  1. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our last two visits were weekdays in July and I found the crowds very manageable. I think the longest lines at the time we for the newest coasters (Millenium and Wicked Twister) and we got around that by having early entry due to staying at their value resort, Breakers Express. Shari "I love CP" Shoufler
  2. OK, OK.... That's my park you are dissing here folks.... Only I get to say bad things about PKI Seriously, though.... I am disappointed that so many of you feel that way (especially, you Elissa!), but I also think that there are valid reasons why some of us love the park and some don't. For me, it's because it is my home park and I have been going there since the year it opened. As such, I remember life before Paramount..... It was a much nicer park back then. Plus, since we literally live 10 minutes from the front gate, we go on days and times when crowds are not an issue. However, I can understand the crowd comment because, IMO, as they have removed more and more attractions (rides and shows) over the years, and failed to replace them with anything, it means there is less places for people to go. However, the waterpark expansion last year really made a difference and there were a lot of days where the waterpark was more crowded than the "main park". I just think they have failed to keep up the park to the standards that it should. ie. I rode Drop Zone for the first time last summer, and halfway up the tower realized the "ring" was not rotating. Now that is supposed to be the big, cool feature to that ride, and it doesn't work! Shari "I miss the days when the park was locally owned" Shoufler
  3. Did anyone else watch "Paula Deen's Wedding?" I don't know that I have ever really watched her show, but I had seen her on the Thanksgiving special with all the chefs. Wow.. She is really a classy, southern lady and her wedding was so beautiful and tasteful and SOUTHERN. Now, I am watching her show, and the other day she did this tribute to Elvis with a Cheeseburger Meatloaf and these new potatoes coated in cornflakes....mmmm Shari "I wish I were a southern belle" Shoufler
  4. You know, they just crack me up!! He really does have the "Godfather" thing going to for him just like on "Survivor". I get the feeling people in South America must watch "Survivor" though, and definitely know who they are. Do you really think Debbie and Bianca were lesbians???? :? Shari "I could not have eaten that crap...Good move Rob" Shoufler
  5. So there's a split vote in the Alvey household on this one... I pretty much like any kind of coaster so long as it doesn't beat the crap out of my head, so I am sure I will like this ride. My biggest issue-and one I have read on another coaster forum a while back (CoasterBuzz) is whether or not PKI will keep the special effects operating. Shari "I'll tell you all about it once it opens" Shoufler
  6. Whatever. Guess that's why there are hundreds of different programs on tv, so we can all choose to watch what appeals to us. Personally, Trump's hair scares me. Shari "The tribe has spoken" Shoufler
  7. You mean well when you make this point, but the reality is, my eating a Big Mac and Super-sized fries every day for lunch isn't going to cause you to have have a heart attack. That said, the short term exposure that someone such as myself would receive standing next to smoker in line for a funnel cake, probably isn't going to cause me to get cancer. But, for those of us who don't like the smell and taste of someone's cigarette smoke, or who are concerned about the potential effects of secondhand smoke, I think the smoking sections are a great idea (again, so long as they are enforced, which, knowing PKI, they won't be) Shari "I'll check it out on Opening Weekend and let you know" Shoufler
  8. Although it suprises some people, we do have earthquakes here in the midwest. Once, about 20 years ago, I had just picked my car up from having it serviced. It was an old, '76 or '78 Pontiac Sunbird, and I was having a problem with it every other day, or so it seemed. So, anyway, I am sitting in the driveway of my house and the car wouldn't start, even tho' I had just gotten it fixed. I slammed my hands on the steering wheel and the next thing I knew the whole car starts shaking, I could hear and feel the gas running back and forth through the tank, I thought the car was going to explode. I jumped out and went screaming to my mom and my neighbor, who were looking at me like I was crazy, because they were in their houses and didn't feel it. About two minutes later, my nieces and nephews, who lived down the street, came running down yelling "Did you feel the earthquake?" Shari "Thank God I wasn't crazy" Shoufler
  9. She doesn't have to wait... they are taking applications for a family version right now... families of four, so long as you are all related and the age limit is 8 not 18!!! Shari "I am thinking about recruiting some of my family to send in a tape" Shoufler
  10. AWW..... Zaney, I thought your photo was really original... I didn't find it disturbing at all. Not nearly as bad as that person who has the cartoon where it looks like the little stick guy rips the other little stick guy's stomach out and puts the bloody stomach on his head. Now THAT disturbs me!!! Shari "Mine has my Castle" Shoufler
  11. Happy Birthday Elissa from Shari and Sammi!!!
  12. I am assuming we are talking about scripted shows (as opposed to reality tv) so I would have to say a dead even tie between CSI (the original) and Desperate Housewives. Although, right now I would have to say that I am probably more obsessed with DH. Can't miss it-period. Shari "personally, I am a combination of Bree, Lynette and Susan, but I wish I were Gabrielle" Shoufler
  13. Really??? I've NEVER seen the WDW/MK fireworks without Tinkerbelle's flight. Shari
  14. WDW Magic Kingdom.... When Tink appears in the tower window, somebody'd better hand me a hankie. My little girl refused to believe me when I told her the real Tinkerbelle was going to fly. I wish you all could have seen her face. I also love Fantasmic and Illuminations! Shari "can hear the PKI fireworks from my house" Shoufler
  15. I LOVED the cake!!!! Shari "I also love houses where people put like 10,000 plastic Christmas decorations, but then I bet you guessed that about me" Shoufler
  16. Eh, not finding those brothers all that interesting.... Personally, my favorites are the old couple, the gay couple and the "love to hate them" reality tv couple (aka Boston Rob and Am-buh). Shari "thank God we got a DVR" Shoufler
  17. I still LOVE Survivor, and, as a matter of fact, just watched last night's episode sitting at a table with two of the last three winners (Sandra and Chris)! How cool is that? Shari "OK, it's only cool if you are as big a Survivor fan as I am" Shoufler
  18. ^ I agree with you-for the most part-..... I still can't figure out how Ruben won season 2, and even though he supposedly is doing well on like the R&B charts and such, I can't see him having the overall appeal in the long term that Kelly is probably going to have. Same with Fantasia. Which brings me to my point... they (Simon, Paula, Randy, Seacrest) keep saying that they are looking for a "pop star"...OK... Kelly is singing POP songs. She's on the Billboard top 40, that's pop. Clay is singing more adult contemporary and I am pretty sure that Fantasia and Ruben are going more for the R&B. Looking at the front runners (Carrie, Bo, Nadia) I really don't see them fitting into the "pop" genre either. There are several of the past years finalists who are doing well with songs in other markets (ie Josh Gracin, he's had a couple of country hits). I think there are going to be many music careers come out of American Idol, but not necessarily pop star careers. Shari "I still like the pink haired girl from season 1" Shoufler
  19. Am I the only one who thinks the POW and the Beauty Queen are the most annoying? I can't see him as a soldier... for God's sake it took them two trips to move those books.... Shari "I hope they get eliminated soon" Shoufler
  20. Yeah!!! Someone who actually likes our pizza!!! (Although you can get it cheaper, and better variety, going 10 minutes up the road to the closest LaRosa's restaurant!) Shari "My Illinois-native husband hates my LaRosa's pizza" Shoufler
  21. Wasn't there a similar exhibition out in CA this past year? Either LA or SF, I think. I seemed both creepy and pretty amazing. Shari "although I would probably puke when I got there to see it" Shoufler
  22. Ok... that one took me a minute, then I got it.... duh! Seriously, though, what does everybody think of the top 12 (ok, those of you who actually care!) I was truly surprised at Scott and Mikalah, given that there were "better looking" more "mainstream" people (Travis and Amanda) in the bottom three with them. I could not have been happier because I really like both of them, and as I said in a previous post think that Mikalah has a great shot a career just based on the fact she could become an actress and play Fran Drescher's daughter ("The Nanny" reunion show!!! LOL) She's just a cutie. And didn't everybody have a guy like Scott in their high school? Not real good looking, kind of awkward, but really sweet and talented? I don't expect either of them to win, but then again, I think it's all about who's doing the voting...... Shari "always roots for the underdog" Shoufler
  23. That looks like so much fun... I have always wanted to go there! It's Wysteria Lane!!! How cool! Robb... what did you used to do for Disney, besides wear that Alpine costume and hang out with the Yeti?? Shari "Someday I will get there" Shoufler
  24. I know there are those who would disagree, but I have NEVER, EVER had a bad meal at WDW. I have been there 9 times and from counter service to sit-down and buffets, I have always found the food to be as good or better than you would get a restaurant in the "outside" world. It's pricey but usually plentiful! I also loved the buffet restaurant at Dollywood. For the most part, I think every park has some decent food-the real issue I tend to have is price vs quantity. I have spent as much as $20 for lunch for my 6 year old and I at PKI, and that's crazy! When they charge you .89 for a cup of cheese to dip your fries in, etc.... Shari "And I love to eat as much as I love to ride rides" Shoufler
  25. I think they are pretty much celebrating Disneyland's 50th like they did the 100th birthday of Walt Disney back in '01. They have special events, new attractions, etc at all their parks around the world! On a similar subject, I read today that the new Hong Kong Disneyland resort has already received 10,000 hotel reservations! http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=509&ncid=509&e=28&u=/ap/20050309/ap_on_bi_ge/hong_kong_disneyland Shari "all these parks and I'm not going to any of them " Shoufler
