  1. The answer is always "do both"
  2. is it just me, or are those times the wrong way round? 7pm to 10am is an odd time for a coaster to run!
  3. I think there's a transfer to SFGA from new york, but for cedar point, you WILL need a taxi from the greyhound or amtrak station (or a non resort hotel) to the park - I think it's actually illegal to walk there, if not then highly impractical - when I went, I was really surprised by the size of the place on a view from the taxi as it went round to the hotel. also - there's only one amtrak train in each direction a day, and they both arrive at sandusky at around 4-5am.
  4. thunderbolt and jack rabbit at kennywood - both start with drops and have a lift hill later. The mine train at hershey - just does nothing!
  5. I'm an air guitar virtuoso (even in music with no guitar), and a maestro with the old air baton!
  6. if your coaster count includes 100 big apples, miner mikes, go gators, clown coasters etc..
  7. Millenium force is the worlds number 1 steel coaster... Makes me laugh every time......
  8. only *USED* to..... anyway you may be a coaster nerd if you hear the word "noodles" on a cookery show and think of skyrush
  9. I don't like fancy learning books I don't like apple tarts I don't like cosy breakfast nooks I don't like modern arts Well I like farts yes I like farts I like long farts, short farts, wet farts, your farts I like farts! (actually - I do like apple tarts!)
  10. Coaster related - Zierer tivoli's non coaster - playing with boogers/bogies!
  11. I'm a long time coffee addict - I love to have a cafetiere in the evenings, and I have a nice Gaggia which gets used pretty much every morning! One of the best espresso's I've ever had was actually at a theme park too - there's a coffee shop in Liseberg (I think it's called S'kafferiet) - and I could tell it would be good when I saw how much care they were taking over every cup! mmmmmmmmmm!
  12. I've ridden 3 stand ups (apocalypse, green lantern and mantis) - strangely I'd put apocalypse as the only one which is somewhat rerideable - not sure if the others are just rough and painful or intense. There are 2 which are forceful throughout - batmans at number 1 intensity, followed by nemesis which does have a few slight "pauses". some other coasters have their moments - alpengeist, dive machines, raptor (cp), and one or two others (particularly black mamba) have magic seats! also a +1 for nitro's helix!
  13. getting a reprieve from fantazy land, and being forced to visit at least 3 * a year what's worse than school dinners?
  14. don't like crab, so red lobster an hours marathon on the worlds roughest SLC or swift kicking in the shins?
  15. SHame nash broke down - but at least you got one ride - even though it's rough (particularly right at the back) it's great! I love steeplechashe, but it did take some "practice"! also - Wild mouse is awesome!
  16. I start a new job soon!
  17. Granted - but yuo just won the lottery and it's all means tested now! I wish someone wuold tell me next weeks winning UK lottery numbers, before the draw, so I have plenty of time to buy my tickets!
  18. what's worse than posting an answer to the previous question, without asking a new one?
  19. Kingda Ka has OTSRs like maverick so that should be ok, also - I think nitro had more room than some other b and m hypers Toro may be a problem - the belt is about the same as bizarro at sfne, but the bar needs to come down further - so it depends how far the ride op can squish it!
  20. Those of you who do the coastercounting thing, do you do anything "special" for milestone numbers (50s or 100s) do you a - Just go with the flow. b - Make it a goodun c - make it a big apple or something equally cheesy! I go for a or c - I like the idea of having something like a zierer tivoli as a 200.. Just reminds me of the geekiness of the hobby!
  21. I rather liked the whirlwind there myself!! and anyway - it might have been http://rcdb.com/1003.htm
  22. Day 3 - Parc Asterix Thinking it would be very busy on the sunday after bastille day, I splashed out on the premium passes - queues weren't too bad at all - only Oziris topped the hour mark - so I could have got away without them - even if it was great to get on the big rides a few times. One word on the premium passes, is that you enter via the exit ramps - and they usually ask where you want to sit - I couldn't find where it was on the madhouse, it's not that obvious! I guess everyone's waiting for an Oziris review - so here goes. The ride isn't as forceful as nemesis or batman, but it does have some lovely pops of airtime throughout - I'd describe it as a kind of "troy with inversions" - which I think is a pretty good thing - I really enjoyed it, had 4 rides, I think row 5 (or was it 6?) gave the best ride.. Also - it looks lovely! and an arty shot! Also - it's the only ride there which has a loose article drop off - all other coasters you have to take your bags with you. first rides were the spinny flat ride hydra, and Vol D'Icare - a strange Zierer coaster, which was decent fun and then on to transdemonium a rather strange dark ride Wasn't too sure about it to be honest - didn't wow me like Brean or the haunted house at knoebels Next up - Trace du hourra Was ok - but I still think avalanche in blackpool is the best bobsled coaster! SOS Numerobis is next to oziris, and is what you expect from a zierer medium tivoli... Goudurix looks awesome but rides like it wants to snap your neck! (particularly in the first 4 inversions) Tonnerre de zeus was a ride I was really looking forward to definitely better in the front, but rather disappointing - not much airtime looks like zeus is about to smite a duck! I then plucked up the shame to ride ronde des rondins Glad I did - it was surprisingly fun! Another main attraction is the Vekoma Madhouse - there are 2 preshow rooms, the second one is a sort of "hydrotherapy" room and is rather lovely! (no pictures - seems I forgot to take pics! Other rides included - l'espions de cesar a monorail thing - don't bother with the pedals as they don't seem to do much one of those circle boat ride thingies the park also had a dountain area for kids: lots of shops: odd signs and nice theming The premium passes included a 3 course meal in the fruitbowl themed restaurant you only had a choice on the main course, but the starter and desserts were fixed.
  23. DAY 2 part 2 - Jardin D'acclimatation After spending most of the day at the eiffel tower, I went for a couple of hours in this nice little city centre park. It's a five minute walk from the tube stop "les sablons" or there's a mini train that goes from somewhere near the "porte maillot" RER/tube stops - I couldn't find the station (and rather cleverly, left my map in the hotel) so walked. the train station in the park: I was thinking of getting the train back, but it wasn't running just before closing time. It's a nice large green park with a few smaller areas for rides Entry is 3 euros, ride tickets are 2euros70 First coaster was Tacot express A nice little powered coaster by Soquet There was also the dragon - another Soquet coaster: SPLASHDOWNS! NOM NOM NOM! (looks fierce, doesn't it?) RAHRRRR! Both these were 1 token each, however, I got to the spinning coaster: and saw CALL THE POLICE, We're being robbed!! There were also some flat rides, and a strangely disorientating mirror maze, and just what every park needs: Exercise equipment - in case you have to do any walks of shame Oh - and some wildlife: mmm - worms! I JUST SAW A G-G-G-G-GHOST!!
