^ I wouldn't count on the block brake being removed or that double dip returning. It was redone with that to allow three-train operation on each track, though I have yet to ever see six trains running at one time. Original Colossus was...insane. There was ejector air that left bruises on thighs and sent one rider flying out of the train. (We all know about that.) In short, it was quite a different ride from the one you take today. Terrifying to be honest. And at the same time, quite the thrill. Eric

^ It doesn't sound like Uncle Will should have any problems. Cousin Steven...maybe. I believe that the maximum height limit on SLCs (as with Invertigos and Giant Inverted Boomerangs like Deja Vu) is because of the potential for someone tall to reach up into the track above. That's apparently not a problem with B&M inverted coasters, being that I've not seen an upper limit on those. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong with any info I've given. Eric

^ In-N-Out is a good product; my only gripe is that the burger patties should be bigger. They tend to get lost in the veggies and sauce in my opinion. Eric

^ Keeping a positive attitude can work wonders with treatment. Really. Keep her in good spirits and she'll have a much better chance to beat the cancer. Eric

West Coast Bash 2009 - Six Flags Magic Mountain

^ Keep in mind, any major events like WCB are mentioned all over this site far in advance, so if you're a regular reader, you should see it on the Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys board. Eric -
^ Sorry to hear that. I hope she caught it in an early stage where it could be treatable. Eric

^ Sort of like steak fries, I'm guessing. At In-N-Out, I've started getting something called the Flying Dutchman, which is off of their "secret" menu. It's just two patties of meat with two patties of cheese, served on a burger wrapper. This is a good, low carb way to enjoy In-N-Out for those of us who have to watch the carbs. This is full of protein, but it's not exactly low in fat... Eric

^ I seem to remember something like that, but I believe it was before the Morgan trains arrived in 1987. The thought of new trains on Colossus got me to wondering what kind they'd get? Before the Morgans, they had four-car, three-bench PTCs, and before that, the original five-car, three-bench IADs. From what I recall, the Morgans were supposed to run faster and smoother. Now that they're over 20 years old, they sure don't seem so smooth... Eric

"Well, we walk out with a half pound of unsalted nuts..." (buttonman700) I get my snacks at Target, and I buy their Archer Farms brand nuts---unsalted roasted almonds, cashews, and mixed nuts. A handful a day is a good, healthy snack. And I throw in a couple of squares of dark chocolate, too (I buy the Lindt 85% cacao bars). Eric

^ Very honestly, I agree. But for me, alcohol interacts with insulin and can result in dangerously low blood sugar. So I just eat healthy (I can eat grapes, which contain some of the same beneficial components as wine). Eric

With regard to alcohol use, I was raised in a conservative Baptist church where alcohol was forbidden. The Baptists' belief comes from where Jesus said, "Be ye not wine bibbers [drinkers]." My interpretation of that is that Jesus was saying not to overindulge and abuse it. To me, an occasional glass of wine or a can of beer is nothing to worry about. (I never liked alcohol anyway, so I never really got into it. And being a diabetic using insulin, it could actually kill me.) Basically, I don't give temperance lectures to friends who do choose to enjoy a little alcohol. I may chime in later on other issues. This is a good topic provided it remains civil. And it will as long as either side doesn't come in and start bashing the other. Eric

"If they would put the requirements of Gold Rusher, Colossus and Revolution back to their 42" height requirements, it would help..." (Sir Clinksalot) While Revolution's height limit was once 42", Gold Rusher and Colossus have always been 48". But I agree that Colossus is tame enough to have a lower limit, but it also depends on the train manufacturer's requirements. At WCB, it was mentioned that new trains were in the works for Colossus. I don't know if anyone caught that. Eric

^ It's a sweet hobby, really! Seriously, it really does help when you have someone who shares the same issues. You can learn from each other regardless of what it might be. Eric

^ I did eat some JR onion rings at WCB; yeah, they're not bad. The best onion rings are usually at mom-and-pop type fast food places. Burger King's look like something you'd find in your grocer's freezer---small and all the same size. Eric

^ On that note, generally, WCB is the day after Solace at Knott's. If you can find Solace, you can find WCB. Generally... Eric -
I rarely eat fries anymore because they send my blood sugar soaring. But...I do like In-N-Out's fries better than the ones at McDonald's. However, I've been eating healthier stuff like the original beef or chicken tacos at Baja Fresh and have rediscovered El Pollo Loco for good chicken tacos. When possible, I get a burger on a whole wheat bun and forgo the secret sauce/mayo (but I always have anyway because I can't stand the stuff). Funny thing---I didn't realize that I was the one who started this thread. Eric

^ Actually, SFMM needs Bugs Bunny World, but it could stand some updates. They just got Thomas Town last year, and supposedly a Wiggles World is coming within a few years, so all of the little kids should have plenty to do. There's a long list of things that park management wants to get done, but it's going to take awhile. In my opinion, they're doing a good job. Eric
