American Thunder is the best coaster in the park tho. . so it's worth the trip just for that. -

^ yah . . Zach sent me a link to the Wiki page to read up on em! -
one of my favorite Disney Rides. I absolutely prefer it to Indiana Jones. . . which is odd, as Bill says, it's the same ride system. I think it gets crapped on because it's located in the "crappiest" area of Animal Kingdom: the cheapie Dynotiopia area. . but now that Primeval Whirl is gone, maybe the area will get a refresh and not look like carnival rides in a Disney Park.

^ "Bald Knobbers" ??? creeeeepy -
ok. . looking at it in English, confirms what I suspected from the French version: LaRonde does NOT offer memberships. so yeah, it's not odd at all. The other parks, they took the perk away from Season Passes to force folks to Membership. LaRonde doesn't offer Membership (click the Membership ticket link. . it brings you to Season Passes options) - so they can't take away that perk to try to force folks over.
-
keep in mind. . this is just a Survey, Bill. but I'd expect it would be, IF they go the multi park pass for USA. . since the Six Flags Mexico site has both Memberships and Season Passes avail. for purchase and clearly states that Season Pass bought at Six Flags Mexico is ONLY good for Six Flags Mexico and Hurricane Harbor there for rest of 2021 and 2022. so if they roll out the multi-park pass option, I'd expect it would be good there too. *unlike French, I do read and speak Spanish. . LOL. . so could easily read the Six Flags Mexico site.
-
LaRonde is not a USA park, and doesn't appear to offer the monthly membership as an option (they only do Season Passes from what I can tell on their website (I can't read French)). So yeah, it's an exception..*ALL* USA parks currently state that if you purchase 2022 Season Passes they are only good at your home park. and they update your current 2020-2021 pass to the 2022 one as soon as you purchase.
-
No longer works. the moment you buy a 2022 pass, it's active and overwrites what you had on your 2020-2021 pass. Meaning if I had taken the "sale" they offered over Labor Day, and then again earlier this month? I wouldn't have been able to use my current pass to go to SFOG or SFOT (planned trip in Nov). It's gonna be interesting if they DO roll out the above stuff (and I really hope they do) as they are going to have a LOT of pissed off people who renewed, and want to have the extra park access. (wonder if they are going to allow "upgrade" to pay the difference to get to Gold level for that access). all moot at the moment anyways, as this is just info from a Survey, and not anything they rolled out (yet)
-
clearly the American parks are following a different template. but hopefully that is about to change (see Six Flags Corporate discussion thread) edit: just looked at the LaRonde site my self, and although I don't read French. . it doesn't APPEAR that the park offers Membership as an option. Only Season Passes. . so yeah, makes sense they wouldn't change the way they operate in terms of that.
-
Have to assume their decision to make Season Passes good only at your home park for 2022 is going over like a fart in a hurricane, and sales have PLUMMETED (without an increase in Memberships). because I just got a survey from Six Flags asking all about different levels being offered to Season Passes - which are very similar to the Membership levels (with similar benefits) and asking why I would choose Season Pass over membership. the survey included a version of "ticket" page that included this: (I highlighted the Gold Plus option, as that's what I would go for). so really hopeful this will get rolled out and be a reality. i'd purchase one in a SECOND.

handed out all over and in booklets avail in the Tourist-Trap area of Niagara Falls (Canadian Side). Over where the Wax Museum, Go-Karts, Arcades are: and so you can see how close it is to the falls - not even 5 minutes: -

^ it only took us 35 minutes to walk to it from the front gates when we went on our trip in 2017! but I must admit, it was well worth it (and with so many coupons avail, it was, I think, only ~$17 to get in for the day, so we certainly got our $$ worth. and the animals seemed really well cared for and the environments well maintained) -

^^ WOW! i mean, I'm glad they are busy, as everyone could use the business. . but sounds very "horror show" - which I guess is appropriate for SCarowinds -
check the Park Calendars to ensure that SFOT is open that Monday. yes, both parks are year round, but they tend to not be open daily in "off months". . . mostly Fri-Sun. So double check. At SFFT, the Waterpark will not be open, neither will the bumper cars (they typically use that for the "skating rink" during HitP, and Gully Washer (rapids) tends to be drained and closed - tho the flume will probably be up. . . but I believe most rides are open. At SFOT, as far as I'm aware, most rides will be open, other than the water rides (flume & Rapids). But it's been a while since I've done HitP at SFOT, so that might have changed.

Pacific Ocean Park (1958-1967)
bert425 replied to bert425's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
ooo. .just found some footage from 1959 as part of a documentary about the Pacific Coast really cool: -
I'd never heard of this park, which makes sense - since it shut down the year I was born. but Turner Classic Movies (TCM) had a feature last night on Nancy Sinatra and showed 3 of her "best". . and one of which was the 1967 special "Movin' with Nancy" I knew it would be cheesy as hell, but I'd heard some of her songs (my Mom was a fan) and it was filmed in 1967 so I wanted to see the fashions (and Sammy Davis Jr. as a dancing photographer in an infamous scene I had seen previously). and oh. . it didn't disappoint - awful and incredible at the same time. but the final song in the special "Who Will Buy" was filmed at what looked like an abandoned Amusement Park. took some digging, but was able to find out it was filmed at Pacific Ocean Park - that yep, shut down the year the special was filmed. very interesting footage, and the park really looks rather charming with some pretty big areas for Marine shows! some great rides listed too, if we are to trust the wiki page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pacific_Ocean_Park did anyone ever go to this park when it was open? (us oldies, I mean), or know much about it?
