TPR 2012 Trip Questionnaire!
paulm12 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
LeviaTHON (almost a given) And New Hotness got my votes. Though whatever china leg that got the gci looks tempting as well. -
WTF!? I went on it (Deja Vu) yestarday several times and upon asking several staff, they said it wasn't going anywhere. Goddamit. Had the absolute craziest ride on GL too, up the lift my friend and I were facing the sky; after the mcbr (which it acts as a trim now) I had no idea what the hell happened. I was so dizzy after the ride, I had to use the handrail to keep from falling . Hella crazy. And of all the coaster types MM has, we still don't got no Wild Mouse. While I agree with whoever said MM needs long rides, I can't see where they could put any of these. Maybe a dive machine if they took out cyclone 500 and used the ground underneath Dive Devil as a place for tunnels, spanning across both cyclone 500's old space and the theater near Riddler's. Its a fact; SFMM needs more family and flat rides. But I think most of their business comes from extreme rides like X2. As much as Sharpe is fixing park 'image', he seems to be doing a good job balancing out the rides. And I'm still confused about the park map. They rate Ninja as 'thrill seekers in training' and gold rusher as 'moderate thrll seekers'. Also, it cracks me up to see Superman in the 'moderate thrill seekers' catagory. Its been in this catagory forever (AKA as long as I car remember), its just its description reads: Blast over 100 mph to the sky BACKWARDS 400 feet in the air.

paulm12 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Colossus Track 1 125 ft (38 m) Drop 115 ft (35 m) Length 4,325 ft (1,318 m) Max speed 62 mph (100 km/h) Colossus Track 2 125 ft (38 m) Drop 115 ft (35 m) Length 4,325 ft (1,318 m) Max speed 62 mph (100 km/h) In all seriousness, I cannot think of anything though. -

While I don't personally find Paul's comments that valid either, making pot shots about his weight and other childish comments isn't much better than those idiots who hate on TPR and post clueless comments like these. This will be the only warning. Comments like these, which are obvious flame bait, will not be tolerated on this forum. Lol I was about to get all defensive, then I noticed you weren't even talking about me! Back to the matter at hand, Can we please talk more about the ride (itself)? In terms of layout, speed, future designs. I think the whole "Leviathan is a new Behemoth" argument has been tired out. Finally, might I add that most of B&M's hyper design, while similar, are fitted to maximize space, not to bore you. Parks request this design (I'm speculating here) so they can eventually add new rides because of it's thin footprint, and because they know the design works and is reliable; kinda like why Batman and boomerang are cloned so much. Sticking to something familiar and adding 70' is a good move for B&M, as they're using a formula people like, they know works technically and financially (both initial and in the long run), and is obviously reliable. I think the problem here isn't about the ride not being original, its about the park having two similar coasters, both of which, I think are great. -

Maybe Six Flags and CF will come to a mutual agreement and put behemoth where Deja Vu is -

*caution, insane rant beginning in a few lines* Is it just me, or is anyone else confused about the bitching? I don't remember people bitching about MF as being a new Magnum! I know; the bitching is inevitable; people want a tall B&M, yet they complain about it too. Don't the few of you who complain understand?! Look at the big picture; its not about the coaster itself (which looks awesome BTW), its about B&M's progression. And TBH, this probably has more airtime than both Millenium Force and I305 combined! They're really different (This and behemoth), unless I'm blind. And the stats; who knows? Intimidator was announced with 75 MPH, and thats absolute bull. Writing this off as behemoth is like calling Tatsu/Superman: UF a different Batman. And what if CW wanted this layout!? What if they now how awesome Behemoth is (I know, parks don't care...) and decided to please fans by building an awesome new ride, and saving space with the out and back layout?! If anything, don't blame B&M about the layout! *rant has ended, continue reading* Alright; phew. After getting that off my chest, let's look at the ride more closely. Both #'s 4 and 7 seem like tiny overbanked OMFG ejector air spots. As for the hammerhead, I'm going to guess, according to the rendering, that that is banked about, oh, I'll throw out around 115 degrees. The renderings can be a little exaggerative (like park maps), but this looks pretty legit. Finally, while I know that this is CF, capacity looks pretty damn good! 3-32 passenger trains. And I'm sure many of us are aware of B&M's potential fast loading. Finally, we have no evidence of the drop's height. Could still be a record breaker. TBH, I'm really sad to see Deja Vu go (if it is leaving). In the report thing, they made it sound like a 'new ride', though like many others I am skeptical about whether they meant new as in 'new for the park'. As for new coasters, if Deja Vu was taken out, here are my thoughts: While a B&M Dive Machine would be legit (especially for California), I don't see them making that. If anything, magic mountain has been all about variety, and while a Dive Machine would be cool and different, the park does have a shortage of shuttle coasters. I'm not trying to take sides; a new B&M there would be great; but in all realism, they already have the most B&M's of any park in the world, besides SFGA. While I'm not a genius when it comes to amusement park ride strategies, I can guess what they may consider. If their goal is a new roller coaster, as I mentioned earlier, B&M would most likely not make it. In terms of new thrill roller coasters, what they really need is either an Intamin full circuit coaster, a Premier, Mack or even Vekoma launched (spaghetti bowl?), or a Geutslaur. I like B&M more than intamin, but in all realism, which is the park in need for? To me, Six Flags has always been a huge B&M consumer, while Cedar Fair a huge Intamin consumer. Cali seems absolutely devoid of Geutslaur BTW, and for the state with the most roller coasters, Cali has minimal Intamins. (4, with only two topping 2,000 feet). Just my 2 cents. Finally, while I know 99% of people on here want a new thrill coaster, Sharpe IS in charge and Roller Coasters are the one thing, if any, Magic Mountain excels at. Peace. P.S. As for the space becoming a drop tower; first off, why on the edge of the park? Drop towers are awesome when you see the whole park; I.E. the middle. Second of all, The sides of both the sky tower and even superman would make good locations, why pay for a totally new tower? (Oh shoot, I forgot superman was taken for that launched strata with superman's tower supporting the top hat; damm)

I can see this ride having over banked turns and helixes; behemoth is an airtime machine, seems like cf would want a bit of variety for canadas wonderland. Right now, I really don't know what to think; B&Ms been going out on a wing (har, har) lately, and this is totally new. For all I know, it could be an inverted giga with no inverions and a lot of turns. Or it could be a really awesome dive machine. I know that the track is correlative to the ride's style, but this just feels so new...they may pull a fast one. My question is, whether this ride is launched nor whether it breaks the 300' mark, what has changed b&m so drastically in the last year? Think about it...in just the last few months we've seen more new stuff from b&m than most years. (in case you were wondering, I'm talking about their dive lite at heide park, while not a huge leap it is new, Starry night ripper, The swarm and x-raptor, Hair raiser for the unique layout, whatever the hell the lucky bastards at parc astrix are getting with their invert with the dive loop and the wtf drop, and now this) What's going on? -

What. The. F*ck. Seriously; while the rest of us were waiting to hear about b&ms launched / 4d coaster, they pulled the rug out. Way to go, b&m, you guys are boss. -
What Rides Scares the Crud Out Of You?
paulm12 replied to EuroTre's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think most new coasters (big ones) scare me my first time, or if I haven't been on them in a while. X2 in particular. They're fun, just anticipating the ride is nerve racking. Tatsu had me pretty scared my first time aswell, I remember looking at the pretzel-lookin thing halfway during the ride, thinking "Headfirst?!-How the hell is this going to work out?" Xcellerator aswell, sitting in a car, watching the lights go down before the launch-whew! -

Holy sh!t, that IS a steep drop; I was expecting steep, but not that steep. This looks like it'll be good. B&M has been taking a lot more risks lately, first with starry night ripper, then X-Raptor, and now with this. -
I absolutely agree. Rides like Silver Bullet, Tatsu, Kraken, and Apollo's Chariot are so smooth, the occasional 'jolt' or 'rattle' has some of us passing off otherwise great rides as rough (I've even heard people consider B&M's own Riddler's rough; I mean we're all entitled to out own opinion, but still, WTF) Thanks for spoiling us B&M .

Wow, this is exciting! Way to go GCI! Are you sure the length is in feet though? Only 1,500 feet with a top speed of 62 MPH seems wierd to me. If it was 1050 METERS, It would approxomate to around 3,444 feet long. which makes more sense IMHO. -
Most Overrated coaster?
paulm12 replied to BlackWidow's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
For me its X2 and Ghost Rider. X2 is a great ride, don't get me wrong, its just the ride feels too short to wait 3hrs in line for, breaks down a lot, and its pretty rough towards the end of the ride. Regardless, the drop is great, and it is neat for a prototype. I'm not sure exactly how GhostRider is ranked, or if it is hyped up a lot. I've heard its smooth (which is bullsh*t BTW), and filled with airtime, but it was way too rough to even be fun at all. For lines at Knotts, it averages about 90 min. compared to the occasional 20 on Silver Bullet (Which, IMO is underrated). -

Holy crap it looks like a Lazy-G-Roll. Looks intense and fun, but still. Looks like this one element I downloaded for NL, always called a IOTH (Inside-Out Top Hat). If you think about it, the 2nd one is like the first one bending over tho. CAT (Crazy @$$ turnover) I'm not writing what the acronym is (Super High Inverting Twist) *ATF (Acid Trip Flip)*HALT HAFR (High as F-)never mind... And what's up with that non inverting/ half inverting cobra roll...now Naming it... Shoehorn was cool, so was Banana roll. Maybe CobraBankedTurn/Roll. Looks more like a banana split though due to its both sides... "Horny" inversion nonetheless was also excellent
