  1. My most memorable coaster was not necessarily a good one! I still will never forget my first and only ride on Mean Streak. I seriously had the the thought that I was not going to survive that ride as I was on it. At that time my interest in coasters was still new, so I had no advance knowledge of the reputation of this evil S.O.B.
  2. Done. I loves me some triple donation action.
  3. I would love to see a mega-lite at this park! Vortex seems to have such a small foot print to me. How does the size of a mega-lite compare? I apparently had exceptionally bad judgment this afternoon and rode Vortex today and I was painfully reminded of just HOW bad this coaster is. Something needs to be done with it for sure. On a related note Joey, it once again reminded me of how much torture you must have endured sticking it out the entire time a couple of years ago during Coasting for Kids! Mad respect.
  4. Apparently 1971 was not a stellar year for coasters. Best I can find that is still operating is Gold Rusher at Magic Mountain.
  5. I don't think I have ever been as excited about a new movie release as I am right here right now.
  6. I could see the logic of considering them if they have permanently affixed rides (such as the Washington State Fair). However if all of the rides are portable I wouldn't even remotely consider it an amusement park.
  7. If you don't have any luck, you can upload your pictures to photobucket (or similar site) and post them that way.
  8. ....and done. Team TPR logo added to both mine and my friend Teresa's page. Glad to see that Joey has signed up and we are not the only TPR people now. See ya in June Joey!
  9. I am getting lonely here on Team TPR for California's Great America. Where my CGA peeps at?
  10. www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/style-blog/wp/2015/03/03/smithsonian-bans-use-of-selfie-sticks-in-all-of-its-museums/ Not quite making it to the amusement parks yet, but it is a step in the right direction!
  11. Are the animals really all that much of a draw? Other than the marine sections (dolphins and sea lions specifically), I have never seen huge foot traffic in the animal areas. One could even argue that Odin's Temple isn't really a DRAW despite the crowds it attracts. Just playing devil's advocate here to a degree, but the back area of the park has always seemed a bit desolate to me.
  12. I just wonder if this is part of a larger move to slowly phase animals out of the park all together. Thoughts anyone?
  13. All signed up for my 4th year at Great America! Looking forward to raising funds and of course to participating! Should be signing my friend up for the team soon as well. support.gktw.org/site/TR/CoastingForKids/General?px=1018277&pg=personal&fr_id=1360
  14. From what I have seen, the lines on both of those rides would say otherwise. I have always seen lines for Grizzly, but none for Vortex. Case closed.
  15. At least at Casino Pier there was a view to go with the pain. The horrible coaster will now be overlooking low income apartments and a gas station car wash. Thank you all for spoiling my hopes and dreams by pointing out what a P.O.S. this coaster is.
  16. Added TPR on Ello, but that is about it. A social network isn't much of a "network" if no one you know is on there. I don't think they could really gain any traction at this point no matter what, but ESPECIALLY not until they add mobile apps.
  17. Amazon is where I got it as well, but I have heard it is also sold at the park when it is operating.
  18. Ahh yes. The Dragon Coaster. I must borrow a child to go get that credit. Well that sounded a bit creepy. On a related note, it appears as if the coaster is now called the Crazy Dane Coaster. Not sure if I mis-read it before, or if there was a change in the name, but yeah...
  19. What a difference a couple of weeks makes. Drove past again yesterday, and it seems they kicked it in to high gear! I know everything people have said is negative about this coaster, but I'm still excited. Sacramento pretty much has NO other coasters. Bonus shot of their new scrambler.
  20. OK OK...you've guilted me in to finally posting the pics of my gifts Joey! Thanks for keeping me "honest." I felt bad for not posting right when I got them, but so much time had past that I figured it was too late. LOVED my gifts and took pics right as I opened them! Thank you to my (not so) Secret Santa. So much awesomeness. MY FAVORITE! Hey! The year I was born! Somebody is tricky. This will soon contain Fireball. ...as will this. Awesome randomness! Thank you so much!
  21. Not sure if this book has been mentioned in here, but I just scrolled through it after having it for a few months. First off, it's always cool to randomly find a picture of yourself (during Coasting for Kids) when you're flipping through the pages. But the main thing looking through here has reminded me is just how much of the original theming from the park has disappeared. I still love the park for the rides and they have definitely made improvements over the last few years, but there is just a "feeling" when visiting there that isn't the same as it was in it's heyday. Thoughts?
  22. Yes, looking at the pics on rcdb it definitely does not look comfortable. But hey...I'm in it for the credit. I cant imagine the people that live in the apartments across the street are real thrilled with a coaster being there. Perhaps that may have something to do with the delay.
