  1. Is anyone aware of any coupons, codes or other discounts for single entry to Phantasialand? I'll be there May 14th. Thanks, Peter.
  2. Is anyone aware of any coupons, codes or other discounts for single entry to Hansa Park? I'll be there May 11th. Thanks, Peter.
  3. 1. 4 hours for X2 at SFMM and it broke down the rest of the day. 2. 3 hours for X2 at SFMM it then broke down again and I left the queue and still have not ridden it. 3. 2.5 hours for Dodonpa at Fuji-Q not long after it first opened. The Do-Do-Npa Do-Do-Npa chant recording for 2.5 hours almost drove me crazy. Short ride but excellent. A little disappointed they are removing the top hat for a loop. Even though it looks slow cresting the top, it really tried to throw you out of the seat.
  4. Is anyone aware of any coupons, codes or other discounts for single entry to Movie Park? I'll be there May 13th. Thanks, Peter.
  5. I'll be there on May 9th. I Plan to do MotionGate from 11:00 then move onto IMG later. I know I'm going to melt.
  6. Thanks for the pointer, I couldn't find anything on their site (which keeps crashing, so they may be updating it), but did find info here: http://www.dayofdubai.com/news/dubai-parks-and-resorts-announces-new-operating-hours-and-packages-summer Unfortunately not good for me as it only starts 21 May. The good: AED 195: admission to any one park with endless food and drink AED 295: admission to any kind of 2 parks over eventually with endless food and drink (not sure what this means, but it's a direct quote) The bad: Parks open for less hours and starts later. Though it is damn hot middle of the day so open longer is welcome. MOTIONGATE ™ Dubai Daily 2pm-10pm Bollywood Parks ™ Dubai Daily 4pm-12am LEGOLAND ® Dubai Daily 12pm- 8pm LEGOLAND ® Theme park Daily: 10am-- 7 pm
  7. Any suggestions where to purchase discount tickets to Ferrari World, Motion Gate, IMG, and the Burj tower? I'll be there 8-9 May. Thanks Peter.
  8. Perfect timing, I'm in Dubai and Abu Dhabi in a few weeks. Let us know if it's worth heading over to Warner Bros to see what they are building?
  9. I do, and don't care what day they are sent. I usually read them on the weekend when I have time to get lost down a TPR rabbit hole after following a link.
  10. Video of the first "official" ride with the "Chosen ones".
  11. I agree, the most recent reliable article I have seen about it was a few years ago in the Sydney Morning Herald. Anthea took over the mechanical engineering at Scenic World from her father, but there has been little work done in the intervening years. From memory she used work on the orphan rocker as part of her mechanical engineering degree. I still have a 4min video from 2003 taken by staff showing the ride being tested with a couple of passengers, but not sure if I am able to distribute it as I do not know what rights were given to me at the time. Peter
  12. Turbo Mountain in Perth, Australia. It's a customized Schwarzkopf Jet Star II. The trains were altered to 2 people side by side in 3 rows. They used to be 2 people inline x 3 rows, similar to a log flume. The cars were also self propelled by motors in each car driven up a circular lift hill, this was replaced with a more traditional straight chain lift hill making a very unique Jet Star II. Peter. Turbo Mountain
  13. Robb, I have just seen a new camera you might want to consider using for POV stuff, the oregon scientific atc9k actioncam $400RRP. •1080p = 1920x1080 pixels (16:9), 30 fps, ~12 Mbit/s data rate •720p = 1280x720 pixels (16:9), 60 fps, ~12 Mbit/s data rate 130-degree field of view Waterproof down to 20 meters/60 feet so would be good on splash rides too. Records to microSD/SDHc cards up to 32GB, so no moving parts to get jerked around. It has a GPS Plug in available But most interesting for coaster porn videos is that it claims to have a G-sensor built in which embeds G-force data on the video recorded. It might be fun to show the G forces around the track on your fixed POV shots. Unfortunately details about this G-Sensor are pretty thin on their website, but the user manual shows that it does record G-Force in all three axis, but does not give any details about what intervals measurements are taken. Just thought you might be interested. Peter.
  14. Unfortunately I don't get enough free time to digest all the great info on TPR. I would pay for a subscription to an online newsletter (magazine format) where the months news and reviews have been summarized, with the option to print and read offline. Peter.
  15. 1. What are your initial thoughts? Could you maybe just start with a PayPal (or similar) donate button for people to voluntarily donate a few dollars. I have seen this used successfully on other sites, and would not split the users into 2 classes of members. 2. Can you think of anything else we could be offering? I like to read away from PC's. How about including a monthly printable PDF/ebook newsletter which covers the latest park/ride news & reviews each month. I joined the European Coaster Club many years ago because of the quality of their "First Drop" magazine and still find it useful for keeping up with the newest rides around the world when I don't have time to keep up with all the updates online. 3. Is this something that interests you? Not as it currently stands. 4. Why would you NOT be interested in this? Mostly as it does not offer much incentive to the average International member. I'd rather donate $5 and not get anything extra. Peter.
  16. Most TV's made in the last 20+ years have some form of input other than the antenna socket. There are many different types, but the most basic has one socket labeled Video and one or two sockets labeled Audio. This is where the DVD player gets connected. But are you asking about this video download?
  17. Thank you TPR. After the failed downloads, I waited till today and it downloaded perfectly first go. Peter.
  18. The problem is on your end, not TPR. We've already had nearly 2,000 people download this successfully. Please don't blame TPR. --Robb I also have the same problem with this download and the previous feebie. I have tried IE8.0 and FF3.5.5 but can only get 300-700Mb before either browser thinks the download is complete (does not give an error). I'm sure there is no problem with the file or your server, but some of us outside the US (like Sasquatch) are having problems with our browsers thinking the file is finished prematurely. This is because your server does not advise the browsers the actual file size to expect. Both IE and FF report file size as unknown during the download. If the connection drops or has a long pause due to congestion the browser does not resume, it just assumes it is finished. I have tried loading down my connection to slow the download which worked for the last freebie download, but so far after 8 attempts it has not worked for this file. I know you do not want to put any time into fixing this for free downloads, but I assume the same will occur with purchases from the shop for some foreign customers. I am not able to try any more attempts, as I am now receiving "Access denied. You do not have permissions to access this file" in red from your server when using the download link. Peter.
  19. The galaxi that is there currently, was only installed in 2001/2. and ran intermittantly till 2004. It was last inspected and passed by the state in 2004. This is may be a physically a different coaster to the one that was there during your 2001 visit. Peter.
  20. The write up sounds great, pity I missed the pictures. Peter
  21. Does anyone know why nightmare mine stopped running at frontier city Oklahoma in 2004. The ride is currently up for sale, but is listed as being in a useable condition. Which is why I'm wondering why the ride was not used in the 2005 season. Peter.
  22. Portopialand have being saying that they will close 'next year' for at least the last 3 years. But this time the rumour is correct as they now have a countdown on their home page. It will be a shame to lose the BMRX, it's a nice tight Schwarzkopf coaster with a curved lift hill, but still using a chain lift not tyres as is more the norm. I was disappointed not to have ridden the bobbahn before it was damaged by fire at Phantasialand, so I made sure I rode BMRX before portopialand was closed. Peter. BMRX
