  1. 1980 We are about halfway through the season and we're beginning to think about next year. I regret to announce that Sky Wheel will not be returning next season. While it's a loved attraction here at Charleston Gardens Amusement Park, the high costs of maintenance on the ride is too high for the ride to continue operation. Next year we will be building off of the Gully Gulch theme that was introduced with Gully River Rapids this year. Have a great evening! - Joseph Reynolds
  2. ^ I haven't really decided yet. I think I'm going to take a step back from RCT and just work on whichever one I want, depending on what "rct3 mood" I'm in.
  3. Hello, my name is Allison Caldwell and I am the new Public Relations chair for Hershey Entertainment's Hawaii division. I will be sending you information on the dramatic changes that will taking place in Honolulu over the next few months. I'll address some of the most frequently asked questions: ZooAmerica will be closing at the end of the month. Plans are already underway to send some of the animals to the Honolulu zoo while the rest will move to ZooAmerica at Hersheypark in Pennsylvania. Marriott and Hershey have reached a deal that will allow Hershey to retake ownership of the hotel by the end of this year. The indoor waterpark will also close this month. The building that houses the waterpark will become Phase I of the Hershey Hawaii Project. Phase I will include a mixed indoor retail and entertainment center. Please stay tuned as more information is released.
  4. 1980 Our sixth season is well underway and it's great to see how huge of a success Gully River Rapids has been! Families seem to love seeing their loved ones get soaked across from them as they careen over a waterfall! I hope you have a great day! - Joseph Reynolds A look inside Gully River Rapids large yet simple loading station. A view of Gully River Rapids from the queue line. Guly River Rapids' lifthill comes at the end. As you are waiting, you can get a glimpse of your fellow riders as they return a little wetter than when they first departed. See you at the park!
  5. The future is here. It's time to bring innovation to Hawaii.
  6. I wonder what the park would be like today had Gaylord not closed the park...
  7. 1980 Welcome to our sixth season of operation at Charleston Gardens Amusement Park! While the park was open to some yesterday for Gully River Rapids preview day, it wasn't quite right with the other attractions closed. Enjoy your day at the park! Last season's addition, Heatwave, stands tall over Atlantic Avenue. Heatwave at Charleston Gardens Amusement Park Non riders can get a glimpse at Gully River Rapids via this observation platform. A raft prepares the Gully Gulch Tunnel. Gully River Rapids station. More guests enter the queue as dusk draws near. I'd say it was a very successful first day. It's great to be open again! - Michael May
  8. 1980 Today was Gully River Rapids' preview day. Season pass holders and members of the media were invited to the park to test out the new attraction. The park will officially open tomorrow. The weather is great and it's looking to continue over the weekend. New signage and fresh paint don the entrance plaza buildings. Gully River Rapids' station stands tall over "Gully Gulch". We decided to offer lockers so that guests could secure their valuables because getting drenched on this ride is a guarantee! Those who choose to take a journey down Gully River will pass through numerous rock formations and even a tunnel! Watch out for the waterfall, it's a doozy! A guest enters the Gully River Rapids queue dry. This must be his first time to ride! Gully River Rapids is even more exciting to ride at night. You won't be quite sure which direction the water's coming from! I hope to see you tomorrow at the grand opening!
  9. I'm going to the park this weekend but rain is called for until Thursday - has this ever happened twice in one year?
  10. Voodoo Village is nearing completion and is on track for a Halloween release. I am considering having a premier party Thursday night, October 30, but nothing is set in stone. I will release the movie at midnight. This movie is different from any movie I've ever made. I'm experiencing with different music, different editing styles, and different dialogue (you'll see what I mean when you watch the movie).
  11. GOOGLE: VOODOO VILLAGE MEMPHIS They warned us not to trespass. They say the Memphis Police Department once arrested the Chief and placed him in custody. That night the Chief mysteriously vanished into thin air... never to be seen again.
  12. 1980 Gully River Rapids at Charleston Gardens Amusement Park is the perfect ride to bring the famliy closer together! After exiting a dark tunnel, riders will plummet down a waterfall. A trip back up the mountain concludes your journey through Gully River Rapids! See you this season at Charleston Gardens Amusement Park!
  13. Here is a photo of a white Sky Trek back in late July:
  14. 1979 This concept drawing was placed on my desk this morning with a note attached that read "Do with this as you please." Take what you want from it! - Joseph Reynolds
  15. 1979 Hello! It's the later part of the season... these hot sticky late-July days seem to be the longest of the year. The guests are cranky as are the employees. But thankfully we have some activity going on in the park that's keeping everyone on their toes. - Joseph Reynolds Wait a moment, this isn't the photograph you were looking for! Ah, that's better. This large plot of land will soon be home to a rather large attraction. Unfortunately we will be removing these restroom facilities to make way for the ride's entrance. Stay tuned!
  16. Voodoo Village is coming Halloween 2009 Learn about the actual Voodoo Village:
  17. I've heard from "sources" up in the Gurnee area that Whizzer is not leaving for this new ride, which is Chang. While nothing is for certain, they've been spot-on in previous years.
  18. Interesting, an SLC and a BTR all in one park. I guess anything is possible now! It's good to see an Astroworld ride coming back to life.
  19. There was a road into the park that was completely open and unrestricted. I didn't realize I would get into the actual park, but my curiosity got the best of me.
  20. It's been four years since Libertyland closed it's doors. That's hard to believe. Since then, I've been stopping by the park every once-in-a-while to see how everything is holding up. This visit was like no other. You can view all of the pictures here: http://www.coaster101.com/2009/09/19/libertyland-abandoned-amusement-park/ The Grand Carousel The entrance of Zippin Pippin. I passed under there too many times to count. There was a cat in behind the door. The old games area is a far cry from what it looked like last time I saw it in 2005. I see the Zippin Pippin! Independence Station is where guests could catch Casey Jone’s train that took them around the park. Picnic tables are stacked atop each other, untouched. As I approached the entrance plaza, it was obvious not much had changed since my last visit in 2008
  21. Download Charleston Gardens Amusement Park! 1979, The park's fifth season! I used custom scenery packs from NetOn2. Not all of the CS packs on the list were used, but you will need all of the ShyGuy, Vodhin, and DasMatze sets. The rest should (excluding Baffies stations) should be included with NetOn2. The signs used in the park are included with the download. Please take screens of the park and post a "trip report"! DOWNLOAD HERE. 22. ^ That rumor's been floating around since Sheikra opened.
  23. 1979 As we move forward this season it's a true pleasure to see the park performing so well. Our guests are happy and our employees are happy. That's the perfect scenario. We are beginning to look into options for next year. As we enter the new decade, we are looking for something that uses cutting-edge technology. As a member of the park board, we are asking you: what new attraction do you want to see next year? I am eagerly awaiting your responses. - Joseph Reynolds One of my favorite shots of the park. It showcases two-thirds of our coasters! I'll leave you with this artistic shot of Heatwave's rear spike.
  24. I talked to some family up in the Gurnee area and they were well aware of the possiblity of a "Raging Bull standing coaster" coming from another Six Flags. I thought that was pretty funny to hear.
