  1. LOL!!! Way to go Ferrari World! Seriously, what are some of these businessmen thinking sometimes??!
  2. ^Exactly. Magic Mountain already explained the rides planned operations when they announced the rides opening date. Any other source claiming differently should be taken as a grain of salt until the park officially says it. As far as capacity, I can't imagine how long the line would be for the backwards side if only 1 side was operating that way.
  3. Regarding the color of the train - have you guys thought that maybe one side will have a blue car, and the other will have a red? I think that'd be sweet! To go that high the ride definitely has to be hitting over 90 now. I'd say it's going more in the 95 - 100 MPH range, and lets hope it stays that way. The ride looks SO GOOD getting so close to the brakes, just like it was originally designed to! In the past decade or so when Superman: The Escape tested each morning, it did go higher up the tower empty than with people in the car, but it still only went about 4 "sections" below the brakes. This train is going MUCH higher than I've seen it in the past 10-12 years, as I haven't seen a train go that high since the ride was open for season pass-holders in 1997. But as Robb said the ride is only testing, who knows how it will run once opened. However, I think it's a good sign that they're actually getting the ride up that high now, especially if they can do it consistently. The problem was never that the ride couldn't go that fast, it was that it couldn't consistently go that fast without shutting down every 2-3 cycles. This question has been answered before, and the answer was that the ride will still sound the same. The sound you're hearing is the lateral bogeys rubbing up against the rail in the center of the track. Because of its unique desing, the ride allows VERY MINIMAL lateral movement because of the LSMs tight fit between the cars magnets, and therefore has has bogeys with metal wheels rubbing up against that center metal rail to restrict the amount of lateral "play" over time as cycle numbers increase. It has nothing to do with the ride wheels, upstop wheels, or car design.
  4. I believe that's used to get the cars off the transfer track when they're being refurbished. Maintenance puts a wheel and pulley assembly on it, and they disconnect each each car of the train off one by one. From there they lower the car to ground level. If you look at other B&M floorless/hyper designs, you'll see they have them too. For example I know Scream at Magic Mountain has one.
  5. ^What?! I would never wait a line that long for Riddlers...it would be SO SLOW! I dunno, I had a pretty good ride on it a couple weeks ago in the very front seat. It's no Tatsu or anything, but it seems to be running pretty well. The loop is awesome and both the helixes are fun as well - especially the one after the loop.
  6. I think it looks great and the tagline is growing on me! Great job!
  7. Yeah, there's photos of it too somewhere. I've seen it before. However, I've also seen photos of people doing it even with the OTSR's, so it's still very possible as the restraints on Revolution are very awkward. I'm guessing even though you can still do it, they installed the OTSR's to sort of discourage the thought of even trying.
  8. I like the logo, but I think the tagline is cheesy and could be a lot better. Holey smokes it's been changed! I saw it happen before my eyes!
  9. Not a bad logo, it could be worse. But I think the ride should just be called Superman to be honest. As for the restraints on Revolution, there is no law and they could certainly be updated to have only lap bars. But the park hasn't ever, and probably never will, be willing to pay to retrofit them just for the issue of rider comfort or to please the enthusiasts. I know, the ride would be much better and you wouldn't risk whacking your ears. But they've got bigger fish to fry.
  10. ^Sadly, it sounds like more than just Robb has had a bad day at the park as other people have given their reviews of the park as of late, and yours truly was there the 28th of December and had very similar experiences. So without a doubt the park is running subpar right now, lets just hope it's a pattern of bad days because of the off season. I can't imagine how miserable a day at the park would be mid-summer if it was run how the park was run on my visit.
  11. ^Yes of course, and I agree. But the park has been talking about the Sky Cabin and it sounds like it's probably going to operate again in the near future. Who knows if any of this is true, I'll believe it when I see it. But they have removed the K from the top of Windseeker in the newer promotional photos, which may mean the Sky Cabin and K on top of it is there to stay for the long term. First of all, no reason to get snappy. I don't just make stuff up to be dramatic. Second of all, reading can explain A LOT if you decide to pay attention. http://ocresort.ocregister.com/2011/01/07/work-begins-on-new-knotts-ride/66222/ "Gahagan said the site works because the ride doesn’t open up to its maximum circumference of 110 feet until it rises 300 feet into the air — well above the roller coaster tracks surrounding its base."
  12. ^It just seems that if they can squeeze the attraction into an area of the park where surrounding coasters already exist, they could most certainly find a way to surround the tower in the Sky Cabin location with a new coaster that hasn't even been built. Remember, the only reason this location works is because the swings aren't at full spread and speed until the gondola rises above the surrounding attractions and Silver Bullet (which is 150 feet tall). It would be the same in the Sky Cabin location, too.
  13. How would it be any easier having the new coaster snake around the Sky Cabin instead of Windseeker? Seems the two are quite similar in diameter. Fiesta Village is going to be a disaster during Haunt when this thing opens, that area of the park gets pretty crowded as it is. I don't like the location at all.
  14. It seems SFMM simply can't hold their employees accountable for the lackluster performances in regards to efficiently operating the coasters--especially ones like Riddler and Tatsu. There aren't enough employees there that care, and when the supervisors aren't around, they shift into slow-mode regarding checking restraints and dispatches. I have even heard the GP on several of my Tatsu rides yell "This is the worst part of the ride!" when they've been laying on their stomach on the block brakes for 3-5 minutes waiting to get back to the station. There's just so much going on in the park, and the infrastructure of employees makes it nearly impossible for those in charge to make sure the ones below them are doing their jobs. No camera's in the station, nobody watching the people operating the rides making sure they're doing their jobs. The employees in charge go on power trips regarding guests, and must think it's cool to make people wait on you because there's nothing they can do about it. I'll never understand requiring people to stand and watch a 10 minute preshow while empty trains are rolling by. And I can't even count how many times it looks like every employee in the station is standing around doing nothing, and the train in the station is doing nothing, and the train that's stacked behind it isn't doing anything either. Then you look at the ride operator on dispatch, and they're talking to 2-3 other employees that are standing around doing nothing either! One thing you can credit the park about though -- except for the death in 1978 on Colossus, no guest deaths on the parks roller coasters have been a result of ride operator negligence, which is a pretty amazing record if you think about it.
  15. The park seriously looks like it's falling apart and getting worse. Thomas Town closed, lame cardboard Apocalypse signs just put over the original signs, ride closures, ride removals, trashcans with barf all over them, late ride openings, poor ride operations and the soon destruction of a once peaceful Gotham park. Ugh, how embarrassing. Hopefully it's all uphill from here, but for some reason I don't think it's going to be...
  16. You mean Disney would have laid out and planned all the options and picked the one that would provide them with the least amount of lost revenue? No way! Either way, I'm sure the suggestions being brought up on here about the park are MUCH better options! /sarcasm
  17. I'm sure the company knows which prices will maximize the number of people in the park while still making substantial revenue off the sale of passes, and as we've learned, the park makes the most money off people that spend in the park, not the one time sale of a season ticket.
  18. I'm an adult, but thanks. No, the passes purchased at Magic Mountain have always allowed free parking with an Xtreme Pass at any of the other parks in the chain. I have had them from 2007 I believe, and even my 2010 one allows it. In 2011, this is sadly no longer true.
  19. I'm pretty sure they're moving about as fast as they can whether or not guests are in the park. Imagine the amount of unhappy customers and revenue loss if they closed DCA for the majority of construction. I like the Golden Gate bridge in DCA and wish it would stay, I don't find the new entrance to be much of an improvement. Very average for a Disney park IMO. Finally saw WoC in person and enjoyed it for the first 10 minutes, but wasn't very impressed. You could never tell what the images on the water screen were, and that was annoying. I don't know what's wrong with this park, and I have a feeling after all of these improvements it will feel pretty average then as well. But we'll see!
  20. ^Why not? I enjoy going to the park during the offseason. Next thing you know you guys are going to start complaining that Xtreme Play Pass prices are too low and should be raised! Oh wait...
  21. It's pretty much been raining constantly since Wednesday night all over Southern California, so I'm not surprised they closed the park today. And looking at the 5 day forecast it doesn't look like it's going to give up any time soon. I'm almost certain no guests would show up to the park anyway.
  22. Depends who's riding it. For me the outside seats are only bad in the last raven turn, and that's not every time I ride, it's very hit and miss. Other than that when I ride on the outside seats they don't shake like they used to, and the ride is practically the same as being on the inside.
  23. ^Budgets. I don't think anyone should work Christmas day, or at least be obligated to. Christmas Eve is another thing, but I'm glad the employees at Magic Mountain get the two days off.
