That's not that bad. I went opening night and it was a lot worse. I think I waited about 50 mins for the Thing and 45 for La Llorona but I did all the other mazes earlier so they had no wait. Except House of 1000 Corpses and Wolfman which I did both right before closing which were both pretty much walk-ons. I think I'll go on a Thursday sometime later this month so the lines won't be bad at all.

Taken from the Mercury news. I don't know how likely this is, or if this means that CF will be holding their hand through the proposed woodie project (since that was part of a Cedar Fair influence back in the day), or what any of this means... We will find out soon enough though. About CGA's music: Last I knew, that song (along with the rest of these songs) were written exclusively for CGA. Whether if Cedar Fair had influence on having these songs made or if the park made an executive decision to have some uniqueness to their event and have one of their people write up the music, I don't know...Only thing I do know is that one of CGA's people wrote the music. That's good news that Cedar Fair might still operate the park. Then not too much unwanted change will happen. Ex. Halloween Haunt, GCI etc. It could be like Discovery Kingdom when the City owned the park but Six Flags ran it.

It's a really great event. If you are going on a weekend I would suggest getting the Front of the Line pass. Hope you have fun when you go. -

It was the same for us in there. Almost no monsters until the bedroom and then they were everywhere. That was the one area that actually "got us" as there was a new monster surprising us every time we turned away from another one for about 10 straight corners. Our favorite maze of the night. It really is a great maze. The more I think about it I wonder if it was designed to half the first half be little to no scares to build up the intensity and have the creepiness factor the first half of the maze.

I went to haunt last night and I thought I would post my review of things. Let's get started. Note: I do not get scared in the houses, so Scare factor rating is just based on my observations of people around me. Warning: This may contain spoilers, if you do not wish to be spoiled. Stop reading. Here we go. I will be reviewing all the new/updated mazes. Invasion Beneath: This was our first maze of the night. I had heard some bad things, so I was somewhat skeptical on the entire thing. But from the minute I saw the first scare, I was sold. The mine ride this year actually had some atmosphere this year. The animatronics here were outstandingly placed, and the effects that the talent triggered worked really well. Highlights of this maze were all the animations and props they used, as well as the Glory Hole area and the last room that was filled with fog. Scare Factor: 8 Set Design: 9 Story: 7 Atmosfear: 8 Immersion: 8 Dia De Los Muertos: This maze I had been through quite a lot in the past, but the reworking they did really helped. The jungle scene is just about the right length this year instead of in years past where it was long boring, with little or no talent. The Graveyard this year worked even better than before. Scare Factor: 7 Set Design: 10 Story: 5(No real story) Atmosfear: 9 Immersion: 8 Uncle Bobo's Big Top of the Bizzare: Wow! The changes they made here made it feel completely new, new facade, new path, new rooms, new scares, new animatronics, and even Uncle Bobo on the outside. The changes in this maze made this my favorite clown maze I have ever been through. Scare Factor: 8 Set Design: 9 Story: 7 Atmosfear: 7 Immersion: 9 Doll Factory: Yikes! I for one am glad this is the last year for this maze. It is really showing its age. The talent also seemed pretty bored in there, and half of the scare spots weren't even used. Scare Factor: 3 (Nobody was in there) Set Design: 9 Story: 8 Atmosfear: 6 Immersion: 6 Terror of London: Another maze where it is time to go. Don't get me wrong, the sets are fantastic, but there are too many long stretches where nothing is going on. I give this maze one more year, if that. I loved it last year though. Scare Factor: 6 Set Design: 10 Story: 10 Atmosfear: 9 Immersion: 8 Endgames: This maze had it all. I was a bit worried the maze would be too short because of the location, but it felt like it would never end, that was great. The talent in there was very enthusiastic and the energy was up to 11! All around, one of the best mazes at haunt ever. Scare Factor: 10 Set Design: 10 Story: 10 Atmosfear: 10 Immersion: 10 Delirium: This maze was the most trippy maze Knott's has ever done, and it worked. From entering the stomach of the Devourer to a voodoo swamp area, and even recreating birth, it was all here. This is by far one of my favorite mazes ever at haunt. Tied with Endgames and the original asylum. The first half had literally zero talent, but we might have just had bad timing. But by the time we got to the bedroom, there were monsters around every turn. I noticed many new scare tactics and designs in this and other new/updated mazes which really made the mazes more interesting and not get boring. If you can only do one maze, do this one. Scare Factor: 10 Set Design: 10 Story: 10 Atmosfear: 10 Immersion: 10 The returning mazes from last year all still kicked a** which were, Virus Z, Sleepy Hallow Mountain, and Fallout Shelter. Cornstalkers which was also re-done last year still was great. I had an amazing evening last night and hope to be there again soon, this year both Horror Nights and Haunt were amazing which is odd considering that. 2009 Horror Nights was the better of the two and 2010 Knott's was better. But this year the both were extremely well done and I hope everyone gets a chance to do both this year. Thank you for reading my review.

I guess so. I'm going to be at Haunt tonight so I hope to be able to see a reduction in trash cans. Isn't it funny all the parks around the country are talking about new coasters or new major attractions next year, and we are talking about how many trashcans they are removing. I'll be there tonight too and I'm sure now I'll get the crap scared out of me by a monster while I'm paying attention to the number of trash cans in the area. I know right. You can always tell the monster "Don't bother me, I'm looking at the Trashcans"

I went on opening night, but I haven't had time for a review until now. First off, I'd like to say that Halloween Horror Nights was amazing this year. I also went last year but I was severely disappointed over last year's event. This year I noticed many changes in the scare tactics and the designs evolved as well. I'll start with maze reviews. I'm rating them in order of preferance. P.S I don't get scared in the houses so scare factor is just based on the reactions I saw from people around me. Warning: This may contain spoilers. If you do not wish to be spoiled, do not read. Alice Cooper's Welcome to My Nightmare. To sum this maze up with one word would be a challenge. I was a bit skeptical about this maze even though I am a huge fan of Alice's works, owning all of his albums, but I was still a bit iffy on the concept. But, from the moment I saw the facade I was sold. The amazing lighting work there just took my breath away as well as all the props around the facade, it was immersive from the start. Then as I got into the maze I realized just what an amazing journey I was about to be taken through. The highlights of this maze for me where the Executioner's room as well as the Asylum, Black Widow and School's Out. The whole maze was incredibly detailed and immersive. Atmosfear: 10 Set Design: 10 Immersion: 10 Scare Factor: 10 La Llorona Going into the event, and even waiting in line for this maze I was worried that this would be a horrible maze. Considering La Llorona's scare zone and Terror Tram section last year were completely and utterly horrendous. But from the moment I saw the facade with the fog and lighting it had my expectations were raised a bit. We first entered a church which was one of the if not most beautiful room in any maze I have ever seen. From there we went into the blacklight statue hallway which just felt larger than life and incredibly immersive. The garden/cemetery area came next. This had a subtly creepy vibe in this room. The next big highlight was the river room, which was incredible. Including a misdirection gag which caught the people behind us by surprise. The next big highlight was the end. Which featured the reused Freddy head, but it made it feel totally different. I hope this and Alice Cooper show John Murdy and his team that original concepts work well at Horror Nights and even better than the movies in my opinion. Atmosfear: 10 Set Design: 10 Immersion: 10 Scare Factor: 10 House of 1000 Corpses 3D Not much to say if you went through it last year. It still kicks about the same amount of a** as last year. Atmosfear: 9 Set Design: 8 Immersion: 10 Scare Factor: 8 The Thing: Assimilation This maze was a bit of a confusing one. On one hand the mazes sets were phenomenal, but the scare factor wasn't consistent through the entire maze. I left the maze happy with what I saw, but I do wish there was more scares. But the set design and creature design were absolutely incredible and made up for the scare factor inconsistentcy. Atmosfear: 9 Set Design: 10 Immersion: 9 Scare Factor: 7 Eli Roth's Hostel: Hunting Season Hostel was a great maze. I loved the fact that the actors had a bit more freedom and were allowed to roam instead of being stuck behind a door all night, which I saw in other houses as well. The maze had a familiar feel to it though. It felt similar to Saw in some parts, but overall it was so different that you wouldn't even notice a lot of similarities. The set design here was a little bit low down because there weren't very many detailed rooms. Atmosfear: 9 Set Design: 7 Immersion: 8 Scare Factor: 8 Terror Tram: Scre4m For Your Life I thought this year's Terror Tram was great. The only thing I was the tiniest bit disappointed with was the setup/video. I still think Saw's video worked the best, but for what it's for, the setup works perfectly. The sheet maze worked well with the theme of Scre4m and even worked better than the Psycho House Sheet Maze. War of the Worlds was darker this year which allowed for more hidden scares, but the hill/woods which used to be the highlight of the Terror Tram is sadly now long, boring and uneventful. Atmosfear: 9 Set Design: 6 Immersion: 6 Scare Factor: 7 Wolfman: Curse of Talbot Hall Finally a maze that works with the House of Horrors. This year they actually changed a lot of the permanent attraction for the event. They even made the spinning tunnel about the Wolfman. This has been the best House of Horrors overlay yet. I was just surprised by how much they added/switched out for this maze. The only "awkward" rooms were the Mummy, Chucky and Frankenstein the rest pretty much fit well. Atmosfear: 8 Set Design: 7 Immersion: 6 Scare Factor: 9 Well I hope you enjoyed this review. I have a few thoughts as well. I think that USH should continue doing unique and original concept mazes because my two favorite mazes of the night and the only ones with all 10's were both Original mazes. I count Alice Cooper as original since there is no real scenes they are just pulling out. Another thing great about this year was the lighting and scare tactics and even room designs. I think the lighting this year was amazing and a bit trippy at some times. The scare tactics this year more seemed focused on the scare than a scene except for the Thing. I also liked the fact that the Scareactors wandered a bit more and not all the scares were scen specific scares. The room designs were interesting because you actually got to explore the room instead of quickly pass by it. In the end, I think this year's Horror Nights would deserve a perfect 10/10 and I hope they continue doing all new mazes every year and exploring some original concepts as well. Thanks for reading.
