TPR's Game Exchange! BETA TESTING!
mcjaco replied to robbalvey's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
^ Got it. I read too much into some things. William, I tried uploading the Giant Dipper file through the Game Exchange. You're correct in it not taking. Not sure why as I've uploaded via the Exchange before (rather than our Admin Panel), and didn't have a problem. We have both NL file types supported....very strange. We'll have to look into it further. I uploaded it via the Admin side, for what it's worth. Personally, I hate rating systems. They either get abused or no one uses them. Take a gander through the Exchange. See which ones catch your eye. Those are the ones that you should mimic if you want download traffic. Sell, sell, sell! -
Angry Gumball is correct. I can't get it to take uploads of his file. Not sure why, as both nl file types are ok. I tried without any other info, and filling in all applicable info, and added a test photo. It looks like it's uploading but then kicks me back to the Exchange page. It's not uploading any files types. This is really odd, as I was uploading stuff via the Exchange last week to test it. I didn't have any problems.

TPR's Game Exchange! BETA TESTING!
mcjaco replied to robbalvey's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Guys, if it's not in the Exchange but you've uploaded it to the Forum in the past, it's because I haven't gotten to it yet. I'm only on page 34 of 58. Be patient! Please do not upload a file if you've already uploaded it via the Forum. It will get in there under your account. nlpack and nltrack files types are supported. But I'll look into it. -

For reference (this if for everyone), I'm only at Page 34 in the Forum (which around April of 2007), I may not have gotten to all your stuff yet. Which is the case here. -

Can you describe the issue??? Pretty sure they are. I remember those. They may not be under your name.....which will have to be changed if that's the case. Your idea has already crossed my mind. -

This is a hosting Exchange for your files. Consider this an extension of the TPR Park Index. We won't host files/pictures if they aren't posted to the exchange or the forum. Otherwise, it'll end up being like a lot of the other game sites where links go bad, and the file is lost. For instance, right now I'm at work. My company blocks images hosted by ImageShack, flickr, etc. Anything posted to the Exchange right now, that I've used link to pictures with those sites, is showing as a big red X. Eventually those links could go bad for good, and it'll be a permanent red X. -

Yes on suggestions, but let's give a couple of days to see how you can all manage your accounts. Not sure I'm following on the link to file versus file page. If you've got a file on somewhere like, MegaUpload, don't link to that. Those links time out after awhile, and we'll have dead links. Upload your actual files. -

I'll just add to what Robb has already stated clearly. - Check to see if I've already added files to your account. I'm working backwards from the last page of the forum. Again, if you know you've uploaded something to the Forum, DO NOT post it to the Game Exchange. I will do it for you. - We have limited categories right now. Please only upload track files, park files, or scenery files that are your creations. I'm still working with some of the RCT community on hosting Custom Rides and Scenery Files. (Side note - I'm aware there isn't a original version of RCT Game option available right now. I'll be adding it this evening.) RCT Category added - This is a place to "SELL" your creations. Keep the descriptions short, but creative. Good pics and descriptions are paramount! - Two peruse the Exchange. There's some really awesome stuff from the way back machine! - ENJOY! -
^ Yes. You do need to be logged in. If you're not, it defaults you to the login page.

^ Let's go live today. I can still upload tonight. 450+ items is pretty dang good. The Game Forum gets a lot of action on weekends, so getting it out there now would be good.

Paramount's Kings Adventures [RCT2]

How about offering up some ideas, instead of "I think something better could suffice." -
Posted to that thread... I'm going to get through page 35 tonight. I REALLY want 500 items up before Beta. Unless you want to go live before that. This has been a fun project, 1) because there's some seriously sweet NL stuff in the forum (wish I had NL), and 2) seeing some old members and how active they were is always a treat (good and bad).

4D coaster model
mcjaco replied to Jack Rimer's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
After watching the videos, I'm curious as to how the trains attach to the third rail. I think some close ups of the actual models would help. No worries, Ccron is very aware of his......shortcomings.....in completing projects. It's all a learning experience! -
Led Zeppelin Land [RCT2]

One, please make sure to read the Game Forum Etiquette Announcement (this goes for everyone, as I've been renaming A LOT of threads per those rules lately). Second, very nice! I think a water ride named "When the Levee Breaks" should be included! -

I don't think the words are harsh. Twister is simply wondering about the thought process, and it has some merits. The link posted also is a good reminder that what you post in other forums (like bashing the TPR member who posted their attempts at a 4D model) will eventually be seen by someone at TPR. New4D obviously has skills to create this, while someone much younger may not. Let's not forget that the average age in the Game Forum is around 17, if not younger. Of there's one thing I cannot stand, is those who sit on the sidelines and critique others attempts, while they do nothing. If someone is so knowledgable, then jump in and do it. -

I thought engineering students would know the first thing about gravity, is that you can't change it. No matter what scale. Ask Jack Rimer his thoughts on it. -
We're almost at five hundred items (up to 12 pages in Exchange). I'd like to get to that, which I think I could do by tonight. It's been roughly twenty items per Forum page.

Through Page 36.

Through page 38. Over 400 items now. Plan to get through another couple of pages by the end of the weekend.

Don't move the files anywhere. Download the zip files to your desktop. Then, right click, extract (or unzip), select Atari/RCT3/Style/Themed. Extract or unzip them into the Themed folder. -

The scenery isn't installed correctly. Make sure you Extract the files from the zip/rar into the Style/Themed folder. Don't Copy and Paste. It doesn't work.
