  1. DAY 2 part 1 For Bastille day morning, I thought it would be really busy and decided to go to one of the lesser known attractions in paris I took this picture from the walk there: It was this little tower thing - I can't remember the name - anyone know? I joined the queue, and 2 hours later I had my ticket and got in the lift to the first of the 2 floors the first floor had nice views: structure porn and a queue for the lift to the top The top floor had more views: is it just me, or does this look a little phallic? You can also see this rather cool 2 level road / rail bridge I had a rather average pizza lunch, which wasn't too terribly priced at about 6 euros, although I didn't bother with a cold drink as they were 5 euros for a bottle of coke! Coffee wasn't too bad at 2.5 euros - so I had one of those! I also bought some "eiffel sours" I made sure I didn't leave anything behind and then walked down the stairs - I can recommend this as it gives a good impression of the scale of the thing! The tower had this big shiny dangly metal ball! - Maybe part of the bastille day fireworks
  2. A couple of weekends ago I had a long weekend in Paris DAY 1 - Parc St Paul Took the overnight coach from london to paris, dropped my luggage in the lockers at Gare du Nord and got the train to beauvais. Beauvais was a nice little town, and worth the hour or 2 I spent before getting the bus to the park - I took this picture of an amusingly named shop There are 2 or 3 buses a day that go to the park from the bus station in beavais (about 200m from the train station), although the timings worked so that I either had just over an hour there or 5 hours. this is the sight that greets you at the entrance and the kiddy drop tower just to the right First ride of the trip was the "maison foldingue" a cute little family spinny ride it spins and giggles and makes fart noises! (when it farts it emits the mist you see above, and a rather strange sweet smell!) Next up was the Telepherique - the rather strange aerial slide cred or not, it was a fun ride, and quite scary holding on when you're a bit on the weighty side! the little disks which you stand on I didn't do the mini mouse coaster (zamperla) or the family coaster(big apple) as I'd done similar before, and I'm not THAT much of a creho and I had to do the walk of shame on this little boat ride... onto the coasters: Wild train was a pretty good fun, compact family coaster (by PAX) The "souris verte" (green mouse), spun lots and lots and lots! and I was a bit dizzy when done! There was also a nice drop tower NICE TOUCH: The stairway on the right is actually part of a viewing platform that goes around the tower. the star ride was Formule 1 (also PAX) a wild mouse type ride with a super steep lift hill outwards tilting track and insane slam you into the lap bar airtime on this 2 stage hill after all this, I realised I could either leave on the bus in 20 minutes, or stay for another 4 and a half hours - I decided to get the next bus back, although I'd have liked another hour there - there just wasn't enough to keep me there for 4 more hours! (on the way back I realised I'd missed the haunted castle and 3d thingy)
  3. I must have been at a different park then - I had a beef roll in hershey that was yummers!
  4. Was no queue here!! AND it was a Sunday! (sorry - had to do that!!)
  5. That's why I couldn't remember it from a week or so ago - was just looking at the month and day from the first post! Wonder if skyrush would change the opinion a bit more in favour of hershey nowadays??
  6. and I'd like to add wild eagle at fort fun - the slow backwards climb does it! telepherique at parc st paul - hold on tight!! Also - My first coaster was the scenic at great yarmouth - before I went, both my dad and grandad told me how they'd said "I want to get off" half way up the lift - I was determined not too, I did get scared going up, but I've been hooked since!!
  7. didn't you do the toboggan thingy then? Or brer rabbit's burrow?
  8. I used to rate coasters from 1-10, and then I realised I had too many 10's (I'm too easily impressed), so I split those into 10,11 and 12. Then I rode Colossos, and decided it was better than any of my 12's - so I then rated from 1-13. After Skyrush and bizarro - my ratings go up to 15!
  9. Hi, This isn't so much a "what are your favourite coasters" thread, as a "how easy is it to decide on your list" thread. For example - My current count is about 350, and I have ridden 5 which I'd say were better than the others by a long distance (If you want to know - Bizarro at SFNE, Skyrush, Colossos at Heide park, Nemesis and piraten at Djurs) 6 onwards is where it starts getting awkward. How about you?
  10. Hi, Reading through the "Comprehensive credit conversation" topic I saw the following comment. Was just wondering what satan's in chitown was? - have looked up chinatown on rcdb and can't find anything..
  11. I enjoyed Mach tower at Busch too - Ok, the brakes kick in quite early, but the feeling on the drop you do get is very nice! ANd on SFA - Our group had some strange things confiscated by the security (hair curlers, a bandana and I had a bottle of water taken!), and those shinpads on superman ruined the ride for me (it could have been pretty nice, but was pain). Didn't mind batwing though - even though I greyed out towards the end!
  12. You didn't ride flying frog and you still call yourself a credit whore??
  13. Had a good day on sunday, and it wasn't as busy as expected, but was surprised by their loose article policy all rides except Oziris had a "no loose articles to be left on the platform" rule - even Goudrix with it's 7 inversions of pain and death - my rucksack was flying around the seat - glad i'd put my leg through one of the straps!
  14. well - There is the one at parque warner in Spain!
  15. Another "I don't read the loose articles warnings" review on tripadvisor:
  16. A couple of Cedar Point reviews on tripadvisor why should the park compensate for the actions of a few selfish toerags? (and just keep your cellphone on you - in a plastic bag if on a water ride) and from a single female:
  17. I had a 30 min ERT on it with CF a few weeks ago. The whole group lasted all 30 minutes - 7 or 8 rides each, a few complaints of sore legs, but almost everyone loved it, and those who didn't love it, did like it!
  18. so - how does the merging work with the regular queue? do you still get to choose where to sit, or are there rows roped off hershey style?
  19. Skyrush eats Millenium force for breakfast - then returns for a good go at bizarro!
  20. You make it sound like some sort of punishment!
  21. Changed my plans a bit - getting the overnight coach on thursday, and Parc St Paul on friday (There is actually a bus that goes there from beauvais - but not on saturday as it's bastille day) The bus times are slightly annoying - I'll get either 1.5 hours there, or 5 hours - looks like it;s a 2-3 hour park particularly if you want to take pics, do the 20 min boat thing and get a few rerides on the mad pax contraptions! Beauvais looks a nice little town, so I'll spend an hour or 2 there before as well! Saturday I'll do Jardin and france miniature, and maybe the montparnasse tower - was thinking about the eiffel tower but they're on reduced lifts at the mo - and you can't buy any tickets for that weekend at all! (and they say to allow at least 2 hours to queue if you're buying on the day) Sunday I've got the premium pass for asterix - other than transdemonium (and the other coasters), what are some must do rides that aren't on the premium pass? Oh - and do they have lockers? I've read some reports that say you have to take bags with you on goudurix. and then the overnight coach back....
  22. I'm beginning to think that the premium passes I got will be well worth it (even if they only include about 1/3 the attractions of the cedar point one!)
  23. This year's been epic so far! Swarm at thorpe 3 at brean (didn't ride the big apple) - 4 2 at wicksteed (didn't ride circus clown) - 6 3 at lake compounce - 9 spited by quassy - (2) 11 at six flags new england - 20 spited by all of coney island - 6 - (8) 12 at six flags great adventure (spited by toro of all rides) - 32 (9) 4 at knoebels - 36 7 at dorney ( spited by stinger) - 43 (10) 8 at six flags america - 51 12 at hershey - 63 13 at kings dominion (not taxi jam) - 76 6 at busch williamsburg - 82 7 at kennywood - 89 spited by both coasters at idlewild - 90 (12) 15 at cedar point (not jr gemini) - 104 and 12 spitings so far. and this weekend I'm off to paris for asterix, st paul and jardin - so should get a good dozen there depending on what I get on.
  24. They were probably "saving electricity" - that's the one I keep hearing when people ask why swarm is only on 1 train!
