Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
sfgamguy replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm going to Cedar Point next Sunday to Tuesday with my dad. We both will ride everything in the park and are planning on going on as many rides as we can, this will also be my first time on Millennium Force and TTD so I'm pumped! So what I'm wondering is what will wait times be like for rides like MF, Maverick, TTD and Windseeker? We have the option to go all day Sunday, and Monday, and the morning on tuesday. Or, Sunday night, Monday and Tuesday morning. Will we want the full day? Will it be really crowded? -
Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said

At Sfgam: Girl: "Does that one loop?" (Pointing to RB) Me: " No" My Friend: "Yeah it does" (After we just went on it) Me: "Oh really, where? Could you show me" My Friend: (Looks at track and points to turnaround) Me: *facepalm* At Soccer practice: Kid: "Hey did you hear there building a new rollercoaster at six flags great america?" Me: "No (This was early June) Kid: Yeah there taking out American Eagle and building Kingda Ka in its spot" Me: *facepalms* No there not. Then him and another person try to convince me that they really are. *double facepalm* Also with the new Rumors at Sfgam many people have been putting in there expert opinions such as; "I hope it's an Interim" (Intamin) "Iron wolf was going to go for Superman right after the Wizzard" And the many comments including: 1. Why don't we have rides like Cedar Point! 2. American Eagle can't leave! 3. When are we getting Chang? -

Thats Amazing! But honestly, I wouldn't expect any diffrent from you, I hope you finish in time. -
^&^^^ Yes, Superman has been down since the storm, and yesterday, wednesday, there were cranes working on the motor, also parts of the station roof must have blown off in the storm because its missing. Also, Monday while I was on the log flume Raging Bull got stuck at the very top of the lift hill, and was there for quite some time, I'm not sure what was going because I had to leave, but I could see workers walking up and down the lift hill.

The combination of the SLC and Villain at Geuagua Lake back in 2007! That was a back breaker mixed with a concussion! Luckily, I had the smooth Dominator to cure my pains.

^&^^ It's actually based of the Carolina Cyclone which was built in 1980, but yes this style of an Arrow Looper supports the corkscrews like that. -

This is great! May I place a request? If you could do a tutorial for a Calypso or a Himalaya that would be amazing. -

On a video of Silver Bullet some said, "WTF this is a copy of tatsu!" -____- smh *facepalm* -
^^^&^^^^ If you come at opening Superman fills up instantly and usually is full for the rest of the day, depending on the crowds. Also if you don't care about superman and want to get in V2 before that line gets to big, go to V2 as it opens and you should get on it quick. I usually skip Superman and Dark Knight and head to Yankee Harbor, hit V2 then Batman and then go to the back of the park which is usually empty for the first half-hour or more. Then hit Giant Drop and the Bull, there lines move quickly. It should be around 11:30 (when it works right) or 12ish' by the time you done. Then i'd say wait for lunch for a bit because everyone will leave the rides for lunch. I'd also recommend leaving the park for lunch and tailgating or crossing the street to Burger King, Subway, Jimmy Johns, or Mama K's (Great Frozen Yogurt). Then I head back into the park pick up other rides or go to Hurricane Harbor, crowded but the slides are great fun.

I came back to the park today to find this... Coming Soon.bmp The Dip'n'Dots guy says that it will be a whole new themed area, so much for picnicking at the park? --------------------------------------- I'd first like to clarify that all the work shown so far has been done by Goliath, future work on this park will be done by me. Also because this is a timeline park, that is already at 2011, the years may be packed with attractions. Let the bashing begin...! In 2012.......meet a horse which seeks wind.

May 27th, 2011 Today I came to the park for my first visit of the season. I went on my usual path, counter-clockwise around the park, when suddenly I noticed this. Thunderbolt Closing.bmp Of course I was confused - because the park had often referenced wanting to have more roller coasters, so why would they tear one down, especially a favorite such as Thunderbolt? I kept on my usual route, and I knew it was a 'Cedar Fair day', when I saw that my favorite water ride was also closing. Best Water Ride Closed.bmp The local Dippin' Dots guy mentioned to me that the park's manager, Dick "Cedar" Clark had mentioned in a press conference that 2012 would be a big year for the park. Dick said, "The park is really turning a new leaf and we want to make ourselves the best we can be." The Dippin' Dots guy also mentioned something about a Horse and a Mule... ------------ June 3rd, 2011 I came back to the park to see more disappointing things. Tear Her Down.bmp Geez, they got working on this quick. Replaced by Chairs.bmp At least its not trash cans. Another Coaster Closed.bmp And yet another coaster closed, so much for being like Cedar Point. Well I'll keep you updated on the park. -John Smith ---------------------------------------- Hello, do you remember this park? Two Things: 1. This probably won't be as entertaining, but I'm trying. 2. I asked permission before I began this, so there's no confusion. A.J. says: Please run your text through a spelling/grammar check before you post. Microsoft Word has a great built-in grammar-checker. Thanks!

Season TR: Six Flags Great America
sfgamguy replied to sfgamguy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Trip #2: 6/6/11 Today, I headed over to park for another short visit. First we hit Raging Bull back row = Giant Drop broke down on us in line, then the same thing happened in line for the Eagle! Ugh. Everything looked pretty croweded except southwest Territory and Hometown Square so that were we spent most of our time. Took a mellow ride on the Viper, and Whizzer. Finally got on Giant Drop after it broke down again. With all the heat we were pretty much dying so we took a few rides on Sky Trek Tower and Columbia Carosel, drank alot of shot sized cups of water and headed out. Ride ops were very friendly, no "GP" problems led to a very nice and calm, but hot, day at Six Flags. The whole day we envyed the people at Hurricane Habor. Got a few shots of Riptide Bay and the park fro Sky Trek Tower, they will be uploaded very soon. Ride Count: Raging Bull Giant Drop Viper Whizzer Rue Le Dodge (My friend had never done Bumper Cars before) Columbia Carosel Sky Trek Tower *all one time Also a little juicy insider for you all. A family friend of ours works for the Village of Gurnee. He is an engineer and is about the 2nd or 3rd highest status wise. Part of the village's job is to approve for the building of new rides at six flags. He said "Six Flags will be building a new roller coaster, consturction should start early fall" He said it would be a big coaster and he was sure of its location. Now I don't know what he means by big, it could be Green Lantern big, or Raging Bull big, I'm also asuming its going where Slashwater falls was....Let the specutlation begin....
