Alton Towers Discussion Thread

I don't think comparing your ERT on Viper to what The Smiler does is very accurate. The Smiler has 14 seperate inversions. Riding Viper with "less" time between circuits than the second lift of The Smiler does not suddenly make it a 14 inversion coaster. And plus, with the height restrictions that Alton Towers has, it would be very difficult to complete 14 inversions with one lift hill. -

Thank you for also recognizing that thrillseeker4552 did nothing wrong. -

I don't think you need to apologize for asking a question, and several other people mistaking the context. You were curious about why the color was slightly different in reality as compared to the animation, and everybody jumped on you like cheerleaders on the nerdy girl. You did absolutely nothing wrong, and I want you to know that I understood where you came from in your original comment. I never once thought you were complaining. Ironically, it was the people pointing their fingers who were complaining. -
My best guess is they're either invisible or haven't been installed yet. The airgates are coming from wildcat. They needed a train parked in the station to be able to line everything up properly. It won't take them but a few days to get them installed once they are ready to. Thank you for actually answering my question. I was just concerned they might go another route with the loading process. I would hate to see a magic carpet style loading system, where we just file into the train from the front.

Worlds of Fun (WOF) Discussion Thread

Lines on opening day at times got up to probably about 45 minutes. It should only get worse on the weekends from now on. -

I was there on opening day. I did not see a single person purchase, use, or even mention Fast Lane. All of the new Fast Lane entrances were very apparent though. -

Before knowing about this green track, I had been dreaming of Worlds of Fun getting a green Wingrider. No joke. -

Cedar Point has a massive lime green coaster too. Or just a green one at that. -

My two main choices for a new coaster are an Intamin Woodie and a Dive Machine. -

Well as is evident, dive machines loose momentum really quickly. There is more than twice as much surface drag as normal coasters, and less people, which means even a 200 ft drop wouldn't be enough to do a lot with. Also with wide trains, the transitions can't be very quick, which implies the layout would need to be more sprawled out, which would waste momentum as well. I didn't say anything about it having an average B&M layout. Just adding a couple more inversions. -

I always envisioned a unique Dive Machine for Cedar Point. I don't see why there can't be several inversions on a Dive Machine. I think anything is possible in terms of elements. I think a Dive Machine with a vertical loop and a really elongated zero-g roll or rollover like the last inversion on Wild Eagle would be super cool. I don't think the size of the trains are an issue, especially when B&M is already dropping them two hundred feet. -

People always complain about coasters being too similar. Cedar Point has three launched coasters, several coasters with inversions, several coasters that are over two hundred feet in height, several coasters that are under two hundred feet in height, all 17 of the coasters except two are made out of steel, there is a butt load of Intamins, the list goes on. I don't see why someone always has to find a negative in everything. I don't think a Dive Machine is anywhere similar to a Strata coaster with a twisted vertical drop, a Giga coaster with an eighty five degree drop, and a coaster that is barely one hundred feet in height that has a drop beyond vertical. I think a Dive Machine is one of the most different things Cedar Point could install. They aren't very common, they have a holding brake at the top of the drop, the drop would be the first true and straight vertical drop in the park, it would have a ride vehicle never before seen in the park (both floorless and up to ten across), it would also hopefully include several inversions, it could have a water splash, and on top of all of that it would be another visually stunning ride for the already stunning skyline. My point is, I can also find a bunch of similarities within the park, but they don't bother me. They also don't bother the general public. -

I think the closest GCI has ever gotten to ejector air is the third hill on Prowler's "triple down" and the hill that follows. -
I absolutely love the Gerstlauer trains on Boss. I think those trains are beautiful in looks. I was able to make it to the park last summer, and my boyfriend and I loved the almost threatening roughness of that coaster. We loved the feeling of having to actually brace ourselves for each turn on that insane juggernaut. Backseat night rides on that thing to us are actually more fun than night rides on the glorious Prowler. I really love rough coasters when it is the right kind of rough.

There's nothing to get. It's just a color choice to make the ride look interesting. I love random color changes on coasters, it makes them fun and playful. I hope they do another blue one and then go back to yellow. -
I don't know why everybody thinks there is never any room for another coaster. If an entire coaster is removed, I think it's safe to say another coaster can be put in it's place. If Ninja were to be removed, another coaster could be engineered to interact with Jet Stream just as easily as Ninja did. Look at Gröna Lund, Blackpool, and Hersheypark.
