Who would buy a piece of rusty track or ride car from a coaster that was dismantled improperly? The tracks from the former Batman coaster from Astroworld is better off getting getting melted down for tracks (Ala Drachen Fire from BGW) for Darien Lake's new coaster!
If they wanted to keep the go karts, they could put it in the parking lot, but if they don't want to keep Grizzly Run that would free up some coaster space!
The area leading up to the campground is a "dead end" with Twister and Motocoaster in the Darien Square pools, there's like nothing between Tin Lizzys and Motoccoaster. They could at least put a small family coaster in said area!
When they do get a new coaster the big question is what will be removed for it. Well in my opinion they could put where Grizzly Run is, where Predator is, where Galaxy Theater is (or in it!), or they could do a parking lot coaster and not remove anything for it!
What do you think, if Darien Lake were to get a new coaster where would they put it?
They could have just poured concrete over the campground pools and painted over the pool depths markings on the deck, so it would look like if the pools were never there.
An even better idea would be to put Motocoaster in Galaxy Theater and dig up the old campground pools and have a 46" height restriction on the coaster!
The Predator needs an overhaul for sure! As for Ride of Steel, the ride is begging for a new name and paint job that is totally unrelated to Superman. The Mind Eraser just need a new paint job and the mist to be back on it. On an unrelated note, the Barracuda Bay area needs some work like removing the end pool and que line for Floodgate Falls and putting a sun deck and a bathhouse there. The sea lion pool in front of Galaxy Theater should be removed as well if the sea lions aren't coming back to Darien Lake.
From what i'm hearing Darien Lake has lowered itself to the level of Martin's Fantasy Island except on a bigger scale with a hotel and an amphitheater on site!
Don't expect to see a Wing Rider, or a record-breaking thrill coaster for Darien Lake in 2014. They should add a coaster for the 46" and taller group like a Vekoma family suspended coaster with Arrow style trains or a Gerstlauer spinning coaster (with a custom layout).
