the investment price. Remember Revolution could use a make over...But will they spend the money when they could not recover the cost of the retro fit?
  9. I'm going to Magic Mountain tomorrow Wed. 9/26/2012. If the Skytower is open. I'll try and take some pictures from up there, even though I'm terrified of heights and the Skytower is almost 400 ft. It does have a great overhead view of the park.
  10. Thanks for the incredibly detailed report Chad. Looks like the park will have a winner on their hands.
  11. I can't see Six Flags Magic Mountain spending money on this for Colossus. How would they be able to market it and get their investment back?
  12. Six Flags Magic Mountain. On a special Wednesday. Normally closed Monday through Thursday as it's the off season.
  13. I'd like to see anything that would smooth that out. I love coasters and I like woodies. But that is far too rough of a ride to enjoy.
  14. I'm not sure what the new theming area would be, If the rumors are to become truth. But One flat ride and one Dark ride would be nice. I'll go in a couple of weeks and take some pictures from the Skycab. I'll also see if I can see any work being done on Windseeker.
  15. You'd die. Horribly. Generally not something a park wants to spring for. Yes, but what a way to go.
  16. This is very well thought out. If someone can go to Knott's and go on the skycab and get some pictures of the area. We'd have a better idea of what's possible. I'm not due to go until November. But I'll happily take some photo's and talk with some employees when I'm there.
  17. Rumors are just that rumors. But we have to think that Magic mountain announce it's coaster at the end of the summer season. Then came out with get the rest of 2012 and 2013 season passes now for the same price. All other parks announce there coasters for next season at the end of summer. Knott's have there get the rest of 2012 and 2013 season price for the same price also.....But they did not announce a coaster. Employee are taking about a new themed area with flat rides. To what benefit is it for Knott's season ticket sales to NOT announce a coaster like everyone else if they what the season ticket sale. Either it's a winter planed coaster or no major coaster. They lost there chance for a spring/summer coaster season tickets sales. This is not fact...just an opinion.
  18. This is why So Cal deserved Full Throttle and nothing better. I find it ironic that after nearly 40 years, Colossus is probably on it's way to becoming one of those "steel looping things". Whats a steel looping thing?
  19. Yes,It was a joke. I've got to learn to use smilies. I'm the type that likes it when a coaster stops on a lift hill. I keep thinking I'll have to get out and walk down from so and so height. I'm differently afraid of heights so getting stuck to me is fun.
  20. You make a good point. I've ridden windseeker 15 times since I have season passes. I already knew about it's safety record. But being stuck for three hours at 300 ft? That's too high for too long. I'll ride it again when it opens. But if it gets stuck for over 30 minutes,I'll ask for lifetime passes to all cedar fair parks.... Wish me luck in winning them.
  21. Screamscape I was at the park Sept. 9, 2012. They were just starting to remove the water ride. I asked a very well informed employee what was going to be put there? He said it was top secrete. I then asked a employee at the train gates and he was more informative. He was upset that they were removing their water ride as it was hot in the park and employees loved that ride. He said that they were planing a New Themed area with two flat rides. This is only a rumor. This is not fact.
