  1. You're joking about Grizzly being closed right? The park will probably NOT be modifying Grizzly immediately after they build a new wooden coaster. It wasn't closed. They were doing some Haunt construction in the back and had a "Please Pardon our Dust" sign up in the front. Just a joke.
  2. Was at CGA today. Rode Goldy for the first time, and I got to say... Gold Striker is one of the BEST wooden coasters out there. This is coming from a person that has ridden some of the best wooden ones there are such as Voyage, El Toro, and Lightning Racer. Other comments -park was packed. extremely packed. Thank the Cedar Fair gods for Fast Lane -lines for everything. Waited almost an hour to get food. -Good operations on all but Grizzly -A "Pardon our dust" sign in front of Grizzly. IRON GRIZZLY! NEW FOR 2014
  3. What do you mean by "A permanent solution"? The stadium seems pretty permanent to me, and I think the fact the stage is on the water is pretty cool. I think its fine the way it is, unless your talking about something different regarding the stadium. Toyota Stadium is the former Shouka stadium.
  4. I was actually thinking remove the splash boats and use that for an expanded Invertigarden ride.
  5. So now that I got the party started over at CGA thread... let's talk Marine World. What does everyone think next year will bring? I think we'll probably see a permanent solution to the Toyota Stadium and possibly a small flat... however it'd be nice to finally see the old 4D buildings back in use.
  6. Technically, Flying Dragon at Funderland is a real roller coaster, despite being a kiddie coaster. Though, I am happy that Sacramento is finally getting a good sized roller coaster. My only question is where Scandia plans on putting it. They don't exactly have acres to deal with being squished between 80, the motel 6, and the neighborhood.
  7. What about a Proslide KrakenRACER or something along those lines. http://www.proslide.com/ride/krakenracer/ It seems to be a smaller , people eating, family ride. Sounds like a good fit for the park. It could go somewhere back in between Flight Deck and BB. My other thought for future expansion in the park would be moving the picnic pavilions all up to around the lagoon near Flight Deck. There is a decent amount of space up there that could in turn free up some expansion room in the back. Then of course, there is Invertagarden that needs to be dealt with at some point too.
  8. This has to be a SFMM record for longest a ride has gone without one train operations. They're making progress folks. One delayed horribly operated ride at a time.
  9. So... is it too early to begin thinking next season? Though I think nothing huge will be added, I wouldn't be surprised to see a small Boomerang Bay expansion along with some TLC around the park. Maybe a 49ers themed sports bar to celebrate the new neighbors. Anyone have different thoughts?
  10. I don't think it has anything specifically to do with Kings Island. What tipped me off was the page source. You'll see that page calls an inline frame referencing http://50.56.214.67/gforcify/?park=7. That made me dig a little deeper and all of their parks except Knotts and Gilroy Gardens have the same page on their site referencing the respective park id the developer used for each park: Interesting.. I'd assume this has something to do with a new Cedar Fair ad campaign. Knotts is probably left out because all the fine work they've done on making it a family friendly park and I probably get more gforces running then I do at Gilroy so that one is obvious. As for the ad campaign, sounds quite Six Flagish to me.
  11. Though a wild mouse, it'd be great to finally have a real roller coaster in Sac (has there ever been one?) Can't wait for it. Maybe next, we can get a real amusement park.
  12. Overall 1. Voyage 2. Nitro 3. Apollo's Chariot 4. Sheikra 5. El Toro 6. Flight Deck (CGA) 7. X2 8. Manta 9. California Screamin 10. Led Zeppelin (HRP) Steel (top 8 are above) 9. Xcelerator 10. Revenge of the Mummy (USH) Wood (top 2 are above) 3. Lightning Racer 4. Gwazi 5. Comet (HP) Notable mention- Kingdom Coaster (DW) (It's a lot better than you'd think)
  13. Well... it is in Stockton,CA. There are a few little coasters up in Sacramento... but nothing worth the trip there. CGA isn't far (60-90 minutes) and SFDK isn't that far either. Hope that helps. Northern California (especially Sacramento) is very limited with coasters. Something I hope on day will be fixed.
  14. Is there anyone that has ridden both rides? I'd like to know how they compare to each other since I know USO had much more freedom in the building of the ride (space limitations, new building, etc.)
  15. Mummy at USH. Quite an exciting ride for how small it is.
  16. We managed to spend the entire day at Universal Studios yesterday. The waits were about the same all day with Mummy- 20-30 minutes Studio Tour- 40 minutes Transformers- 50-60 minutes House of Horrors- 20 minutes LAX is 30 minutes away from USH (without traffic) so you wouldn't even be arriving at the hotel until 2:00ish. Then, it would take another 45 minutes to park your car, check in, walk over to the park, buy tickets, get inside. That would only give you 3-4 hours (depending on operating schedule) to do the rides you wanted. You may want to find a way to get more time out of USH as it is a park you can definitely manage to spend all day at if you wished.
  17. I hear this one a lot at my local water park. Someone went off the edge of Stealth (one of those V shaped slides) and into the street where they died. I take the time to point out the wall that would block such an occurrence from happening.
  18. Was at the park yesterday for my first time. I greatly enjoyed it, but (I don't think I'm the first) prefer Universal Orlando. As for anything I saw, they were indeed building a foundation for a new structure in between the Studio Tour entrance and Kwik-E-Mart. If they converted Doc's Chicken and the Mexican restaurant, they could easily have the Simpsons area that is rumored. As for Despicable Me, I wasn't able to get over to that section of the park however it looked like a busy construction site from a far. Also, it appears the Fast and Furious display on the backlot tour is down as we skipped it with no mention. Finally, what are they building in the New York section? There were multiple construction workers working on the frame work of some new building.
  19. I would say basically all the coasters at SFDK (except V2 & Boomerang), but I think the cemetery beats it.
  20. Holiday World California's Great America Six Flag's Discovery Kingdom Best Coasters of the Season 1. Voyage 2. Flight Deck 3. Raven 4. Medusa 5. V2 6. Demon 7. Legend 8. Roar 9. Vortex 10. Grizzly
  21. At least they studied their demographics. Anyways, I'm starting to doubt this even more after seeing the plan... I mean unless the entire Bay Area is gonna all come and stay in the hotels and go to the theme parks, I don't see how they expect people to get there. I mean looking at the surrounding area, there is no way to get to Tracy. Here's my analysis. Stockton Airport ( very limited service. not even 1 flight a day) 30 minutes Sacramento Airport (150 daily flights. Mostly Southwest to Southern California) 1 and a half hours San Jose Airport (about the same as Sacramento) 1 hour Oakland Airport (huge Southwest hub. mostly West Coast destinations) 1 hour San Francisco Airport (huge United and Virgin America hub. Most major North American cities) 1 hour and 15 minutes I mean... why would I fly into a airport, rent a car, drive to the middle of nowhere over an hour away, be secluded in the middle of corn fields with nothing to do but what's provided by the theme park, and go to a place that I'm not sure about when I can go to Disneyland and fly into an airport, hop on a bus or taxi, ride for 20 minutes, arrive in a resort town with plenty of options for everything, and do virtually anything I want. I mean the location just doesn't make sense. There's a lot of land in Sacramento or Fairfield. At least that's developed.
  22. http://qkme.me/3qlvq5 ^Click since it's not letting me post the picture. Anyways, there seems to be some concept art on KCRA's website. http://www.kcra.com/news/local-news/news-stockton/Theme-park-bigger-than-Disneyland-heading-to-Tracy/-/12969936/16227102/-/gyvgbpz/-/index.html Starts at 17 seconds. And by the way, in the video they mention a development he built in Roseville. Actually it is in Citrus Heights but it doesn't matter. A quick search shows that the development is half built and in the middle of a Sams Club, Walmart, Costco, and ghetto shopping center. This man really has an eye for great locations.
  23. The Johnny Rocket's are literally 10 ft from each other. On the Sea side of the park all there is a drink stand (beer, slurpees, soda, pretzels, and churros) and a small building with chicken tenders and fries. I think they also recently added a meatball sandwich to the small building though. Edit: Here's my idea for Six Flags. A drop tower, food court, new family coaster, and new indoor penguin exhibit.
  24. That could work, but I just can't see SFDK removing an animal exhibit for a food court. It's not impossible, just not likely in my eyes. I meant a food court and a ride. One is needed over there though. The park is WAY too large for only 1 food court that only sells Panda Express, 3 chicken strips, 2 ice cream, 2 pizzas, and a burrito place. A little more variety would be nice.
  25. I don't think the animals are going anywhere. With the height limits back there, Six Flags couldn't do much except build a bunch of small flats. I highly doubt they would do that. And also now that I think about it, Tava's Jungleland, Seaport Junction, and the monkey themed rides (why do we even have monkey themed rides if there are no monkeys?) would be semi-hard to explain and a waste of money. I think Six Flags just wanted to get the problem off their hands. Edit: Reading the previous insight, I could see then moving the Sea Lions. The Sea Lions take up a pretty large plot of land that is in the 150ft zone. I could also see some sort of new food court there as that is something SFDK is lacking. Of course that then separates the Sea Lion exhibit from the Sea Lion show but they do that with the dolphins too.
