Worst Coaster Ever?
TConwell replied to Mind Eraser's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Ninja, SFOG. Simply, the worst I have been on in 10 years (except of course, The Roller Coaster in Vegas) ... it is just pain. Even at 5'11" and 220 lbs I could not brace myself enough to keep from the battering. Ugh. -
Knotts Berry Farms TR; November 22, 2005
TConwell replied to TConwell's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well duh ... especially since some may not be at other locales. Several times actually ... but what impressed me about this was not only the force, but the relative silence of this ride. I mean, you can barely hear the thing! But yeah, that cobra roll seems (and looks) much tighter since the last Batman I rode. Man, that silver train is a wreck! LOL!!! And I agree, back seat on Xcelerator ... too much fun. -
Pictures added ... Knotts Berry Farm – a practically empty park! I met up with WeeWeeSlap at about 10:30 (parking was apparently an issue for “Mr. Late” ... LOL), and we headed directly in. Since military got in for free and he had a season pass, we were in without delay. We headed to Ghostrider first and truly, this coaster is all it is cracked up to be. Of course, we went for a front seat ride and the 51 degree drop is everything you have heard about, not too mention the “tunnel effect” down the drop with the housing increases the appearance of speed and the drop has a nice bank to the left at the bottom, heading into a wonderful camelback with some serious airtime. Couple more hills and yanks and we were into the MCB, no trim at all. In dare say the drop following the MCB is truly a work of art, as well as the bunny hills through the structure and the final helix to the brakes. Yup, I do declare this is now my favorite wood. Next, we hit Silver Bullet and while the wait was a bit longer, it was more than worth it. Again, having a front seat ride we were treated to all the sights, including several times in the queue where WWS seemed oddly distracted and staring off into some jeans, errr, I mean into “space”. [lol] Silver bullet has some serious positive Gs throughout the ride and the overall confusion of the end (left turn cork into practically a 90 degree tight helix) is really awesome. The cobra roll on this coaster is really tight, and combined with the speed, wow. Following this there was no choice but to hit Xcelerator, and of course from the front seat – indeed a great place to ride this for the first time. Wow. The launch, air on the top hat, and the overall feeling of falling while descending down the top hat is really an intense experience. Couple of high speed heavily banked turns later we were on the magnets and that was that. Truly, the front seat is the place on this coaster … but I’ll talk about the back later. We headed to Montezooma’s Revenge (sorry, no pics) and this is pretty much like Greased Lightning at Astroworld. Launch into a loop that is about 4 Gs, up an incline, and then backwards through the station hitting an incline and back to the brakes. Very simple coaster, but honestly for some reason this one tore up my stomach more than anything else that day! [lol] So, here we are, all the big rides done … and about 1.25 hours till WWS had to bail for work … so, BACK to Ghostrider! This time we rode in the rear seat (gold train) and the airtime was just increased that much more. When we got off, we hopped back into the wheelchair entrance and got back onto the ride (empty queue, might as well save time). This time we got on the silver train, and man, what a rough ride in the back seat THAT was! Watching the cars in front of us, ouch, I am glad we were in the front on that earlier. These cars were all over the track!!! Now, neither one of us have small frames, and ya’ll we were tossed about like rag dolls! As a matter of fact, the drop after the MCB sent me a good foot off the seat … so much so the bar was mid thigh and the ONLY thing holding me in!! Good stuff for certain! We had about 30 minutes to kill so of course … back to Xcelerator for a rear seat ride. Man, talk about ejector air! WEEEEEEEE!!!! That 90 degree drop, man, I was totally out of my seat with hands in the air … fun stuff for sure! We headed for the exit, stopped off for some sodas and again, WWS was struck with this need to stare off into space … [lol] … too funny. We left from there; of course not before I got myself a Ghostrider ball cap … Heh, I had to have something for the day. Well, that is about it for me from Knotts Berry Farms. Cheers!

... and Gorilla Monsoon is calling the match. I cannot wait to see him again ... Raw was awesome last night -- truly, an amazing tribute to him. I agree, very tough to watch Chris Benoit, Dave Batista ... very sad indeed. I love ya Eddie, thanks for years of being the constant professional. Viva la rasa mi amigo! TJC

Random Photo TR: Steelers vs Ravens
TConwell replied to CoasterFanatic's topic in Random, Random, Random
LOL, I have the same Jersey ... and of course my Dad's family is from Coraopolis- so you can guess who I have pulled for my whole life! It was not a pretty win, but I will take it never-the-less! GO STEELERS!!! Great TR! Many thanks!! BTW -- I am going to see the Penguins and Thrashers on Jan 6th in Atlanta -- so I shall take some shots for those (diehard) Penguin fans (like me). -
Roger that CL ... no worries here. We are good.

Nah, no "uh-oh" needed. (And stop stiring (or attempting to stir) the pot) ... What I am saying here is why repeat what has already been said a million times on a million different boards already? Folks already know what will be said, so in an attempt to actually move the conversations forward ... I think "globally" most folks realize that rehashing the same thing is never going to help anything -- as a matter of fact, it creates more defensive barriers and mood swings that are unnecessary and quite frankly, very immature. ~ Pastor TJ "I shouldn't have to restate my view ... you know it already" Conwell

Sho 'nuff ....... besides, no need to quote what has already been quoted before --- not too mention those that could use to hear it, already have.

Exactly right Eric ... hang in there dude, you have support -- more than you may realize. ~TJ

Lemme echo what Mind has said man and add something I forgot to above. My wife is bipolar, so I have first hand experience of seeing the effects on the "other" side. PM me if you need anything man, even if it just a sounding board ... there is help available bud ... all you gotta do is ask.

I have family members with the same condition, and it is treatable. However, those who are not willing to take the proper steps to treat themselves ... well ... will wallow in this condition for life. There are more than 20 approved medications to assist, not too mention enough counseling to to choke a horse with. Get some help man, and remember -- ALWAYS REMEMBER THIS. If you are truly 19 years old as your profile says, GET OVER IT! OK? Honestly man, take it from someone almost twice as old as you, it ain't worth the hassle of trying to attribute this condition to a break-up with a chick. Stop enabling yourself to have excuses and treat the problem, NOT the symptom. Now, I ain't attacking ya man but I have lived through this at close interval and I know what I am saying. So, please do not get your panties in a wad and get all upset at me -- sometimes brutal honesty is the best wake-up call of all. You got lots of support here man, and if you really need to, you can even call me and I'll chat with ya. But, getting help face to face is always the best way. Let me know if I can assist ... ~ TJ "Yes I am serious and will gladly help you" Conwell

Thank you so much for posting this TR! I had planned on attending but got caught up with work and just could not break away to make the trip. Many thanks!!! -
My wife would be best able to answer this ...

I am here in Montgomery, Alabama and the town is going to do this up right for her. There is a museum already here in her honor (she moved away from here in the 60s due to several threats on her life) -- but my daughter has a field trip down there today so there may be lots of things to see. This city is one of the most historic I have lived in, and one thing is certain -- they ensure that history is remembered and very much alive -- not forgotten in text books for kids to read one day.

Ugly girl. Stoopid song. Explicit TPR footage...
TConwell replied to redunzelizer's topic in Ask Alvey
I am guessing that since the movie has vanished (dead link) ... well, especially since the mafia visit threatened to remove knee-caps for their, shall we say, proactive use of priviledged footage?? -
1990 ... dang I feel old! LOL!!!

Mind -- this is just a little levity for ya (and you need a warped sense of humor to bite into this one ...) Consider the little warnings on the side of the packs ... Surgeon General rants, etc. What if you saw this? Any wimp can quit smoking ... it takes a real man to handle lung cancer!! Anyway, quit man ... no sense in dying before ya need to. I'm in your corner man, unwaveringly. ~TJ

Best and Worst Organised Queues
TConwell replied to downunder's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Best: The Texas Giant - wide lane in, wide lane out. Plenty of room for sitting on the railings if the need arises, but let's stop the making out in line, eh? The kids don't need to learn any new techniques yet. Worst: Coney Island Cyclone. Back when I was a kid this was just rediculous to get in line. I rode when I was 8, and honestly, I have not come across a worse queue. It was meant to hold about 30 people ... and the rest was "general assembly" stuff. Ugh, I can still hear my grand-dad complaining about it.
