Your post is rather vague... could you be more specific? It'll come as little surprise I'm sure, but some parks like to keep certain details to themselves - like annual attendance etc... that's unless there is something to boast about, such as Holiday World (Santa Claus, Indiana) attracting 1m guests this year. Good for them! Read you soon Simon Baynham (UK)

Hi TPR Members I was browsing the www (as you do) and realised that I missed an ebay auction for a copy of National Geographic's SuperCoasters DVD. I cannot find the DVD for sale on the official Nat. G website or anywhere else for that matter. I was just wondering if any of you have an *official* copy that you'd be willing to sell. (Amazon don't have it either) Perhaps some of you might be in a position to forward details of how I might get hold of a couple of copies. Thanks for any information you might share Simon Baynham (England, UK)

"I'm gonna Die!"
Simon Baynham replied to 3rdShiftCM's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Star Flyer at Prater Park (Vienna, Austria) every time. When I got off that ride I wanted to kiss the ground. A truly frightening experience - however it is strangely addictive! Simon Baynham (UK) -

Andy Shine's Quiz Time
Simon Baynham replied to Simon Baynham's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hi TPR'ers. Well, you all did so well with the last coaster/park quiz, so I decided to upload 100 questions this time. See www.rollercoastermedialibrary.com and see the 'QUIZ' link at the bottom left corner. Can you score 100% without cheating? Your score/percentage will be displayed after the 100th question. That's assuming you can last the distance! It's only a bit of fun, and any errors are of my own making. Simon Baynham (UK) -
There are some great pictures of the Bobs and other Riverview rides in the book: "RIVERVIEW GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN." You can borrow the book for free from the roller coaster media library, failing that there are a couple of copies on eBay. A great book! Simon Baynham (UK)

Andy Shine's Quiz Time
Simon Baynham replied to Simon Baynham's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hi again TPR'ers I thought I'd resurect this old thread rather than start a new one. Similar to the 10 questions-quiz we (all) took part in a while back. I was thinking of doing it again on a larger scale... say 50 or 100 questions. Trouble is, thinking of suitable questions is surprisingly difficult... so perhaps TPR'ers could send a question or two to me at auis28@dsl.pipex.com The question needs to be 'correct' (of course) and you need to include an A,B,C,D/multiple choice option (remember to tell me which answer is correct) The question must be theme-park or rollercoaster oriented - either historical or current. Yes, the bottom line is I want TPR'ers to do all the work for me! I've thought of 20 questions myself - and already my fount of knowledge has run dry. Thanks for anything you might send Simon Baynham (UK) auis28@dsl.pipex.com -
Hi TPR. It's been a long time coming. 8 out of 24 new quizzes have been uploaded for you to try, with the remaining quizzes coming soon. A new feature allows players to enter their names/scores onto the scoreboard, and the quizzes are now limited to set times (so no Googling!) Have fun, and see if you can bag a GREAT score! http://rollercoastermedialibrary.com/ (Select "QUIZ PAGE") Simon A.S. Baynham

1980's Coaster Specials were Cheez-whiz...
Simon Baynham replied to Homer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have a few copies of the 1982 Wild Rides special with Matt Dillon... but for real cheezyness overload you need to check out the 1988 programme "ROLLERCOASTER THRILLS/GO FOR A RIDE." Yup! It's the one at SFMM with the ice-cream man! Pure brilliance! (See VHS1 & VHS4 at rollercoastermedialibrary.com) Don't you agree Mr Alvey? Simon Baynham (UK) -
Oh Wow! This topic is right up my street. Mmmm If I could go back in time I would visit Riverview Park, Euclid Beach Park, Idora Park, Meyer's Lake and Belle Vue (Manchester, England). I have video footage / DVDs of these parks and rides, and when I pop in a DVD I spend an hour or so wishing I could be there, then. (Everything looks better in B&W!) Simon Baynham (UK)

Amusement Park Items - for Cash!
Simon Baynham replied to Simon Baynham's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Also... does anyone know if Tim O'Brien is working on a 6th edition of his "Amusement Park Guide" series? Tim's books are reliable reference tools. An up-to-date sixth issue would be great. Read you all soon Simon Baynham (UK) -
Hi TPR members For three years at least, I have been browsing the usual Internet haunts: Amazon, Ebay and dedicated websites searching for a book and a VHS to add to my extensive collection. Do any TPRers happen to own... Book: "Meyer's Lake Park Remembered." by J.D. Brown. VHS: "IOA, The Adventure Comes Alive." If you own any of the above items, and would like to swap it/them for a fistful of Dollar bills, then please respond to this thread - or email me (address below) Thank you Simon Baynham (UK) auis28@dsl.pipex.com

If Traumatizer (SLC) goes to Pleasure Beach Blackpool, then where does that leave Pleasureland? (Southport) The beginning of the end maybe, what of the woodie (Cyclone) and wooden mouse (King Solomon's Mines). Perhaps the time is ripe for a new signature ride? Funny. Southport usually acquires Blackpool's cast-off attractions. But if Traumatizer makes it over to BPB, it'll be roles reversed! Simon Baynham (UK)

Parks Coasters and Rides in Movies and TV
Simon Baynham replied to spike's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Who can forget the best movie of them all! (sarcastic smile!) Anyone seen 'THRILL' filmed at Santa Cruz, and aboard the Giant Dipper. Also, 'THE DEATH OF OCEAN VIEW PARK' bad film... was the wooden coaster (that was blown up) called "The Rocket?" Read you all soon Simon Baynham (UK) -

Coaster Dynamix Model
Simon Baynham replied to pupkick's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hi TPRers. I bought the Coaster Dynamix model "Scorpion" off Ebay for £80. There is fun in constructing them and in tweaking them until they work. However, once mine was fine-tuned and working I quickly lost interest (3 weeks) and gave the model to a friend. It would have been nice to buy add-on packs to build a custom model, but after the novelty has worn off they become rather annoying as they take up a lot of room. Yes, your thumbs will ache for some considerable time after clicking all the track ties into place... but the effort is worth it. Read you all soon Simon Baynham (UK) -

Rollercoaster study
Simon Baynham replied to coaster mad's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
There's a few 'sciency' and 'educational' coaster DVDs in the Media Library. You could borrow a few titles (for free!) and base your case study on the programmes. DVD2 The physics of amusement park rides. (30 mins) DVD51 Rollercoaster physics (26 mins) DVD52 Designing thrill rides from start to finish (25 mins) There's more! Remember these are proper DVDs, not footage recorded off the tv... so they might be of some use to you! Simon Baynham (UK) -

You missed out the squirting elephant! That gets me with a face full of water every time! I really enjoy a ride on PBBs River Caves (Old Mill) but if you're a bloke, you feel a bit awkward going under the entrance arch with highly-visible illuminated sign reading, "TUNNEL OF LOVE" (Apparently it is 'traditional' to have this sign, but it embarrasses the hell out of me) Read you later Simon Baynham (UK) -

Rollercoaster study
Simon Baynham replied to coaster mad's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hi. Your case study could investigate the advantages and disadvantages of building from wood or steel. Indeed some coasters are built from both! Perhaps you could compare and contrast the two (or 4) different styles: cost to build / maintain, rideability, longevity, the overall experience and rider opinion. You could do a poll! (sound familiar) Simon Baynham (UK) -
There's the official Halloween Horror Nights DVD! Hard to come by, but there's a copy on the "Amusement Park & Roller Coaster Media Library" website! Check it out! Simon

Big Dipper at Chippewa Lake Park.
Simon Baynham replied to verticalzero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm not sure it is what you're after, but there are at least 3 books and a VHS about Chippewa Park. All can be borrowed (free) from The Amusement Park & Roller Coaster Media Library. Hope that helps Simon -

Star Flyers
Simon Baynham replied to verticalzero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Rode the one at Prater (Vienna, Austria) the other week. Star Flyers are great. Make sure you ride one at night/dusk, the ride becomes really quite scary. The phrase "A chain is only as strong as its weakest link" has never been more appropriate! Read you soon Simon Baynham (UK) -

Yes, I have bought many great things off ebay over the years... but these titles have not been listed for 2 years or more. The Cedar Point VHS did become available at one time. I was the winning bidder, but never received the goods! Simon Baynham
