Alton Towers Discussion Thread
RCT3Bross replied to Ed's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The same person who was responsible for my last comment here says he has a second contact to confirm the story. He claims the ride will not open tomorrow but can't be sure about Friday. I guess if they could open tomorrow we would have seen something on the site by now, but no news yet. I must say I believe that this story is the most believable. Alton Towers surely can't wait any longer as this ride start costing more and more money like this. -

Found this on Towerstimes forum: I shared this so we might have a idea whats going on over there. I must say I suspected something more with the ride it self but this sound more like a relief. Who knows perhaps this weekend its running. -

So we have no idea right now. I don't think you place something like that without thinking it isn't needed. But to remove it afterwards is kinda odd. -

Alton Towers uses the "in the hall of the Mountain king" theme like before Nemesis commercial. If you listen you here the tune in Air, Oblivion, th13teen and Spinball wizzer commercial as well (and the non coasters as well), it is slightly different in the tunes but its still the same song. Note that Rita isn't among them Rita was back from the days the park wanted to get away from the theme. -

Good Advert, love it. It's as mysterious as the theme. 2 things I noticed in the ad. 1. Light effects: I think the tunnel will have some light effects down there. 2. I suspect there is a small reference to the dueling in the video. If you look at the Staffordshire knot scene you see 2 cars. Both 2 are just speculations at my behalf. -

Found this video thanks to Towersstreet Facebook. The video it self is from Express online. You can see how smooth the ride is in this reverse POV little shocks at the Cobra but for the rest you fly through the track. Besides someone should tell the guy in the blue shirt a coaster like this only becomes more nauseating when you close your eyes. -

For me this construction isn't going fast enough. I'm super exited to see the final theming work done. Colorado looks still very empty I hope it comes out as great as the rest. It's good to see that the track is done, with some details left. -

I won't call the vliegende Hollander bad. I call it below my expectations. I think this ride has some great theming work in the queue but the ride is just sort and boring. The queue is what brings me back to ride it every time not the actual ride. -

Wasn't that ride send to the junkyard? I'm interested to see them try again. -

Good to see parks doing there homework. I mean they're all that's left of this design, and they can point out that it's a far trip from Europe to the next one. I haven't said it last time so now: I'm so happy with the Lap-bars, nothing tops going through a inversion in a train with lap-bars. -

Finally I can plan a date to go. Psyké Underground sounds kinda weird if you don't know the background of its story but the theme was expected here. Looking forward to ride this old Schwarzkopf. About that video in French, I'm so happy that's Belgium. Because I speak no French but my Dutch is okay. -

^ I watched the video JayTricky has placed above me. During that video we see some onride footage what has been mirrored. So while I watched the first onride fragment I thought we came up the vertical lift in place of the normal lift. But while I watched the onride fragment we see the two dive loops after after the drop what makes it the first half. My suspicion is later confirmed with the Marmaliser being on the right hand side instead of the left hand where it belongs. So why did they mirrored the onride footage? -

^ What's up whit the mirrored onride? I first thought that we came up the Vertical lift but after the 2 dives I noticed something wasn't right. -

I'm kinda tired of these bad onrides. I must say I'm happy with the full onride being released now, but like this. I must say Good to see the green fields of around Smiler. -

^ Looks slower. Can this be a different train? Could it be that Saw's roughness was part of the theming? Because the only Euro-fighter I rode wasn't really bad or handbagging. As you can read I haven't got many experience with Euro-fighter's so I can't judge. -

Last part of the Smile always. Interesting story behind it. If you know more about Miles Cedars you can give this information to the park you could win a sneak peak on the Smiler. More information about the sneak peak here: http://www.the-smiler.com/videos/ -

There is one barrel roll before the lift. You can see it in the early construction images before it was enclosed. Here from a Towerstimes update. Between the steel you can see it. -

Second train is lowered in. Towerstimes forum. Also they're making a path towards the Marmaliser. Towerstimes forum. Who knows perhaps 2 train testing soon? Update: Train number 3 is on in the air: Towerstimes facebook. Wonder how many are still to come. There is room for 5 trains (4 in the maintenance shed 1 outside), So are we going to see 5 or 4 trains. -

Love how her hair sits all good at the start and all messy at the end. Looks like a great ride and I can't wait to test it out. -

We've already saw it on the offirde video but the entrance is on site: Towers Times forum I do think it doesn't fit the rest, If they did the same shape but with the colors and pipes from the station I would have found it a lot better. I know Alton Towers just have these sorts of entrance signs but I think Oblivion, Air, Th13teen and Nemesis are much more in theme then this. -

Looks like it has a good speed throughout the ride, only part I saw it go slow was at the second half of the batwing. Looks like a great ride can't wait to ride it. -

Just a question here, Has the smiler already taken the record from Colossus, or isn't that going to happen until it opens? I ask because I have no idea how when records get official with roller coasters and I want to know. -

Yeah there wasn't any capitation about the record with the picture. But My best guess is the 14 inversions. (Hopefully kicking the lying Eejanaika from it's throne) It seems like we only care about the train in the background. -

^^ Most likely not. There have been lighting all over the construction site these past few days, which I'm aware of are removed already. Now with this video I'm sure it was for this. Great video the shoots of the track and the lighting makes it really a good way to announce the world first of this ride. To be honest I only mist one thing, a train.
